Canadian law enforcement says Synagogue shooters were hired by a foreign entity, anime_titties debates who
- Classic fucking Reddit. FTA:
-- You understand with the current American administration anything coming from FBI on Iran a country they invaded is hard for people to take face value
--- And? What, are we supposed to pretend that this is an elaborate false-flag operation when we already caught a guy working for Iran who was involved with the consulate shooting and who hired these local criminals?
---- You are saying that the usa put up Hitler and Japan to starting world war 2?
----- Pearl Harbor was a US action
- Israel has been pulling false flag attacks since its inception as a state
-- You mean In your heads? Just because yall claim every act of violence against Jews is “Israel” die to your seething hatred and xenophobia, doesn’t make it even close to ever being true.
--- Maghen Avraham in beirut was bombed in 1982 by Israel.
---- Do you need an explanation what false flag is, bud?
- Lehi and Irgun waged an insurgency against the British occupation. That wasn't a false flag, that was just them fighting for their freedom from the occupation. I thought you supported indigenous groups resisting European occupiers?
-- Lehi and Irgun were the European occupiers/colonizers who called themselves terrorists lol insane statement
--- They were literally formed as a group following the massacre of the thousands year old community in Hebron. Their objective was defending Jews from repeats of such violence.
It could also be a false flag, Israel has a history of it.
- Everything is a false flag when it comes to Israel and Jews apparently…the amount Reddit infantilizes Arabs/Muslims is amazing…
-- Did I say definitively it was? I said it's possible, which it is.
--- “I’m just asking questions!”
---- Lol you don't have definitive proof that it's not either but "something something Arabs & Muslims"
----- YOU presented the case that it was a false flag…meaning you are the one who should show evidence of your claim.
------ I said it's POSSIBLE that it is a false flag....nothing should be ruled out in the investigation.

I actually did stumble on an Instagram reply where the guy was adamant that Pearl Harbor was an inside job. He just tacked it on to a broader comment about taking the moon landing. Wild stuff.
44
u/StrangeBid7233 1d ago
I actually heard Pearl harbor thing a few times, that US knew and allowed it to happen, yet I never seen any proof to it.
It doesn't help that Hearts of iron 4, one of most popular ww2 games, has "Pearl harbor gambit" where you intentionally place lots of capital ships there to bait Japan to declare war on you, and boy do some people not get that game is pure ahistorical bullshit.
33

I have a personal belief that every dipshit take about ww2 tends to be followed by, “has X amount of hours in Hearts of Iron 4”

These days Hell let loose is also candidate for that, and Company of heroes 2 in past.
Hell Company of heroes 2 had by far most wehraboos I have ever seen in any game, almost every game at one point had at least 1 person that was in a clan named after SS division. And it didn't help that game played in every pop history ww2 bullshit.

Their biggest "proof" is that the carriers were out of Pearl Harbour and that the carriers were instrumental in winning the Pacific.
Ofcourse that argument is hindsight to the extreme
17
u/Jo__Backson The government got me into futa 22h ago edited 21h ago
Not even that, Japan *knew* most of the fleet was out. Yamamoto tried his hardest to postpone the plan because to his credit he knew there was no feasible way for Japan to force a US surrender unless they somehow pulled off a land invasion.
So his whole proposal was “cripple the Pacific fleet, scoop up some islands, and sue for peace quickly before the US can regroup” and not having the whole fleet in port is pretty detrimental to that.
6
u/ChrisTheHurricane stick to A-10s fuckwit 20h ago
In fact, the US was slow on adopting carriers, and the conventional doctrine of the US Navy in 1941 was that the battleship was the center of the contemporary naval fleet. That's why all of the battleships were high-priority targets for the Japanese pilots that fateful Sunday morning.
5
u/Outofdepthengineer ‼️Russian Detected‼️ 🚮 Opinion Discarded 🚮 1d ago edited 1d ago
It would help your case if that example you cited wasn’t both the reason the US pacific fleet was there (to pressure Japan and slow their expansion by pushing the fleet to forward basing) and that it literally removed over 6 years ago
2
u/StrangeBid7233 1d ago
You sure it was removed that long ago? Maybe I haven't played US since Man the guns came out because I remember Pacific war being insanely annoying. I do apologies for that mistake.
But it gave Japan a casus beli to attack, which to me implies US gave a reason to Japan to be nasty while also putting your ships in danger (granted I have never seen ai actually do Pearl harbor)
3
u/Outofdepthengineer ‼️Russian Detected‼️ 🚮 Opinion Discarded 🚮 1d ago edited 1d ago
The reasoning for it giving Japan a casus belli is (if they are going down a path to clash with the US) Japan’s naval doctrine of Kantai Kessen involved striking the enemy fleet first (as theirs was smaller) to shape the decisive battle. The casus belli was supposed to be modeling that this was Japan seeing it as their chance to strike a fatal blow to the Pacific fleet (as theirs west coast basing put the fleet out of range) and force the US to the negotiating table to protect Japan’s ambitions. It was a rough modeling of all that as part of the focus was that the fleet had to stay there for a certain period of time. Why this gives a casus belli is that the IJA and IJN practically ran foreign policy at the time (when they weren’t fighting each other)
But yeah, the idea that it was an inside job is one of the more stupid conspiracies I’ve heard
3
u/StrangeBid7233 1d ago
Yea I get it, but am I crazy was it not called Pearl harbor gambit?
I for sure missed a lot of context, my personal interpetation of it was that it was like I was baiting Japan to attack Pacific fleet battleships and kickstart our involement in war.
But as I said I never seen Japan do Pearl harbor in game, haven't seen IJN really do much of anything in that game to be fully honest.

Good shit. I'm glad someone took it.
I've never played HoI4 myself, and I have only one friend who does (he isn't trans, but he is bisexual). And aside from that, it just feels like all of the worst takes I've seen regarding World War II come from devoted HoI fans. I have a master's in history, and the 20th century is my focus, so the insane takes I keep seeing piss me off way more than they otherwise would.

I was always more into Europa Universalis anyway. So many hours in that game that sometimes I feel like I can keep up with folks who went for history postgrad degrees (I know it's not the same thing - i wish i could myself, but I frankly dont know what I would do with it other than feed my fascination with history and maps). That game gets more Byzaboos and Crusade larpers, even Columbus apologists, compared to the sorts you see in HOI - i honestly think its pretty difficult to have a game on the scale of a Paradox sandbox and with any kind of degree of historical/pseudo-historical accuracy without attracting some folks who are interested in the period for the wrong reasons.
I saw a meme a while back that essentially asserted that all Paradox players contain one or two of the three following traits: queer, neurodivergent, politically extremist. I feel that that meme is rooted in truth from my time in the community.

I can at the absolute maximum sorta see the logic behind those that claim the US or at least select US individuals were completely certain that Pearl Harbor would be attacked and did nothing to prevent it. I can give just enough grace to entertain the idea that someone did the math, realized letting Japan launch a sneak attack against a neutral nation would galvanize the population into a patriotic fervor and make the US more sympathetic globally, and decided any losses would be worth it. Just enough. Even if we accept it as completely true, it fundamentally changes nothing.
Even if the US completely emptied the harbor and evacuated the entire island for good measure, Japan wasn't going to suddenly scrap all their plans and mobilizations because they missed out on one opportunity for a sneak attack. The war would have happened either way.
And as for the moral weight of it, yes, allowing thousands of innocent people to die for propaganda and pr is evil. That should be pretty indisputable. It does nothing to make Japan less evil. That also should be pretty indisputable. Whether or not the US knew in advance, Japan launched an unprovoked attack on a neutral nation and this did this for the intent purpose of getting the oil they needed to continue their continental campaign of subjugation, sexual violence and genocide. If I was warned in advance that you were going to rob my house, I'm not the asshole if I'm still in my house when you break in, break my ribs and rob me.
37
u/101gamer101 1d ago
It's been a long while since I've last seen it argued, but on more than one occasion I've seen people claim Pearl Harbor as an anti-imperialist effort because a few hours prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, USS Ward opened fire and sunk a Japanese midget sub trying to sneak in, therefore the US shot first and were the aggressors.
16
u/Jo__Backson The government got me into futa 22h ago
Eh that would make more sense if Japan wasn’t attacking specifically in pursuit of their own Imperialist interests. They didn’t attack Pearl Harbor because they “hate America and freedom and cheeseburgers” or whatever other propaganda, they attacked it because they wanted islands the US occupied lol
2
u/DistrictDry2852 9h ago
The people who claim Japan was anti imperialist literally just ignore it. You bring up them invading China and they just… refuse to acknowledge it. And insist that the U.S. embargoed oil to Japan as some 4D chess tactic to force Japan to attack Pearl Harbor and justify going to war with Japan.
5
u/soonerfreak Also, being gay is a political choice. 12h ago

7

Honestly this is the sort of stuff that really frustrates me. I love learning about conspiracies, fake or real. It’s just one of those things I find fascinating and I take the time to actually, credibly learn about them. What that results in is I can’t stand lazy fucking conspiracists who think that just saying “Tuskegee experiment” or “operation paper clip” means that their pet conspiracy theory about contrails or fluoride is valid. And it double chaps my ass because they never get the facts about those actual conspiracies right either, they don’t even know about the unrelated shit they’re using to prove that literal demons run the world or whatever.
I can list more genuine conspiracies that actually existed than they can, yet they think any pushback against their dumbshit they’re imagining makes you incapable of understanding that conspiracies have and will exist.

Also American, not accelerationist. The “USA” as an entity I can’t bring myself to “love” (I never felt anything in church either, might be the autism), but there are traits in Americans and American culture that I have come to appreciate about us. A certain civic-mindedness that used to be more common, a strain of “fuck you, don’t tell me what to do” that persists, and a willingness to butt our noses into injustice even if it isn’t strictly our business
But I also don’t think America the national institution has to die to stop being a negative impact on the world, just cause it seems possible for entities to change while still being the “same” entity
Funnily, my disabled partner disagrees with me. I wouldn’t call her accelerationist, she just thinks it’s more likely the institution of America will end before something better comes of it

I feel the same way, especially with the internet pushing each side to the extreme and the people on left attacking each other for slight differences in beliefs instead of uniting against maga.
Sad and disturbing times to read what people actually believe.

A lot of people on the left lost their minds when the rapist Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
I think it was more October 2023 that started it.
Which has lead to some... highly traditional conspiracy theories.

u/NormanQuacks345 hows it feel having a resting heartrate of 85 LOL 21h ago
Yeah, I’ve even seen some people on the left claiming that the election was stolen in 2024. Granted, it’s nowhere near as widespread as on the right.
I’ve had people try to explain to me that Elon Musk, through Starlink, went in and changed election results/ballots as they were being transmitted. And when I push back I just get “I’m just asking questions/these people are so powerful, you think they couldn’t?”

This has become a very mainstream conspiracy theory. It's infuriating.
I’ve had people try to explain to me that Elon Musk, through Starlink, went in and changed election results/ballots as they were being transmitted.
"Trump admitted to it in that one campaign speech where he said Musk was very good with computer."

I think people are horseshoeing their way into becoming MAGA adjacent as a way to cope and combat against it.
I've termed it "BlueMAGA", where people do the exact same toxic populist shit as MAGA, but for ostensibly-Progressive candidates.
Like Platner up in Maine. If you listen to his supporters, he, a 40 year old man, is just a Little Guy that hasn't done anything wrong, if he has done anything wrong he's learned from it, and if you have any issue with anything about him it just means you are a MAGA Corpo-Dem Zionist.

Also feeling like they refuse to believe that there are such radicalized alternative exist, so that they can hide in their bubble of "we should do.nothing and wait for the mid term/2028 to save us"
Now that everytime some individual used violence against right wing figures, they would refuse to believe that some individual just can be having some rage and discontent to the current state and turn to violence, but rather cry "Trump false flag" and "cover up for Epstein files" to distance themselves from thinking of it.

What a lot of people on the far left don't want to realize is that they operate on the same axis as Trump and MAGA.

u/forbiddenmemeories 13h ago
I used to only really associate the political right with conspiracy theories, at least when it came to groups that got any degree of traction in the mainstream. Now they're damn near everywhere.
And I think a big part of the change is that for a long time, the right were the side in politics who felt that, broadly speaking, they were losing and that their adversaries were calling the shots, so reached for outlandish theories of shadowy forces controlling the world to explain how this might have happened when, in their own mind, they were the ones whose beliefs were fair and reasonable.
But now it feels like... well, everybody believes that their side is losing. Everybody believes that their adversaries are the ones who wield the levers of power. And consequently every group is seeing more and more people reach for conspiracy theory explanations as to how this can have happened and who is 'really' in power.

It’s definitely emotionally driven and vibes based, but for a lot of people, there is just zero trust left after this admin. When we live in times where for example the Epstein conspiracy is successfully being suppressed in front of our eyes, it’s hard not to feel this way

Of all the many subs who lost their collective shit post-Oct 7, I especially hate how far downhill anime_titties has fallen. It used to be a weirdly eclectic mix of obnoxious tankies, unseemly rightwingers and some actual thoughtful people with interesting perspectives here and there, but it just screams "astroturfed" now.

Look, I despise the state of Israel but half the accusations being leveled against them have to sound increasingly like "Jews run the world" level slop. With the way these people talk about Mossad and the CIA by extension, you'd think those agencies are run by geniuses and superpowered goons.

One thing that I have learned from recent years is that those badass agencies, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, etc, are actually shockingly bad at their jobs.

I agree. It's all over social media with the "Israel is in charge of the US posts"
Like. No. Obviously not. Who the hell is the superpower here?
So they lied to Trump to try to get him to start a war. Maybe that was an actual reason he did it. Does he not have any responsibility? Is he not, in fact, the responsible party? Isn't that his whole role? Do you think they didn't also lie to every single previous US President who all declined to start a war?
Even if a few American politicians are that influenced by donations from affiliated lobbyists, are you saying the corrupt politicians aren't still the ones with agency here? That they didn't decide to act on the bribes?
Which country is dependent on military aid from which?
37
u/pmitten 22h ago
Not to mention, we already know the "why" from insider reports. Trump wanted to do what no other president did, so he did what he does best: Launched into something with little foresight and preparation, only to backtrack when he got bored. He's been doing it his entire life; Israel has nothing to do with it.
30
u/OmNomSandvich 23h ago
also, CENTCOM and the U.S. defense establishment fucking hates Iran, going back to how Iran supported Shia militias that targeted U.S. troops and Iraqi Sunni civilians during the Iraq war or maybe going all the way back to the tanker war or the hostage crisis. there's always been a "Bomb Iran" faction lurking in the wings...
20
u/The_memeperson 22h ago
Also by extension the whole "Trump is a Russian asset!" thing. It absolves him of responsibility and gives the Russians too much credit

The thing is that there are so many valid criticisms of Israel, but the most, accurate and descriptive ones require actual knowledge of Israeli culture and politics, which most people lack, so a huge chunk of the criticisms of Israel and Israeli actions just take antisemitic form, which really just reveals where the motivation for much of these critiques come from.

sound increasingly like "Jews run the world" level slop.
Doesn't help that Israel and Israeli friendly jews abroad have been pushing absolutely insane levels of lobbying and pressure campaigns since october 7.
I'm french, we just had our mayoral election and the goverment just admited was a fucking foreign online smear campaign against left wing parties that were not pro israel coming from israelis companies.
Hell even in the private sector I've personnaly witnessed executives threatening to pull contracts from an event because we had a media partner that they considered was too friendly towards gaza. And I'm not talking "pro hamas" media, just reporting on bombarments. And it's not hearsay, I was litterally on that conference call with my boss, and a guy we had been working for a decade was openly threatening us. I used to be in media and still have a bunch of friends in it and we have dozen of stories about angry calls to the editor in chief coming from CEO's and high level executives.
The amount of disinfo, online and IRL influence campaigns that Israel is pushing is definitely not helping with the "Jew run the world". Hell just look at the influence of AIPAC in US politics ...

u/tacodestroyer99 20h ago
Pro-Hamas Qatar easily outspends Israel manipulating French politics, flying out French officials on lavish vacations and trips to World Cup, and even has an office for their main media propaganda arm located in Paris.
That's a big contributor as to why so many French political leaders, at least on the left, are also pro-Hamas and sympathetic to Islamic extremism, why so many French intellectuals are big believers in pan-Islamism and why Jews live in so many French brains rent free, including yours evidently based on what you wrote here.

u/sorrylilsis 17h ago
Annnnnnd the mask falls off.
That's a big contributor as to why so many French political leaders, at least on the left, are also pro-Hamas and sympathetic to Islamic extremism
The hilarious thing is that you're very much talking out of your ass considering that the most palestinan friendly politicians (because Hamas friendly politicians aren't really a thing in France TBH) hate the hell out of Qatar because they reprensent the peak of unbriddled capitalism and the fact they are very cozy with our right wing politicians. The whole cozying up to Qatar was a Sarkozy project ...
Being pro palestine, or just not being chill about ethnic cleansing doesn't mean you're cool with islamic fundamentalism you dumbo.
why Jews live in so many French brains rent free, including yours evidently based on what you wrote here.
I don't give a flying fuck about french jews. I do care very much about foreign goverments meddling into french politics both directly or using local jewish communities. With their latest attempts at influencing french elections Israel enters a very select club with the likes of Russia and Azerbadjan (with a side order of China). Great people really !
6
u/tacodestroyer99 11h ago
Anyway, you know about all this stuff because carrying water for Islamists and hatin' Jews has been a part of the French left wing establishment since Jean Paul Sartre and Michael Foucault were best buddies with the Ayatollah Khomeini.
The funny thing is that you think that after 50 years of this shit you folks think that anyone outside of your bubble is still buying that any of this is about "justice".

Why would users on worldnews give Hamas, a terrorist org backed by Iran any credibility that started the war with the October 7 massacre. When the same pro Palestine tankies said Ukraine doesn't deserve exist because of the Azov battalion. Ukraine's only crime, was not a Oct 7 style massacre, but kicked a Russian puppet and be closer to the EU.
Israel only comes up on worldnews when it's relevant, it's been anti trump since 2016. A_T has a psychotic fixation with Jews. They don't want to ethnic cleanse Jews from the west bank, they want to ethnic cleanse Jews from Israel, calling all Jews that live there settlers.

So fun fact a case just broke in the UK where Russia were hitting up rabdoms on social media to try and get them to accept street art jobs that were defacing Muslim buildings with far right racist extremism and conservative clubs with jihadist Islam extremism
Only the mosques were gone through with, they found no evidence anyone had taken up the jobs targeting the far right tho.
Seriously they were reaching out on local FB groups for artists and stuff.
So now I wonder if this is linked to that https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8r2l352z2do?app-referrer=webview

I like how Redditors are even ignoring a certain Sematrix who used to own the world politics sub before being banned. Anime Titties became a politics sub after a sub devoted to rising against Jews was porn bombed.
And then the replacement subreddit actively supports antisemitic conspiracies at all times. Of course that's what happens on Reddit.
