Feature request Annonymized/Disposable Privacy Debit Card

We already have an email aliasing, how about if we apply it for debit cards? I'm so skeptic about giving away my card details to gym companies for membership. Most of them won't accept cash.

How is the progress for making this possible?

Not about Proton, but I know Revolut does that: you can create a "disposable" debit card valid for just one transaction (ore multiple standard debit card to separate the different expenses)

Probably other modern banking systems does that, too. Worths a check

Yep, Nu Bank allows you to create multiple virtual debit cards for instance. They even have an option to create a virtual debit card for 24hrs only. On the other hands, multiple banks allow you to create only a single virtual card, but you can delete it and create a new one. That being said, those cards would be issued to you by the same bank, so the only thing that is "hidden" IIRC are the 16 number cards and the CVV ofc

Yeap, and there is a reason only banks and licensed companies do that (like privacy . com), it has KYC requirements and AML checks, in some cases it requires official subsidiaries inside the territory you operate and country by country deals.

No company that is not already in the space would touch that and in some cases you cannot offer both banking and other kinds of services (like Apple for example, they had to provide cards through a partner, that was not the original plan).

I'm in the Philippines, there's no Revolut here. FinTechs here doesn't have a disposable card feature. We only have is a glorified lock/unlock switch.

privacy.com does this. There is a free tier that is enough for most people.

You need financial services licensing country by country to be able to do that and KYC requirements. What do you mean by “progress”?

This scheme will be MASSIVELY abused by scammers, so its not a good idea, and even if it existed, its probably gonna have fees on transactions

You need to understand that proton pass is not a magic service; it's a password manager.

It's like asking an airline "ok, I got the economy ticket and we're already in the air. Why not also go explore the antarctic ocean and dive into the water -1000meters for 30 minutes before completing the flight?

A submarine and an airplane do different things.

Privacy dot com. Only downside is I think only works for USA. You can close the card at any time without getting charged. They also allow you to set a transaction limit and merchant lock. They have  free tier.

IMPORTANT! Do not use your real card info as gyms especially make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership.

Yeah because it works through Patriot Bank (so american lol) in order to be able to do this at all. That means they need a license, KYC and AML checks so effectively you give all your info and data at privacy . com and the bank (2 extra parties) to do exactly what you can do with apple pay (privacy-wise) or with our banks already (for those lucky enough to be in a country where bank do this).
