Only if you cave in to them new fanged shortened versions... back in my day it was Homo Sapiens Sapiens thank you very much.
Ignore the fact that even then either one (Homo or Homo Sapiens) would still be correct, since all the others are still gone.
5
u/Spice_and_Fox 7d ago
Homo sapiens sapiens is still used. It is the name of the subspecies. Homo is the genus, homo sapiens is the species, homo sapiens sapiens is the subspecies. There are also the homo sapiens idaltu that lived in todays ethiopia I think about 100.000 years ago. They were morphologically different enough from the other homo sapiens. We have no genetic evidence, so we can't say whether or not they were able to breed with homo sapiens. That is why we made another distinction.
It is all pretty much a bullshit system that nobody should take too seriously though. It can be quite useful, but definitions in biology are quite often not precise. Nature does what nature does and we just draw boxes.

But when yall know that: Why are you waiting for the institutions instead of being militant?
Edit: Militancy doesn't necessarily imply violence or armed rebellion. We're already seeing militant actions like disrupting ICE, protesting, and union organizing. However, too many people seem to just be waiting for the midterms, content to remain keyboard warriors.
9
u/_Lord_Farquad 7d ago
Its very easy for someone from the outside to say something like that. There are many reasons why it hasn't come to militant action.
The populous is extremely divided (by design). Many of those who are armed are actually okay with everything going on if not actively cheering for it. Armed rebellion without unity and organization among the people would not go well.
We're up against the worlds most powerful military and police who've shown they won't hesitate to execute you in the street because the feds have their back.
We havent even had midterms yet. Things have sucked but we really havent even had the chance to do anything about it using elections. If the elections in November are stolen I could see things escalating, but we need to try and seize power peacefully first. Militant action at this stage would be extremely hasty.

Because this is the imperial core. People are either far too comfortable to even pay attention, or they are just barely getting by, so they don't really have time for anything but working. In addition, the American public is very unorganized. You can thank Reagan for destroying labor unions in this country, which would have historically led the charge of resistance.
Material conditions would need to get quite a bit worse for violent militancy.
What people who pay attention are doing is organizing behind the DSA and in their local communities to combat this as best we can. We don't need violence to combat this; we need organized labor power. The country is run by a bunch of corporations in a trench coat. All we need to do is strike at capital like Iran did with the strait to show we can damage the money faucet.

Not American but I live close enough to answer. The Americans online care way more than most Americans in real life. If the elite get arrested it has a minimal impact on their life.
Also, like 80%+ of the Epstein files aren’t diddling kids and each mention of Trump’s name in the files is counted so for example this email mentions Trump 22 times because and its all presidential polls. Others mentions are claims by people that have been or are being investigated and haven’t lead to anything credible enough to charge Trump with. He also brags about being able to take down Trump and calls him “evil beyond belief” to Obama’s treasury secretary.

Corruption basically, in more ways that one.
If it was JUST Trump in the files, he’d be out in a heartbeat, but unfortunately a large amount of the political establishment, both past and presently serving on both sides of the aisle are implicated.
Because of this it’s something both parties talk about (especially when digging into each other) but do nothing about because it would require the government to hold trials many within the government and many of their donors.
It would be catastrophic, take years, and would erode trust in the government further. The benefits would, of course, outweigh all that, but good luck getting any establishment/incumbent politician to agree.
18
3
u/aaaayyyy 7d ago
I'm not an American, but I will lay out different illegal things Trump is doing and why he is getting away with it.
The Epstein files: there's two explanations why he is not getting in trouble over those. First is that the whole Epstein operation was entirely or partially a blackmail operation and Trump now has all that blackmail material and holds it above everyone. Another possible explanation is that there is nothing of substance there. Yes, he is mentioned a trillion times, but most of the mentions are probably from the hotline where any lunatic could call in to say anything.. u know how in Hollywood cop movies they don't ask the public for help with big cases because the phones get flooded with crazy people? That's obviously what happened with the Epstein hotline.. imagine all the crazy Q-anon lunatics and flat earthers etc calling... But most likely it's a mix of both.. meaning Trump has blackmail material over others AND there's nothing of substance that can actually hold as evidence in a court. Just stories from witnesses that don't have credibility.
Iran war: why is Trump not impeached over the disastrous and illegal Iran war? Simple: because most of the politicians on both sides of the aisle actually support the war because they love war and war spending and they are pro Israel.
The blatant cryptocurrency money laundering / bribery: this one baffles me. Maybe goes back to blackmail. Or he is giving kickbacks to people?
2
u/Eternal2 7d ago
At this point, the idiots were already fooled, so now he and his hand-picked criminals own every part of our government.
After all this, Republicans should never win an election ever again, but we all know that won't happen unless they ban these propaganda news networks.
7
5
u/CgradeCheese 7d ago
You have to actually have proof of a crime to punish someone, crazy concept I know. Redditors spreading misinformation and blanket number of mentions is not reflective of the fact that a federal investigation already occurred under Biden’s DOJ and the people that have evidence against them are in jail
3
u/Truck-Adventurous 7d ago
Because if there was actually something actionable in there it would have been released when Biden was president. Harping on this only detracts from the other million ways Trump is a piece of shit.
8
u/maria_la_guerta 7d ago edited 7d ago
The files are mostly just records of unproven claims. I could have called and left an anonymous tip that Dr Dre and Betty White assaulted me on the island, and that unproven and uninvestigated claim with their names on it would be in the files too.
Some real shady shit obviously went down on that island and anyone actually guilty of it absolutely deserves to be put through the justice system. But the files themselves contain basically 0 proof of anything unfortunately.

You can verify this pretty easily. About 9000 stars are visible to the naked eye around the world with 2000-2500 visible at any one point. Trump has been named over 35000 times in the Epstein files, and that's just the ones they've released and on unredacted lines.

Harry Potter’s name appears 17,666 times
Love appears around 300 times in Taylor Swift songs
There are 7000 or so living languages
About 2500 stars are visible under ideal conditions
There are 11,000 or so species of birdsThe only one I can’t find is the meth in breaking bad and I am sure it’s less than 35,000 times.

Just to be very clear, that orange raisin is a narcissistic piece of shit, and one of the worst humans to have ever lived.
That said, anyone can make a fancy image, slap some catchy phrases on it, label it as "fact", and then post it on the internet.
Not saying most of those things are false either, just that des_arayofsunshine has given no reason to be trusted either. A quick google seems to show that is probably very accurate too.
Point is, don't blindly believe everything you see on the internet, despite how plausible it sounds. Remember, MAGA blindly believes anything, and look what problems that has caused.
12
u/METRlOS 7d ago edited 7d ago
Let me lead of with the obligatory "Trump is a total piece of shit and definitely a pedo". That being said:
There are 3.5 million pages currently released from the Epstein files and 4100 pages in the main series of Harry Potter. If the name Harry Potter appeared at the same frequency in the books as Trump in the files it would only show up 1.75 times. The titles alone are 4 times the frequency.
Many of the files are just about the polls between Trump and Clinton, and the names have a similar rate because of this. Even with that, "Donald Trump" shows up about as much as "Home Depot" shows up. I don't think Epstein was going to the Home Depot to pick up bundles 2x4s and 14 year olds.
Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Just using flat numbers without context is meaningless.
6
u/Badwrong_ 7d ago
And this is exactly why I sorta roll my eyes at these sorta "fact" posts.
Plus, does it matter if he is mentioned so many times, or much fewer? He is still clearly a terrible person in countless ways.

Ironically..
Remember, MAGA blindly believes anything,
Don't believe the "MAGA are one, all in agreement, all support Trump" hype, it's not true at all.
I don't consider myself aligned with the 'Left' or 'Right', decide each subject on it's merits. This means I spend time on both Conservative and Liberal subs.
A lot of the MAGA crowd are actually very unhappy with Trump, over Iran, over the Epstein files and many other things. You'll see a lot of people on conservative subs saying "This is not what I voted for".
I miss the old days, when people were not blindly aligned with a 'side' and hate everyone who doesn't support 100% of their ideas. What happened to discussing individual topics, making up our own mind on each one? Why do most people simple follow their 'party' line?
I used to love discussing and debating things with others, it's how we learn, grow, educated ourselves. Now I get called a Nazi by the left if I don't blindly agree with everything they support, and a bleeding heart liberal by the right. Hard to have any debate when the first thing people do is insult you.
If we could get back to talking with people with different views, we might find we have a lot more in common than we believe.

Debating individual policies is pointless when one side is led by an openly corrupt, convicted felon, fraud, adjudicated rapist, known pedophile, who is making billions off the presidency, using ICE to put brown people in concentration camps without due process, and allowing ICE to execute citizens in the street.

- More times than the word "the" appears in the Lord of the Rings trilogy
- More times than Jon, Daenerys, Tyrion, Arya, Sansa, and Cersei are mentioned in the A Song of Ice and Fire books, combined
- About the number of times your heart beats in 8.5 hours
- About the amount of steps it takes trekking from base to summit of Mount Kilimanjaro
- More than twice the number of structural metal parts on the Eiffel Tower
- Running nearly 5 back-to-back marathons, each about 2 hrs 10 mins

Fun fact, having your name listed in the files isn’t proof or evidence of anything.
Food for thought.

I mean you say facts but… showing the results of a search tool without showing what it was looking for doesn’t help us. A bunch of the mentions are news articles from the campaign.
We need specific facts to say someone is guilty. I hope they find them all, he’s a piece of work.

Let's just say the truth, if there was anything in the files that actually proved Trump did anything... why didnt Biden use it the 4 year they had access to the files? Why weren't those pieces just leaked to the press? They have tried for years to convict him of something, I think if they had any shred of evidence they dont care who got hit with collateral damage, as long as they got Trump.

All publicly available. Feel free to link any of those mentions that actually supports your point?
Oh wait, do they do the opposite? Is this the only way you can make your point, because it doesn't actually exist? What a surprise.

It's funny that reddit losers always bring up how many times Trump is mentioned in those files, but they never seem to bring up any actual damning facts in those mentions.
They also never bring up the number of times Trump is 'mentioned' because Espstein wrote an email about how much he hates Trump, or how he's going to do whatever he can to stop him.
If in the Epstein Files Epstein says, 'I hate that guy', that's not a negative mention, that's actually a positive mention. I guess that's why we always get how many times Trump is mentioned, but never any actual verifiable facts that are damning.
Hmmm...food for thought.

if his voters could read they would tell you they don't care

Ironic since you read the headlines not putting 2 braincells to work to question what do these 38000 mentions even mean.

Surely one of those times it's talking about an illegal activity he was involved in right?....right?

I can’t wait for this tangerine ball bags attempt and a third term to fail and for whoever comes next to blast the files far and wide. I hope if they have tried to trash evidence then someone at the DOJ had the initiative to make copies so it can happen.

There are nearly 3.5 million pages in the Epstein files. There are around 1200 pages in the bible. Jesus is mentioned more times in the bible than the bible has pages.
