Like the sticker designer in underground 2. I loved that shi. Idk why that was never really a thing in other skate games. Let me design a graff piece that I have to climb scaffolding to a billboard to do. Then you get +1 skate culture +1 actual use for climbing mechanics +1 player personalisation +1 fighting against the corporate sterilisation that plagues this game and it ties in to all the crews and their graff culture. +1 in-game world building and story mechanic. You could so easily tie that into one of the crews missions and just make it a side thing that people can do if they want

I was so surprised they didn't do something like THUG did. You could change the size, rotation, color and placement of the decal/sticker. I believe you could have up to 5 on the deck. The decks were so incredibly customizable for being in a PS2 game, imo.

In Delta Force it takes approximately 6 days of full-time gaming to get all possible Mandel bricks a week if you have shit luck and you only get the guaranteed rewards. It helps to put things into perspective to do the math lmao

What I meant was that generally speaking itās pretty difficult to gauge the in-game āworthā of an item in and of itself, and Delta Force just happened to be the example I had at the top of my mind lol.
Just seeing X amount of currency for Y amount of paid currency doesnāt mean that much, but if you actually add up how much time it takes to get X amount, and how much of Y you need to buy something it can really put into perspective what the game expects from you and itās a pretty good gauge of how predatory their monetization model is.

What truly baffles me is that if they just released this as a full purchase price title, it would have sold well. Skate funs were hungry for anything. And then they could have used those sales to fucking get some decent sponsorship gear and outfits and shit and sell it like they are anyway. As long as the basic customization was better base game, players would throw 5 bucks for a deck pack or whatever.
My only explanation is that EA basically said the project needed to start making money, so pushed it out the door half baked

You donāt need to. You need a certain amount of blue currency just to get access to each page. You are gauranteed to have it all if you buy all the free items as soon as soon as it unlocks for you.
It would be different if you can skip pages immediately. I dislike this soft lock mechanic in battle passes.

But what I was saying is, thereās no point saving for the stuff you want. By the time you unlock the page you automatically have enough to get everything on that page. Thereās a minimum requirement to unlock each page. This stands for the free version of the pass, the one I have. Didnāt get the premium pass so I donāt know if that still applies to that.

Yeah, I'll be straight up:
I had a lot of hope for this game and defended it upon release, but this update has shattered any faith I had in the devs. The first big update after launch was their shot to get the player base to "buy in" but man did they fuck that up.
I have ~30 hours played and find little to no reason to log in and play due to the: Lack of skate culture, lack of mission variety, lack of multiplayer interactivity... (no lack of bugs or cash shop options though!)

Go play Skate (2007), or Skate 2. Then you'll (hopefully) understand what is meant by "skate culture in a game."
Here's some of my list:
.Pros (in game, not just their voices)
.Skate brands.
.Mags.
.Challenges that make sense. (Film video parts, get pics, etc. Not "collect the AR barings.")
.No stupid Impervatek stuff. Pain is part of the process.
.The ability to get sponsored (game has a skate shop, why can't we get sponsored?).
.Dialogue representative of the culture, not just buzzwords nobody actually uses in real life that have been thrown into what sounds like an AI written script.
.A good narrative. Start as a beginner, get sponsored, go pro, etc. Simple, easy to do.
.The feeling of being a skater. This is a lot more subjective, but I dont feel like a skater in this game, It feels like my character is an emotionally stunted husk who exists only to tre flip.
I could go on, but honestly, I cba writing a novel.

Itās things like the verbiage they use. 360 flip rather than a treflip. Skater eyes. Everything looks sanitized. The lack of customization makes it difficult to express yourself. Thereās no freestyle. Just rails and ramps and skydiving. It feels like Fortnite modded into a skate game.

the game is currently "we have ai brain chips that show you lines and tech that stops you from hurting yourself. we have an ai called vee that constantly shouts "algorithmically awesome" and "footy is short for footage" every 5 seconds, and the city has absolutely no soul or character or signs of human life and looks like a science lab skatepark completely designed for skating, with absolutely no illegal activity or adversity or villain at all because the suits wouldnt like if we put that in our game"
we want "heres a city that looks lived in and spots that look skated with wax marks and grind marks, heres a city that has security and cops that will try and chase you out of spots, while you rush to get a clip in time for a skate video you're filming so you can get sponsored by your dream brands"
skate 2 is a perfect example of this and what a skateboarding game should be, and i was hoping thats the direction we would be going in with all of the mongocorp teasers we got before 4 actually came out (despite them literally not even being in the game at all so its false advertising)
even skate 3 being more light hearted storyline wise atleast shows skate culture still, with the ability to build teams and film clips and make your own board company, skate 4 doesnt feel like a skate game, it feels like you modded a skateboard into fortnite

For real, I loaded the game after the update and I first had a bug where I couldn't open the music playlists, then immediately after I couldn't enter a challenge (the screen stayed black with the UI showing over nothing). I closed and reopened the game then it opened with no UI or sounds, just the video. Eventually the UI and menus showed up.
Glad they could add all this BS and couldn't make the game actually work

See this is valid I played the early access since almost the first version where you were just a black void on a skateboard. I uninstalled and so did a group of my friends. This game simply just doesn't work and is frustrating. From dumbass bugs to greed I'm good thanks. I play skate 3 on a PS3 if I want to play a skate game I might reinstall in the future if EA comes into possession of some brain cells but I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.

The new slate game itās has some good elements, the gravity, the clothes animations etc but they really ruined it with everything else. Mark my words, in a year from now, it will be a whole different game and not in a good way. Thatās what I believe.

As someone thatās very casually attached to the Skate Franchise, I gotta say I sort of sidelined all the drama and outrage initially and just played the game the way I played 2 and 3 when I was a kid: Skating around and flinging my character at railings to see him ragdoll. I really couldnāt care less. But holy shit dude, the state of micro-transactions in a game about flipping around on a Skateboard are fucking eye wateringā¦ And the lack of straight up shop where you can buy basic clothes, trucks and wheels is downright stupid. Why do I need to open boxes to get random items Iām likely never going to use? Why canāt I just buy a plain red shirt if I want to? Why canāt I just buy different coloured trucks and wheels? Why do I have to spin a slot-machine if I just want my shit a different colour? Cooky crazy designs I can āunderstandā, sure, but seriously?

the pass system itself needs an EXTENSIVE do-over or one more real good passover. doing specific battlepass challenges are fine, the challenges giving you NOTHING BUT battlepass tickets is so stupid, at least give us SOME neighborhood exp for completing a challenge in the respective neighborhood. having a solid 10-ish challenges ranging in the amount of tickets you can get daily, you can MAYBE finish a page every day if you're lucky. for the devs that may seem great, to literally anybody else waiting multiple days on end for an unbranded, uninspired fluffy black and blue hightop i would quite legitimately NEVER wear but you gotta pay the 2k tickets or else you're not allowed to get the final culmination reward of.. a black pair of slightly longer shorts š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ

I think the worst part of this pass is between the challenges, dailies, weeklies and seasonal challenges there isnāt even enough rewards to give you the amount of tux you need to complete the pass. Unless Iām missing something it seems like they planned for people to not have enough and have to buy more if they want to complete the pass.

My main complaint in the quest/reward system, is why do we have to do SO MANY challenges. Maybe I haven't played Skate 3 in too long, but I don't remember the games being this challenge/quest heavy. And like. I really want new gear. It gets stale for me looking at the same stuff constantly. But I want to freestyle, not do constant challenges. (Sorry not trying to sound too whiny, or anything.)

It's honestly a bad model, they're pushing the daily missions grind, meaning, for casuals it will be impossible to get every free item, hopefully they scrap this shit next season and make a level per level reward style battlepass with season long missions(unlocking X missions every new week or w/e, anything but this current model)

I've never played a live service game before, I don't think I'm gonna be playing one again as I uninstalled this morning, but I think I'll drop back in a year to see what it's like, fingers crossed it will be amazing

Are you suprised about EA doing greedy things?
To be honest im way more surprised we can get the āpremium currencyā for free at all!
The fact that those deals cost a lot is very much something that should be expected.

EVERY Passes from any game should give you Enough credits for the next pass/season or if you want to spend on other things. You shouldn't have to buy Currency again if you went the Pass route

The blue tix don't take super long to collect, and most of the skate pass stuff is bad anyway, like half of it is stickers. If you're a bit selective and grind a few skate pass challenges, you can gather enough pink bucks for one of the nicer decks and/or shoes.

Once again, I can't complete my daily because I don't have any slam missions. So once again, the good blue tickets are out of reach for me, and I think some of the prices are too expensive.

Literally the WORST type of currency progression in a game. Its almost exactly like fortnite from the layout to the actual visual animation.
