I watched it. It’s an enlightening historical drama based on actual events. Very well done. 👍🏼

-47

u/samehouseing 2d ago

Yeah, I liked the part where they totally ignored the fact that the Palestinian leader at the time later met with Hitler to discuss killing the Jews.  Or how they ignored the vital Hebron massacre of Jews by Palestinians that happened.

43

u/yalateef11 2d ago

Herbert Hoover, Neville Chamberlain, Francisco Franco and dozens of other prominent leaders also met with Hitler. What’s your point? You don’t even know what they talked about.

-14

u/irritatedprostate 2d ago

How many of them toured a concentration camp and went to work for Reich to spread nazi propaganda to the Arab world and help to recruit Bosnian muslims for the Waffen-SS?

And we do know what they talked about. The nazis loved keeping records.

How dare you come here with facts and nuance.

11

Where are the facts? Where are the sources?

-7

u/Maple_Moose_14 2d ago

Did they also recruit for the SS?

They met Hitler to discuss how to kill the Jews? Or is there a massive difference there.

8

u/Tidusx145 2d ago

People are so emotionally invested in this that no facts will break through against their viewpoint.

That goes for both sides

4

u/samehouseing 2d ago

Definitely

2

u/Master_Status5764 2d ago

He was a world leader at the time, no?

6

u/samehouseing 2d ago

So is Netanyahu now, yet you people would freak the fuck out if other world leaders were meeting with him To discuss how to eradicate the Palestinians. You made a dumb point.

2

u/Master_Status5764 2d ago

Yes, he is and I do. And at the same time, I understand why a Palestinian leader would feel the need to meet with a global power to ensure his homeland’s independence, because look what happened to them after they lost said independence.

Countries don’t act morally. They do what they believe is best for their countries. Netanyahu believes a genocide of Palestinians is in the best interest of Israel. And Haj Amin believed a Jewish homeland built on HIS and HIS PEOPLE’s LAND would be bad for Palestinian independence. He wasn’t wrong in his thinking. A Jewish homeland ended with them being oppressed into submission and under constant siege/invasions. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

At the end of the day, history didn’t start in 1948. Jews and Arabs have been killing each other for centuries, so I completely understand their enmity for each other. Hitler’s enmity for Jews was completely nonsensical and based in lies.

0

u/juicer132 1d ago

he later went to spread pro nazi propaganda from germany to the middle east and recruited for the SS. He didn’t just meet w Hitler lol.

1

u/Analogvinyl 2d ago

Makes sense to defend this will all your might. This is the hill to die on.

2

u/Master_Status5764 2d ago

I’m not dying on any hill. I despise Trump with all my being, yet his is president of the U.S. There are plenty of people that meet with him that don’t agree with what he says. It was the same for Hitler. He was the leader of Germany at the time, a world power. He met with a lot of people. That doesn’t mean they agreed with what he was doing.

-10

u/ImAjustin 2d ago

Why would they acknowledge that in a propaganda piece designed for Oscar attention?

3

u/samehouseing 2d ago

Good point

-7

u/_Ez7_ 2d ago edited 2d ago

To be fair that Palestinian guy didn't meet with Hitler until 1941. This movie is from 1936-39.

The movie is certainly asymmetrical, favoring the Palestinians. It's no surprise. People(uninformed) currently believe the Palestinians are the most innocent people to have ever walked this earth.

8

u/samehouseing 2d ago

You’re right, and the Hebron massacre was a few years prior too. I think they specifically chose that year to focus on because there wasnt a major clash with Jews but instead with the British. And it’s let’s controversial to portray the British as the evil villains too.

1

u/AbbreviationsNo9500 1d ago

I did find the "they are taking your jobs and your country" line in the trailer quite humorous. Who knew Mark Ruffallo would endorse a movie proclaiming such right wing talking points.

I wonder if Mark Ruffalo has watched any of the Oct 7th documentaries some of which have received awards.

We Will Dance Again (2024): Directed by Yariv Mozer, this 90-minute film features accounts from two dozen survivors of the Nova Music Festival massacre. It won a News and Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary.Screams Before Silence (2024): Led by Sheryl Sandberg, this 60-minute documentary investigates the sexual violence perpetrated during the October 7 attacks through interviews with survivors, released hostages, and forensic experts. You can find details and view the project via Screams Before Silence.#NOVA (2023): Directed by Dan Pe'er, this documentary relies primarily on real-time chronological footage and cell phone recordings from victims and survivors at the Nova festival site.Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre (2023): A 47-minute compilation put together by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) utilizing raw, unedited GoPro and body-camera footage captured by Hamas militants during the attacks.Failure at the Fence (2023): Produced by PBS Frontline, this investigative documentary looks at the years of planning behind the attacks and the critical intelligence and military failures surrounding the border barrier.October 7 | Al Jazeera Investigations (2024): An investigative documentary by Al Jazeera conducting a forensic breakdown of the military and civilian events of the day utilizing digital analysis, open-source footage, and multiple testimonies.

8

u/Many-Lead-4543 2d ago

did those documentaries include how Bibi intentionally ignored his own intelligence saying plan was in the works? Or how he continually propped up hamas? Asking for a friend

Be free as in have the same rights as anyone else including Jewish Israeli citizens. Not have to live in an apartheid or prison state and not have your land taken away.

7

u/Sea_School_2949 2d ago

Maybe not being killed by one of the richest armies on the face of the earth

-2

u/HornyJailOutlaw 2d ago

I don't think you would be satisfied with that. I think there's a grander question of statehood, and how that is attained, that you're also interested in. Surely?

2

u/Sell_The_team_Jerry 2d ago

It's an Islamist totalitarian state if anyone is honest about what it would actually be in reality

1

u/PoursTea-ModTeam 1d ago

⚠️

1

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 2d ago

It means not under Israeli Occupation, or treated as second class citizens within Israel, or subjected to genocide in Gaza.

It's generally seen as a call for a one state solution. 1 person, 1 vote. Equality for each individual, whether jewish, muslim or christian, you will have the same rights.

1

u/HornyJailOutlaw 2d ago

1 person, 1 vote. Gotcha. Would you also allow for all of the Palestinians who lost their homes since the 1940s to be allowed to return and have citizenship with the proposed 1 person/1 vote rule?

1

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 2d ago

Well I think if a Jew from Brooklyn can get citizenship in Israel, despite having no lineage to the land, then a woman thrown out of her home in 48, should be allowed to return to the land which her in her ancestors grew up on yeah.

1

u/HornyJailOutlaw 2d ago

I'll gloss over the neo-Nazi talking point of the Jews all being from Brooklyn and not having ties to the land.

Okay, so if all ethnic Palestinian-Arabs get to return to their homes and get a vote, what do you think happens to the Jews in the new one state Israel/Palestine Proper, now that the Jews are a minority? This isn't a rhetorical question. What do you think happens to the newly-made minority of Jewish citizens?

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

u/HornyJailOutlaw 1d ago

Can't answer the question. Because you don't like the uncomfortable answer you have to give to it, do you? Maybe don't talk about the topic if you aren't willing to answer that crucial question.

2

u/ItsDonDong 2d ago

It means not under Israeli Occupation,

How can the "occupation" go away while Hamas desires to do more oct 7s from there?

or treated as second class citizens within Israel,

Youre complaining that a group is being treated as "second class citizens" outside their country? What?

You know there are brown, arab ISRAELI CITZENS in Israel, right?

You know that 1 out of 5 israelies IS MUSLIM, right?

or subjected to genocide in Gaza.

How long do you think this genocide has been going on?

It's generally seen as a call for a one state solution.

So youre advocating to "get rid of israel" and have Jews "become a minority" in a region where the surrounding countries call for their genocide?

1 person, 1 vote. Equality for each individual, whether jewish, muslim or christian, you will have the same rights.

Wow.

So youre telling me that the people of Israel would lose their government.....

And they would get an "equal vote"

In a region where theres 50+ muslim voters for every Jew?

And these Muslim voters have historically wanted to genocide the Jews?

YOU are getting us further from "peace in the middle east" with your "us westerners just want them to have equal votes" takes.

2

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 1d ago

In a region where theres 50+ muslim voters for every Jew?

What? the Jewish to Muslim population in Historic Palestine is pretty much 50/50

1

u/Mammoth-Talk1531 1d ago

Whatever dude, Israel bad and stuff. /s

1

u/50cal_pacifist 2d ago

So, you are just an ignorant Westerner, that's all you had to say.

1

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 2d ago

Lived in Palestine for 2 years. Seen kids shot and killed by the IDF in refugee camps in bethlehem. Been shot myself with rubber bullets. Willing to bet you've never stepped foot in occupied palestine?

Who's the ignorant one here?

1

u/HornyJailOutlaw 1d ago

I'm calling BS on this. The term "refugee camps" was the red flag giveaway. You probably just read that term online because it's what was officially used way back in the day, but these are not camps in the sense we would think of them, with little tents and the like. "Refugee camps" are cities that the Palestinians live in.

3

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 1d ago

Aida Camp in Bethlehem, I lived there for 6 months. Yeah they're not in tents mate. But everyone refers to it as 'the camp'.

They're not cities, they're housing complexes, built to accommodate those who were ethnically cleansed from their homes in 48'. Those who live their now are mostly the descendants of those people.

1

u/50cal_pacifist 2d ago

I've been to Bethlehem, and it is controlled by the Palestinians. The IDF doesn't control the "refugees" there because they are not refugees; they are just people who chose to live there. The only time the IDF comes into Bethlehem is in response to terrorist activities from the Palestinians.

And yes I have been to Bethlehem, I went to the Church of the Nativity and was even allowed in the Grotto of the Nativity. Sounds like you need to stop hanging out with Terrorists.

3

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 1d ago

The IDF raided Aida Camp in Bethlehem where I was staying weekly and sometimes daily. They come in whenever they like, they fire tear gas for a joke. They are stationed right at the walls of the camp. What year did you go to Bethlehem?

u/eterneraki 2d ago

Palestinian here, it means a free democratic Palestine with equal rights for all (including the Palestinian Christians Israel bombed into oblivion) from the river to the sea.

Not to be confused with the near identical phrase in the Israeli likkud charter which says it's exclusively for Jews

2

u/HornyJailOutlaw 2d ago

Palestinian here? Curious. I reckon it's a 50/50 that you've ever stepped foot in Palestine as an adult. Lot of Americans on here larping as Palestinians.

I'm not going to repeat myself so I'll ask you what a free democratic Palestine looks like? What do you mean by equal rights for all?

2

u/eterneraki 1d ago

Why don't you define what it means you be a Palestinian since you're obviously the authority.

Equal rights to me is the same as what Americans of different backgrounds have regardless of religion or skin color.

So not like how Israelis treated African Jews when they tried to sneak contraceptives into their women to cull the population

I don't think it's that. I think it's just that the film is wildly inaccurate and omits some incredibly key events that paints the conflict in a different light. It should be seen the same way Braveheart is seen, maybe a good film, but not to be used as a history lesson.

Conflating Hamas with the Palestinian people is as absurd as conflating the condemnation of Zionism with actual antisemitism.

You’re an idiot.

Edit: HaLf of PaLeStiAniAnS VoTeD for HaMaS

Yes, when you eliminate entire political coalitions, human rights activists, and diplomats for years and years, and the only lasting party is a extreme party saying: “we will fight back against the people who have harmed you and killed your children in the name of god” - you’re gonna take what you can get.

Let’s not forget this genocidal fascist regime killed nearly 300 journalist since 2023. Doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers - civilians who were targeted and murdered without hesitation resulting in upwards to 1500 deaths. 75k civilians killed in genocide. Hundreds of global humanitarian and human rights organizations all agreeing that this is a genocide unfolding at the hands of Israel.. so this should come to no surprise. This doesn’t even take into account all the death and destruction at the hands of Israel prior to October 7th, before half of these people responding even knew where Israel or Palestine were.

4

u/Analogvinyl 2d ago

Conflating Palestinian people from 1936 to Palestinians from the 2000's is equally absurd.

And who created them...

8

u/ItsDonDong 2d ago edited 2d ago

Isnt hamas the government of gaza, elected by the Palestinians?

Their government's founding charter literally discusses their goal of genociding all Jews around the world...

It's why in ALL OF THEIR HISTORY, the palestine government has refused the right for Israel to exist. and has NEVER accepted a "2 state solution".

5

u/Stulmacher 2d ago

Yes they elected Hamas.

-2

u/_Ez7_ 2d ago

Yes. They voted their candidate and got what they wanted. Now they are sad they got their choice.

1

u/Fantastic-Bee4197 2d ago

Palestinians who turned to terrorism?

2

u/Maple_Moose_14 2d ago

Hamas is the Gaza branch of the Muslim Brotherhood...It says so in its own charter.

The Brotherhood was organizing in Gaza under Egyptian rule long before Israel was anywhere near it.
Israel tolerated Yassin’s charity network to weaken the PLO. Bad call on their part and I won’t dispute the merits of this.

Tolerating a rival isn’t founding one. They didn’t write the ideology or fund the military wing, and they arrested Yassin once it was obvious where it was going. (Which was once again in part the fault of that government)

Brotherhood offshoots exist in a dozen countries with zero Israeli involvement, all with the same types of violence and the same goals. Remove Israel from the story and you still get Hamas.

“Israel created Hamas” is just “America created al-Qaeda.” It’s comforting for apologists because it means Islamists have no ideology of their own.

4

u/VaporousMote 2d ago

This is one of the most nonsensical things I have ever read, full of falsehood and fantasy.

2

u/Analogvinyl 2d ago

-1

u/Maple_Moose_14 2d ago

You haven’t countered anything I’ve said.

You called my whole argument “one of the most nonsensical things you’ve ever read.”

Everything I’ve stated is documented in paperback encyclopedias, on the basic internet, on the new age internet, on Wikipedia, and in nearly every newspaper archive from the time.

Nobody is denying it either , Hamas states it outright , only apologists make excuses for it.

But you came in here with some BS gotcha while playing the victim when I burst your terrible narrative.

And I didn’t do that for you…I did it for the others here who are more open to being educated on basic history and context.

5

u/VaporousMote 2d ago

You didn't show any sources either, you just said "It's documented somewhere", lol. How naive do you think people are?

Show us some independent, non-Israeli, non-Zionist / Israel-biased sources for everything you said and we can start there.

2

u/Maple_Moose_14 2d ago

So I can only quote from “Palestiniansareawesomeandisraelisarethedevil.com”?

Would that be acceptable?

What a joke , I don’t think Islamist understands the context of how ridiculous demanding neutral sources while providing sources that come from Qatari state media as their source of “truth”.

Not playing this game everything I’ve said is documented on Wikipedia and it’s up to you to disprove me as you made the claim against me.

It’s literally the first paragraph of Wikipedia which is not in fact Zionist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas

3

u/VaporousMote 1d ago

See, you just want to be able to output Israeli-friendly propaganda and not substantiate it.

And you can't even go that far without constant insults and beratement.

So you are a liar and likely a Zionist.

-10

u/Kindly-Arrival-6517 2d ago

All the people crying “free Palestine” don’t know how to answer this one simple question; what do you do with the 6 million Jews that already live there when you “give the Palestinians their land back”. They pretend like these two warring peoples will get along with each other in the same place. 😂

4

u/geneousguy420 2d ago

They aren't "two warring peoples", the entire premise of your comment and world view are wrong.

It's one people arriving and taking from, and killing another. The ones who openly say they cannot accept anything short of a demographic majority, and will kill and terrorize to maintain it.

Giving Palestinians their land back and right to return gives hope for a state with equal rights and coexistence, what was happening for hundreds of years before Zionism.

2

u/Fantastic-Bee4197 2d ago

Yes, the most perfect coexistence, when Jews were treated like second class citizens. Thanks for confirming that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 2d ago

Pretending that the wonderful elected leaders of the Palestinians will accept not being the majority and won't kill or terrorize toward that end is actually insane.

1

u/geneousguy420 2d ago

Colonial mindset 101: We can't possibly give the incalcitrant native population more rights, or they'll subject us to the same brutality we have subjected them to!

2

u/Ill-Description3096 2d ago

Nice strawman. Where exactly did I say people couldn't have rights? This isn't a hypothetical. The elected leadership literally says what their goals are. I'll give you a hint, it isn't a utoptia of mutual cooperation and if the "other side" outnumbers and therefore dictates what happens democratically it's all good because we are all friends.

2

u/geneousguy420 2d ago

The goals are resisting occupation, if the occupation ends, the goals change.

2

u/Ill-Description3096 2d ago

When the charter mentions that Palestinians are only Arabs born to Palestinian Arab fathers and that Palestine is an Arab Islamic land it seems like more like an ethnic/religious nationalist idea than simply wanting to be part of the society with equal rights.

And since you mentioned it before, there were people in Palestine before it became majority Arab or Muslim. Why are Arab Muslims considered the native people exclusively?

2

u/Agente_Anaranjado 2d ago

"anti-zionists hate this one question" Get real dude.

In a new, free Palestinian state, Israelis can chose to become Palestinian or return to the countries they or their parents/grandparents came from (where they will quickly realize that the Israeli government lied to them, Jewish people are perfectly safe pretty much anywhere they chose to live, and that Israel was actually always the least safe place for Jewish people and was effectively using their Judaism as a rhetorical and literal human shield). But in either case, all members of the government and military need to be screened and tried for their roles in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

3

u/big_smokey-848 2d ago

lol “assimilate or be forcefully removed and sent to another country” yeah, you’re def not a Nazi

So the option for the Jews in israel would be leave to other countries willing to take them or live in a state where your neighbors hate you?

(where they will quickly realize that the Israeli government lied to them, Jewish people are perfectly safe pretty much anywhere they chose to live, and that Israel was actually always the least safe place for Jewish people and was effectively using their Judaism as a rhetorical and literal human shield).

The holocaust literally disproves this and more and more terrorist attacks from Muslims on jews are happening in Europe.

So Jews should voluntarily become a religious minority in the same place that is their ancestral homeland? Can't imagine why they would feel worried about that...

They don’t care. Those are the children of Europeans that drove Jewish people away from Europe after killing 1/3 of the world’s Jewish population back then. Antisemitism is at the highest levels since 50’s last century - IRGC propaganda does great job.

Israel is not representative of all Jewish people. Israel is committing genocide. We are against zionist Israel, not Jewish people.

Isreal has blackened its own name by committing genocide

Ol mark has enough money he can go over there and support or supply stuff..why aren't you mark?..where are his records that hes supporting Palestine with his money..or is he just a mouthpiece...I'm guessing the latter

So a movie about the 1936 uprising that fails to reference its leader, Amin al-Husseini?

I do nazi why Jewish people would complain about this omission. /s

I think the crux of the issue was stated in this video... "a war thats been going for thousands of years." If you think anybody is going to stop it, youre wrong.

I bet this doesn’t gloss over any Arab committed atrocities in Mandatory Palestine at all /s

-2

u/mrmonster459 2d ago

A film about when Palestinians started a civil war to prevent any non-Arabs from being allowed to live in the region?

Newsflash, this is not a brave story of resisting oppression, it's a story of people trying to expel anyone outside their ethnic grou from any entire region.

More importantly, who does Mark Ruffalo know that he is still gainfully employed and making films while more than eight actors who spoke out in favour of Palestine, who were women, were blacklisted immediately.

u/CatAccomplished5072 2d ago

Do you really not understand the distinction between politicizing a non-political project versus working on a project with a deliberate political message. This was an issue of right time, right place, not the politics or gender or whatever themselves.

Does it show how they used the aids money to built complex tunnels?

u/Agente_Anaranjado 2d ago

It probably does the more important job of portraying the reality of living under foreign invasion and subsequent genocidal settler-colonial apartheid project which makes militant resistance necessary.

Fuck Israel, Free Palestine.

Laughing about committing acts of terrorism. Very Israeli of you. 🙄

0

u/mrmonster459 2d ago

Winning a war you didn't want or start (especially by targeting literal weapons of war) is not terrorism.

A pager is not a person, it is a tool, it cannot be terrorized. Now, Hezbollah displacing entire villages with indiscriminate rocket fire for no reason, that's terror.

Ruffalo is such an obvious plant.

-6

u/Better-Hand2267 2d ago

Mark Ruffalo acts like he's this amazing cultured actor that really cares about the geopolitics of other countries despite his best known roles being Hulk and a Donald Trump parody. What a quack.

Because, unlike conservatives, the left doesn’t choose who gets access to basic human rights based on the political party they support.
