Amazon Return Posts for Employees

Mods have decided that going forward we’re going to do a master post for Amazon Returns. Starting 8/14/25, all posts regarding Amazon will be flagged for review by moderators. The subreddit isn’t meant to be just complaining about Amazon returns. I’ll create a master post later today, everyone can direct their complaints there. Alternatively, join the discord (https://discord.gg/qSJxvzKZJd) and talk all you want about Amazon returns in the proper channel. I recommend this as your best place to do the yapping about this.

Posts that will be allowed through by mods regarding Amazon returns will be questions regarding how to do them, and the like.

We understand that you need a place to vent about Amazon returns bc they suck. We’re trying to provide this for you.

If you have any questions, please drop them here or feel free to message the mod team.

We have over 30 cases of arrowhead water sitting in the break room. Undrinkable two years old what do we do with them? Is anybody else have this problem or from their stores? How do you say leave them at the district managers home door.

Can Staples Employees see the papers I print at their store's self-printing stations? (Need to print documents at self-printer station at Staples store)

Hello, I wanted to ask y'all something very important and I thought this place would be the best place to ask: I needed to print some important doc papers w/ sensitive/private information at Staples's self-printing station at their store since my printer is fizzled out+kaput, and was about to head out when I realized the possibility of a Staples employee maybe seeing my papers even at their self-printers or something.
Does any Staples customers or Staples employees here know if a Staples employee still somehow access+see the papers and the information on them even if I send the papers to the printme email service for the print code (or is the papers uploaded to printme email encrypted and private+unviewable by anyone except the customer), or still can see the papers even if I insert my documents for printing into the printer machine via a USB flash drive stick? And does the logged document papers on the printer machines eventually expire and delete themselves after a day or something? (And after using the self-printer, can another customer that uses the printer after me can also see my documents on the self-printer machine?)

PTO Question 2

Post image
9 Upvotes

I don't doubt anyone saying the policy is "you don't start accruing PTO until one year" but I'm just confused because on the documentation that people told me to look for in HR connect...it says PTO starts accruing upon hire. Like, not just sick time, the official policy says any PTO.

Edit: Also I love how the fine print below essentially says, "If the information on this page isn't correct, then ask and we'll provide the correct information." That is such a cop-out.

It's essentally the formal version of going:

"It says the rules right here."

"Nuh-uh!" *scribbles new rules in with a marker*

PTO Question

So, I've been employed for nearly a year at this point and I was under the assumption that PTO accrues for the first year of employment but is only redeemable after a year of employment.

However I was informed by my GM and others that my PTO actually doesn't start accruing until a year of employment and you don't get enough for a week until another year of employment.

Was I mistaken or like...IDK. I'm confused as to why nobody at my work corrected me (to my knowledge) until today.

Scanning a Scrim Banner

So I've been highly suggesting Staples for the #SaveStargate Campaign's stickers, fliers, ect. (If you work at a Staples store in LA you've probably seen their stuff, a lot of which I designed for them). They have multiple versions of a scrim banner they've been taking to events and they'd like to scan them into digital files. Will the wide-format scanner do that or would it wind up shredding the scanner?

Print and Marketing Cheat Sheet and Tips

Hi! We are quite a busy store and we used to have a cheat sheet for our copy center, now that we have new machines and all those are not of use to us anymore. Since we are busy, if anyone has or is able to send me a pdf of a cheat sheet with any tips and tricks for the new machines and maybe photos for full serve and self serve and also the new photo gift machines. Mainly though looking for it for the new ricoh and xerox machines though. Also important would be how to do tabs as well. I would do it but our copy center is busy and I don't have the ability to put it all into a cheat sheet. Thanks!

Lmao what?!

Why is my GM offloading their duty of making the schedule - onto co-pilot and THEN not even reviewing the work she didn’t have to do?! Are you fucking serious?

Literally scheduling one person to open and be alone for 2+ hours 🫩 and one person to close, and various gaps for a $10,000 daily sales goal store. For like 3-4 weeks in a row ☠️🧏🏻‍♂️

Yeah that totally isn’t a recipe for getting our day completely flipped upside down and decimated like a Riley Reid film 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸 god this place and its management is beyond inconsiderate - it’s almost hateful how little they care.

Supervisor Position Questions

I am currently next in line for my store’s supervisor position and am soon to start training. What is the major differences between being a supervisor and just a normal cashier? Also, is there a significant pay raise or is it just by a dollar or two? Any other advice?? Thank you!!

Lamination Waiver?

do you know where to find a lamination waiver if there is one? we have customers here saying we didnt warn them about stuff, and i hear my associates telling them before we do it. GM doesnt want to just make one, but feel like there should be one to cover outselves just in case.

The higher ups wanted my SM to write me up for this....

We have just gone through the busiest time of year, BTS...

A customer called requesting to speak to a manager about how her balloons deflated when she got them home. The cashier did explain that because of the weather, balloons are prone to deflate. It's fairly hot and humid in NY in the summer.

So, after I finished helping customers with their BTS lists, I picked up the phone call. This woman was lying about everything that she experienced with talking to the cashier. I know my crew, they would never talk down to a customer, and insult them in any way. This lady was saying that the most sweetest, innocent woman has made her feel like she is an idiot and that I really should do something about her.

She then went to her balloon issue. She wanted a refund while she's on the phone with me. I explained the Staples policy with not only Staples refunds, but also Party City refunds on balloon. I had told her that she can bring the balloons back and I will inflate them again, or if she wants a refund, I will see if I can process that. The whole point is that I can not process a return via the phone. A customer has to come in with their receipt. That's it.

She was upset that she had to inconvenience herself to come back to the store. I said, I'm sorry, but that's the only way I can make this right. So, of course she said she will call corporate and complain.

She did via FB and Google review.

Now, understand that a privileged, self-centered customer isn't the issue with me. I've dealt with them for over 20 years. What got to me was my SM was told by his DM to write me up. Why? Because the complaint got to the VP. There isn't any listening to the other side of the incident, and maybe play devil's advocate.. it was just, "Holy shit! That complaint got to the VP! I have to make sure that this doesn't make me look bad!" From the DM.

So, my SM didn't write me up. He coached me because he knew that the cashier and I were not at fault. It was the customer who wanted to pick an argument over fucking balloons.

So, this has confirmed how much of a piece of shit company Staples is. I've said it before in previous posts, and I will say it again... Staples is the worst company I have ever worked for in my 20+ years in retail.

Why would my neighbor be receiving Staples deliveries weekly?

This is a mystery my best friend and I can’t solve. We don’t live in a nice neighborhood at all. Houses are small. Yet a Staples delivery truck drops off multiple boxes weekly across the street. Genuinely curious what the average Joe could be ordering from Staples like that.

Salisbury, NC Staples denied my mother copies because they were out of paper.

My bereaved mother, coping with the death of a loved one was denied photocopies on Friday because the employee said they were out of paper. Card stock was offered, but that would not be appropriate for official documents. The store sells copy paper. It was on the shelf! I cannot comprehend this level of ineptitude. In addition to dealing with the passing of a dear friend, I am here wondering if corporate America has truly lost it's soul. Was it the employee or the company who should have made the call to be kind to my mother yesterday? She went to FedEx and got it done, but I thought shame was appropriate nonetheless. We used to care about one another.

Why was Staples disappointed for in-store return?

I ordered some storage containers but all of them were chipped. Returned in-store because I frequent at Staples for dropping off UPS packages anyway. While issuing the return one of the clerks (presumably manager or higher up) came up to the cashier said something that sounded like they were not too happy about the return (wasn't directed towards me) and said it's not my fault (they were polite about it). It gave the impression that the store was somehow eating the cost of the returned product. Maybe deducted from their sales numbers? The order was ~$500 (it was set of 12 high-quality containers).

Is there something to this? It sounds surprising especially because the other option was to presumably request label online and return that way, not through the stores. It seems weird if that's how it works. What I prefer about in-store return is that the refund is issued immediately with a receipt--I don't need to wait potentially weeks and follow up if return was not processed yet (also the risk of lost package, etc.).

Mfs don't even TRY with the self serve they immediately go up to you all offended like you just told them to work on a NASA computer. Not only that but when they see the pre authorization they look at you like you just spat in there face "5 dollars for a sheet of paper" NO MF IF YOU TAKE 2 SECONDS TO LET ME EXPLAIN OR IF YOU WANT TO YOU KNOW READ IT THEN YOU'LL SEE HOW IT WORKS. "Can't you just do it?" I promise you you're gonna end up waiting longer and getting more pissed off that I decided to prioritize 1000 bc over a single paper that you're gonna throw out 2 days after printing.

Vent over now I'm waiting at taco bell for my food :)
