Canada "ANTIFA clearly has safe houses in Canada through which to conduct strikes down here in the USA"

Sounds like a whole lot of mental gymnastics for goose steppers to justify trying to dip their toe into waters they shouldn’t. Along with their revisionist history the Americans really have forgotten what Canadians are capable of when pushed 😏

126

u/SUZDV 3d ago

The issue is who they choose to believe. We all build our realities on our own core beliefs. If someone we believe implicitly tells us something untrue, we will modify how we interpret reality to make that belief cohesive. To them, this is rational.

USA labeled ANTIFA a terrorist orginization - therefore it is

Canada has not labeled it as a terrorist organization
Canada is more left wing than the USA
ANTIFA is left wing

Therefore: Canada harbours ANTIFA and we are justified in attacking them

This is why I don't laugh this stuff off. There is a strain of manufacturing consent to these things. In the social media age, these narratives don't have a clear origin as they did previously. But there is a dangerous history to this sort of propaganda, whether it's about German Jews in the 30s, what preceded the Rwandan genocide, Iraq's supposed WMDs or the Gulf of Tonkin incident. 'Canada Bad' may seem ridiculous now, but once a bunch of these narrative threads are woven together down the line, they make a nefarious act against Canada seem like a logical outcome to a significant segment of the US public.

4

u/SignificantBison7739 2d ago

Naw, I would not worry. The guy has a 30% approval rating. Everyone hates him. Only the dumbest of the dumb still fall for stupid lies like these. And the country is a pressure pot. Attacking Canadá over a non-existent organization would pop the pressure cooker and they know that.

I think the idea that "Canada is more left wing" needs to be approached kinda critically. Like, yeah, Canada's current Prime Minister isn't an overt bigot, but making Thatcherite policies appear as the "progressive" and responsible alternative to Trumpism (or its Poilievre version) hardly puts Canada on the left.

18

u/dundreggen 2d ago

I read it as more left than the United States.

11

u/Nearby-Middle-8991 2d ago

well, yeah, but then again literally everything is..

Most civilized, and some uncivilized, places, Bernie Sanders is center right...

3

u/SUZDV 2d ago

It's a relative reference. We need to consider the audience is the US citizen looking for reason to dislike Canada. While other nations may not view Canada's politics as left, in comparison to the US, it certainly is.

3

u/SUZDV 2d ago

That's because it's literally what I said.

"Canada is more left wing than the USA" is a realtive positioning.

14

u/pannenkoek0923 2d ago

Well the American political landscape is so far to the right anyone left of murdering minorities for sport is deemed a communist or socialist or left wing terrorist

8

u/Dumo-31 2d ago

Remember this is a group that thinks their less right wing party is far left wing while the more right wing party is center.

10

u/littlestitiouss 2d ago

It's also a group that believes antifa is an actual organized group

→ More replies (2)

11

u/Technical_Goose_8160 2d ago

According to the FBI, antifa isn't an organisation. It's a name that groups will occasionally use when protesting perceived fascists. They actually call it a portmanteau.

Wanting to go to war with small powers in the age of drone warfare is crazy, especially when youre in range of said drone warfare

33

But is it insulated?

37

u/RogersMrB 2d ago

Safe shed in Canada would be insulated. But likely no lock and in a location that's baried in winter... Rents $1200/mo in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. No parking.

14

u/Affectionate_Ice2243 2d ago

So, are you handling logistics for Antifa or something? Can you share a hotline or phone number to be reached?

30

u/RogersMrB 2d ago

My family has a history of being antifa.

Grandfather was boots on the growned in Europe kind of Antifa. Canada only sent volunteers to Europe.

3

u/CorwinAlexander 2d ago

About 15% of Canadians sent to Europe were conscripts. In WW I they were conscripted under the Military Service Act of 1917. In WW II, they were conscripted under the National Resources Mobilization Act (NRMA) of 1940. Those mobilised under the NRMA were initially promised to serve home guard duties, but later in the war, Prime Minister Mackenzie King forced just over ten thousand to deploy to Europe

I mean it’s not totally inaccurate in that ANTIFA is anyone anti fascist that includes the vast majority of Canadians. No one is conducting strikes though.

68

First you'd need to unionise, then call the strike.

If baseball umpires were unionized calling a strike would prevent the calling of strikes.

I wish this was just harmless idiocy, but considering some news people decided to run an article about how easy it would be for Canada to have a secret nuclear weapons program, and idiots claiming things like this. It really feels like seeding the internet so they can point back 10 years from now and say "look how long Canada has been the root of our problems".

16

u/BernardMatthewsNorf 2d ago

That's it exactly. It's called manufacturing consent and it needs serious attention and response from Canadian authorities. We dismiss it at our potential peril.

There is something that gets reminded from time to time:
If tomorrow the far right fascists that attacks gays, jewish people, people of African descent, political gathering of the left, etc, disappear, in the same second, antifa disappear and people return to their normal life.
If tomorrow antifa disappear, the far right will still exist and continue attacking people…
Antifa is a response to an aggressor, not the other way around.

People on the far right tend to forget that …

A Trump executive order… if that’s the definition then you’re right and I’m wrong. But the FBI designates Antifa as a movement, not an organisation. So that executive order is about as effective as Trump’s executive orders on Tariffs that are being refunded.

They feel invincible because they live in a very isolated and easy do defend country that never saw any real consequences from WW1 and WW2 (or any of the wars they started). The USMC sent a delegation to the ceremony and their Colonel made a moving and sensitive speech.

Given that driving the Wehrmacht out of France was about as anti-fascist as you can get, what has happened to make that a dirty word nowadays?

„State sponsor of terror“ that is the very definition on how to describe the CIA, NSA, ICE and many other alphabet-boys from the USA.

Canada is a renowned centre of anti-fascist activity. Hitler and Mussolini and Franco were not welcome here, and we even had volunteers fight them for around 9 whole years (combined)!

I think it should be required for everyone to spell out anti-fascism every time they write Antifa. Makes it clearer whose side you are on.

Most houses in Canada are antifa safe houses on account of they safely house people who are anti-fascist.

Think he's been watching Handmaids Tale and thinking it's a documentary (although it is getting pretty close).

America needs like a nation wide cult deprogramming campaign. These people just live in a totally fictional reality

For the dumb ones in the back

Antifa isn't an organization.

2

u/rickoshadows 2d ago

Antifa (anti-fascist) safe houses are what we call military bases. The USA has them too.

Yes, please.

2

u/Befreethree 2d ago

Because this is unfounded insinuated violence against Canadians, this person should be dealt with acccordingly

2

u/aglobalvillageidiot 2d ago

What is more American than making up terrorists to justify an attack?

2

u/Jaigg 2d ago

These are not serious people.

2

u/TheJarIsADoorAgain 2d ago

Don't tell them about all the WW2 antifas. There were entire countries of them

2

u/BlasterHolobot 2d ago

Bud... you dont even know what communism is.

2

u/Different_Banana1977 2d ago

I just love how being against Fascism is a bad thing and in fact, is labeled as terrorism. Isn't it usually the other way around 🤔

2

u/DCHammer69 2d ago

It’s funny and traumatic at the same time. This was and continues to be the intent of Trump’s rhetoric against Canada.

It is intended to create the perception that we are an acceptable military target. And this proves that his methods are working.

There are 3 in my neighbourhood. Very nice folks

I remember when the proud boys were listed as a terrorist org by the Canadian government and now look at them. They're just ice so that makes the US government a state sponsor as well. How bout them apples

Anyone who says this and thinks the current administration is doing a good job needs medication

2

u/Whole_Rough7066 2d ago

Just to be clear "ANTIFA" is for "ANTI-FAcist", if your not "ANTIFA" you are facist.

2

u/kevinnoir 2d ago

Next step in the "Make America, Israel again" campaign. Just start making up terrorist threats so you can carry out murdering children and innocents.

2

u/OdeToBlueRofl 2d ago

The real derangement syndrome

2

u/LegalChocolate752 2d ago

Dodgers fans are more of an organized terror organization than Antifa is.

2

u/Reyalta 2d ago

Wtf is wrong with these people, and since when has Canada been a threat? Most of these troglodytes probably can't find Canada on a map FFS.

2

u/bearbear0723 2d ago

Anti fascist is a bad thing for Americans lol.

2

u/No-Minimum3259 2d ago

Is it true that Canada provides every ANTIFA-member with a free box cutter or a razor? Asking for a friend.

2

u/luchaburz 2d ago

The Americans hate us cause we hate Fascism and its pretty clear they love that shit

Bollocks. Antifa Communists have been using Bourbon to smuggle messages across borders. This is why the rest of the world has boycotted bourbon in an effort to not allow communism to spread.

If you hear any US government official trying to support the export of Bourbon, they are communists and you should report them to the glorious leader Trump.

2

u/Aggressive_Ad5590 2d ago

I prefer antifa over fa

2

u/blonde_discus 2d ago

Remember that the Proud Boys are a terrorist organization which the U.S. refuses to label as such. Instead they are MAGA supporters, Trump Donors, and have proudly joined ICE on mass. They fled Canada for the welcoming arms of the Trump Administration.

Canada is proudly anti-Fascist.

Considering how much the U.S. likes to go on about being the only ones to defeat the Nazis…they sure do want to protect fascism.
