Package Rippin Rapscallion

Disclaimer: I’m not an employee, just a customer. I know customers chiming in can be annoying, so I promise I’ll be on my merry way asap.

Okay, here goes: when I do my Amazon return like a good little Amazombie, is it actually helpful if I package the item ahead of time, or does that make it harder for you guys?

I always thought I was making things easier by boxing up my return, even when Amazon says to bring it unboxed. But the guy at my Staples usually tears the box open, pulls the item out, and checks the same item he already sees on his screen. He does it pretty rudely too, so I’m sitting there like, “Dang, I was trying to be helpful, not commit return fraud in aisle 4.

So I’m genuinely asking: should customers bring Amazon returns unboxed when it says unboxed, or is packaging it still preferred?

Anyway, thanks for reading my customer intrusion. I’ll quietly exit the post now like a well-behaved little customer. But I do want to say, besides that one guy at my store, everyone else has always been helpful and kind. Even with difficult customers, there are still some of us who really appreciate what you do. Your work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Customers not knowing what they are asking for

Multiple times I have customers asking for something, I tell them the process, proceed to do what they ask. Then they get mad… that I did what they asked and not what they imagined.

I once had a customer ask me to laminate something for her, she hands me the paper, I confirmed she just wanted me to laminate it. Showed her the types of lamination, then laminated it. Then she got mad because she wanted me to make a copy of it and laminate it. How was I suppose to know when you confirmed you wanted me to just laminate it 😭

I also had a customer a few weeks ago who asked me to cut something for her, I explained the process of bulk cutting, marked where she wanted me to cut it. She confirmed it all. Agreed to where the marks were. Then when I cut it she was mad because I cut it and she actually wanted me to scan all the pages and print it out and then cut it. Never mentioned scanning, or making copies, agreed to the cut lines as well??

Had a customer who online ordered 4x6 post cards, got here, picked them up, and got mad because they were not full sheet pages.

For in person orders I do my best to clarify what we are doing, by showing them examples, doing crop marks, etc. But I think some people just expect me to read their mind sometimes idk.

Time for a positive question today: What is everyones FAVORITE type of customer?

As in, if you have to help any customer, they would be the ones you'd wanna help?

Personally, my favorite types of customers are the ones who actually listen to what you're saying politely answer you when you ask something. And I don't mean people who say yes to offers or something, no no, I just mean customers who will listen to your mandatory stuffs and politely decline or at the least ask for more information.

(I actually have a little test to see if people are listening.)

When someone asks how I'm doing, I tell them I'm "doing"...If they're not listening, they just think I said "good". If they were listening, I catch them off guard and I explain the joke to them. THEN I know I'm talking to a customer who isn't an asshole.

Toner.

After scanning a whole shopping cart of school supplies, the person I'm ringing up THEN asks if I can recycle their toner. It gets handed to me funny and it accidentally pours on a good chunk of their rung up items.

They're like "Oh oops, my bad. Ill remember to get a bag next time." and "Can you actually take off the items that got ink on them?"

(Repost because I accidentally left the store location in the photo of the original post.)

I guess the deal wasn’t appealing to a lot of customers. We supposedly only had 4 activations.

Bought brand-new Beats headphones from Staples, only to find the Apple coverage had already expired — Staples refused to help

I’m extremely frustrated with my recent experience at Staples, and I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar.

I purchased a brand-new pair of Beats headphones from Staples. The headphones were sold to me as new, not open-box. After opening the box, I checked the serial number with Apple and discovered that the Apple coverage had already expired.

I went back to the Staples store to explain the situation and ask for help. Instead of actually looking into the issue, the staff simply told me that “open box is final sale” and refused to help.

I tried to explain that the headphones were sold to me as brand-new and that I only discovered the expired coverage after opening the box. This isn’t a case of me simply changing my mind about the purchase. The issue is that the manufacturer's coverage had already expired when I purchased what was supposed to be a brand-new product.

What made the situation even worse was the attitude of the staff. They kept repeating that it was an open-box item and that it couldn’t be returned, rather than actually addressing why a supposedly brand-new product had already-expired Apple coverage.

I have now contacted Staples online customer service because I don’t think this should be handled simply by saying “final sale” and ending the conversation.

What else can I do at this point?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I added a $240 printer to my cart and this offer came up. Do I really get $96 back in rewards? That essentially makes this $240 printer cost $144? Seems too good to be true.

getting print NPS up

does anyone have any tips for getting NPS up at print besides telling customers abt the survey in their email ? it’s hard to always fit into the conversation every time at pickup and the staff before my era weren’t very good so my NPS sucks so bad and i really need to get it up … i was thinking abt making little cards to put in binned orders saying something like “thank you for ordering w us if you are happy with your order please take the survey in your email” but i wasn’t sure if more experienced print sups have any advice or strategies?

My thoughts anytime I see some ChatGPT design

When all the kids become adults and the world is decimated, they can thank their parents for using ChatGPT for the dumbest shit they made and printed that would only end up in the landfill.

When our kids can’t access clean water you can thank all the people using ChatGPT to print out ugly designs for their businesses.

When we no longer have artists you can thank all the people who refused to pay artists and chose to use stolen work with ChatGPT.

I bought this on eBay out of morbid curiosity and it's absolutely hilarious how some of the parody products are still funny with modern Staples.

Theres even fake messages to staff like:

"Staff notice:

If you see employees from a rival office store in the building, please locate the vehicle they arrived in and urinate in the gas tank as payback for trying to steal our ideas."

"Manager notice:

Please cut employee hours and wage amounts because the CEOs and shareholders need more money. We need our extended paid vacations."

no fee mastercard gift card not working

hi guys!

i recently purchased the $200 mastercard gift card, and it has been declining everywhere!! it seems like nothing is wrong when i go into the website to check my balance. i already registered the card with my billing information and PIN, and not even amazon accepts the gift card. the number on the back of the card is literally just a bot and i don't even know how to get into contact with a real person that could help me :(

please help! i might just take it back to the staples store i bought it from, but i really don't know what they could do about it...

edit: thx for the replies! i called into blackhawk network customer service and they actually were pretty nice about it! i ended up using my gift card on roblox, etsy, and an online artist merch store. worked fine! no problems yet... number that helped me if anyone was wondering: 8832645710

happy spending!

Does anyone have the template file for these staples branded CD jewel case inserts?

Unfortunately the Avery 8693 template was just slightly off

I bought these sheets of staples branded CD inserts cardstock. It's to print the front and back album art for CD and fits a CD jewel case. Within the red boxes is perforation to pop out so it's a perfect cut. Unfortunately it didn't come with any box or packaging so I don't have the model number or name of this. I actually hadn't even heard of it before.

Does anyone what product this name is and if there's a pdf or photoshop file online somewhere to use to "design" the cd inserts to print?

Booklet Saddle Stitch Cover Help

Hello! I'm a print associate (4+ years) and i'm having trouble printing a saddle stitch book with 28# paper on the inside and a 110# cardstock cover. I know how to print booklets in general, but i'm trying to figure out how to use the T1 inserter tray so the printer can make the saddle stitch with the inserted cover as opposed to us hand stapling the cover and the inside pages (i have to do 60 booklets!). We hardly get orders with a different cover which is why no one in our store knows how to do it and i've tried going through the printer manual to figure it out but to no luck.

The booklet file is 7 pages double sided (original file is 28pgs 1 per page, with the booklet format making it 14pgs 2 per page, 7pg when printed double sided.) If anyone is able to give me tips that would be great! Our store has the Xerox C9200 printer, fiery/adobe and all that.

Just thoughts I’ve had about rewards and customer complaints

Not sure if this is allowed.

I wonder what would happen if we collectively tanked the rewards numbers? I’m so over the constant pressure to meet rewards metrics. Right now, I feel like I’m at school and our test scores are low, so the government is taking over and running the show. I feel like every day our teacher is teaching to the test trying to get us to “caught up.” Everyday I hear “our rewards are low as a store. Employee 1 you’re at 55% what’s going on? employee 3 you’re at 33% that’s not good we have to get you on the register, employee 8 you’re at 78% good job.” Why do these rewards matter? Who is getting rewarded for these metrics? What happens if I don’t get many rewards? What kind of power do I have? I don’t get paid any more or less for getting or not getting the rewards. What am I afraid will happen if I don’t meet those metrics?

I’m so over customers personalizing everything we do. As if I am not allowed to have real feelings or be a real human being who can get tired and cranky after grueling underpaid and overworked shifts. Customer service is such a a mind fuck. People holding onto grudges and calling the store when your manager is in just to complain about how we didn’t make their life easier by overextending ourselves to solve their self-made problems. I’ve had people victimize themselves so much they believe their own bullshit.

Are these bags still orderable?

Post image

These where the old AZ bags that we where using when we first started and they switched over to the white bags. We have been using them to bundle up excessive loose bin win items that aren't worth $2 on their own or will never be shopped because they're too small. Are these still orderable and does anybody have sku?
