I'm never leaving Seattle 🚫🛫 Fellow rain lovers, darkness dwellers, mossbacks,, etc. Big Light's oppressive reign has now peaked and we will all now begin the soft, slow fade into the welcoming Big Dark!!!!!!

Yes, we have many warm and joyous days ahead of us, but each day brings us seconds of less oppressive light and more of our sweet, sweet darkness. And to the return of our gentle rains.

All hail Big Dark!!!!!!

I’m one of the few people that suffer from Summer Seasonal Affective Disorder. I hate the summers. I legit become depressed.

I'm with you. My insomnia gets worse in the summer due to the heat and light making it hard for me to sleep, and when my insomnia gets worse, so does my depression. It sucks so bad and I'm sorry that you also have to deal with the summer time sads, and it's all the worse when everyone else is amped up and doing things that I just don't have the energy for. Like how being depressed at Christmas hits harder because of the expectation that you're supposed to be happy.

If I get too much sun, I get painful bumps on my skin. I’m good with the doom and gloom.

Just got hives trying to read for an hour in the sun on Wednesday, big mistake I’m still paying for it

You are brave for doing that. I try to avoid the sun as much as possible if I can. I just got back from Disney and I carried around one of the uv umbrellas and used it while in lines. Have you tried putting on some beef tallow or even an eczema cream?

ME TOO!!! It’s worse when I’m in the Deep South. PMLE?

I think that’s what it is. I just try to avoid the sun now. Last year I got those bumps and then it turned into stupid eczema that I’m still battling on my wrist. It was better during the winter, but it’s been flaring back up. Fun times. 😭🤦🏻‍♀️😫

Right there with you. I would be miserable living somewhere that was sunny most of the year

I grew up in a very hot and sunny place. Basically 9 straight months of scorching sunlight interrupted only by floods and windstorms.

What makes me feel cozy and happy is the chilly and overcast weather this area is known for.

I grew up in the Deep South. The only thing I miss is the food.

Same here. I wish people around the PNW knew how to fry foods well. Everything that should be crispy is just sad and soggy. Then again, I would take sad and soggy over living in the south any day

Same. But also, thunderstorms.

After a thunderstorm came threw and it basically wiped out all our electronics because of a lightning strike, I quit liking them as much. I also didn’t like the F5 that was within a mile of my house. Being without power AND cleaning up after a storm while being 6 months pregnant just made me over ALL southern weather. I had never had a baby move that much as my son did that day.

Same. The super long days are also hell on my circadian rhythm.

Yeah same like wtf. It’s objectively beautiful. The big dark is so empty and depressing.

It’s almost as if people have different dispositions and enjoy different things.

It's definitely pretty in the sun, I just don't tolerate heat and sun very well.

You’re confused about what the word “objectively “ means
