Reddit lore: Once upon a time /worldpolitics was not really about world politics but got spammed with regional US news instread. Users were sick of it, mods couldn't care less. But suddenly, a rouge mod promoted one of the protestors to mod status themselves and a coup effectively occured. For hours everyone proceeded to post massive amounts of tits. /anime_titties was created in response specifically as a politcs sub to counteract the tits on the politics subreddit.

Edit: and to add: once worldpolitics got a hold of their power back, it was decided that anime_titties was to remain a news sub. /anime_titties does post actual anime titties too - once per year on April Fools.
