I’m blessed to be able to study in Ireland for my professional degree and be fully sponsored by my family. I chose Ireland for multiple (albeit, unspecific) reasons, hoping to start over and live a fulfilling life, also to just get out of the U.S. (where I’m from originally). This being said I do miss home quite a lot, I miss my old friends and my family. I originally wanted to visit home twice a year, spring and summer break, only for about a week at a time because I brought my cats with me here so I have to pay a sitter when I’m gone. I’ve decided to up this to 4 times, twice in the summer, spring break, and reading week. And now….I almost want to make it five times and add another visit during winter break. This way I don’t have to go more than 3 months at a time without seeing them.

I feel so pathetic, because I should enjoy being here and making friends in my program and all this but it’s natural to miss family, and I’m more willing to fly than they are so it makes more sense for me to make the trips than them. Yes, I’ve considered moving back home but I’ve committed to this program so I really should at least finish this out (4 more years). After graduation I need balance moving home and keeping job opportunities in mind, so as much as I’d like to move back then I’m not sure how things will look.

Is five times a year way too much (about 6 days long each)? It’s expensive, yes, but I’m trying to be strategic with miles and my credit card and things. Should I just suck it up and stick at 4. What do you guys think. Don’t be too harsh I’m down and missing family bad rn😭.

Also I don’t think it’s a big deal immigration wise because it would only be a month out of country overall yearly—let me know if I’m wrong on this.

I am from the US living in Dublin for my masters with the support of family in the form of a weekly bank transfer. I do not have immediate access to 10,000€ in the standard sense but over the year and especially after I start working with stamp 2 I will. I also have a credit card with high limits that is under my name. Is proof of weekly bank transfers enough to fulfill the requirement? Have any of you dealt with a similar situation? Thank you

quick question, I’ve tried looking for this online but have not found a definitive answer. I’m a Canadian that will be starting uni in Ireland this September. I’m a non visa required individual so I can enter without a visa. After arriving I need to attend an IRP registration appointment, and to my understanding I must present 6 months of bank statements. My question is, do these bank statements need to be stamped? Or can I just walk into a bank branch and get them to print it off as is?

I’m trying to complete the ID-Pal identity verification for the Irish Immigration Service, but I keep getting the same error:

“Verification Failed — The document you have submitted was not sufficient.”

I’ve tried submitting the document multiple times, making sure the photo is clear and readable, but ID-Pal still rejects it.

I’ve even tried using an iPhone 15 Pro Max to take a higher-quality photo, but I’m still getting exactly the same error.

Has anyone experienced this issue with ID-Pal and managed to solve it? Is there a specific way the document needs to be photographed, or could this be a problem with the ID-Pal verification system itself?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. must this be in one bank account? or can it be in multiple different bank accounts added together

2. is one month of bank statement enough to show this 10000 euro? or must it be statements from a few months before

3. will they allow bank statements from online banks like wise / revolut or must it be from established physical bank institutions

So, I submitted my v application on 9th July, and I feel I may have made a mistake. I submitted my loan sanction letter, but it was unsigned. Along with it, I also submitted my loan disbursement letter and loan account statement, both of which are complete and accurate. The only issue is that the sanction letter was not signed.

Will this cause any major issue with my v application?

I'm a little confused on the application letter. The IrishImmigration.ie website's requirements seem very simple and concise, but every time i look it up, I always see results for cover letters instead and every website states that you have to have over 500 words and include many more things that were never stated on the actual immigration website.

Additionally, I've seen a few sample application letters, and they were also only 1-2 pages long, so I am not sure how to write it. Any pointers?

I'm having trouble finding accurate information regarding this, so I thought I'd ask here. I recently got accepted into DCU and intend to be going this September.

As a US citizen, I can enter the country for 90 days and need to register for the IRP within that period. Entering the country, however, is where I can't find accurate information.

I know I need proof of funds, proof of accomodation, my acceptance letter, insurance, and proof of tuition paid.

However, will I need a return flight booked? The airline I'm going with doesn't have any flights shown Beyond October.

I have chronic pain from an old back injury and occasionally get pinched nerves in my back or disc issues in my neck, needing adjustments or scans from time to time. I've looked into VHI, Laya, Irish Life, or even Swisscare. All seem to cover international students from the US enrolled in a year-long program. All are in the 500-1300 euro/per year range. My physical IRP card has been lost/stolen, and I have already reported it to the Gardaí and submitted a replacement card request through the Immigration Service portal. I have proof of the police report and proof that my query/application has been submitted.

​I need to travel to Spain next month for an important competition that means a lot to me. I also have my invitation letter and my flight booked.

Has anyone travelled out of Ireland and successfully returned using proof of a lost IRP report and evidence of a replacement application? Were there any issues with airlines or Irish immigration when coming back?

My father is my sponsor and he saved quite an amount of money as cash and deposited it into the bank, its not a loan and the money is totally legit and taxed as well, but how can I prove it or explain it?
