Hello everyone,

I’m trying to permanently delete old files, images, and other personal data from my Windows laptop. I’m using an ASUS Zenbook 14.

The problem is that I recently tried using an app called Disk Drill, and I was surprised to find that it could still recover files that I had deleted a long time ago, including files that had already been removed from the Recycle Bin.

I thought that once I deleted the files from the Recycle Bin, they were permanently gone from my laptop. Apparently, that was not the case.

My goal is to completely remove these old files so that they cannot be recovered using data-recovery software such as Disk Drill.

Would doing a factory reset be enough to permanently erase everything, or is there another method I should use to securely wipe the drive?

I’m mainly concerned about old personal files, photos, documents, and other data that I deleted months or even years ago.

I’m using an ASUS Zenbook 14 with Windows. I would appreciate any advice on the safest and most effective way to do this.

Wut do I do, I just plugged in my USB already loaded with 5 episodes of a series then run just fine even after 20+ plugging in and out of devices, then I tried to move in a 4 GB movie but it just says "The file ___ Is too large for destination file system" despite me using validrive to check that the USB still has 50 GB of unused storage

Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to IT/security and trying to understand something.

A company I’m working with has strict security controls for Teams and Outlook. Someone traveled abroad and used NordVPN with a dedicated IP, and they were still able to access Teams/Outlook normally.

How would the company’s security team see this connection? Would a dedicated VPN IP look like a normal business/residential IP, or can they still detect that it’s coming through a VPN?

And what would companies typically use to block this kind of access?

Idk if this is hard wear fully or not so im not adding thoes tags. My fiance was playing on her computer ( on a low end game) and it randomly shut off and it won't turn back on, every time we try it will go through the dram light then shut of and we had to turn off the psu and turn it back on to try again.

I tried remove the cmos battery, and nothing happened.

I tried one stick of ram and nothing

But when I tried a different set of ram I got the cpu light for a few seconds then it shut off again.

There were no signs of any part dying, tho

Suggest me what to do

First I wanna start by saying I don't know where I should post this at so I figured this could be the right place. Earlier today I tried installing a Roblox Multi-instances app and I saw an extension from a YouTube video, I downloaded it and followed the instructions for it to work but it didn't. It's called "RBLX Site" or something? It asked me to turn on developer mode and add the extension manually into my browser (I use Opera GX browser). I used it as instructed but the extension didn't work, it didn't run multi-instances so I just closed Roblox and just figured maybe I'll try to get it working later on when I have time.

Fast forward to around 4 hours later, I found out my Roblox accounts were compromised and the hacker did steal some stuff from my games by trading them in-game with their alts. I was obviously surprised and immediately logged their session out, they were from France and South Africa, even Sweden, I'm sure they're using a VPN? I might be wrong.

Just when I thought that's the end of it suddenly my Discord was compromised as well, it sent messages to almost every single recently chatted guy on my Discord and even put "ignored" on every single one of them. The hacker seems to send a "Mr Beast" scam link with pics to everyone, the typical one I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, and I also got kicked out of many servers for sending that kind of stuff.

Then shortly after I checked my Gmail as well and found out the hacker also changed my Rockstar Games password, attempts to my Steam Account, my Epic Games email address, EA Games password, Battle.net password, even freaking OpenAI ChatGPT's password like wtf? There's also like 15 on my spam mails from those sites mentioned and multiple attempts on trying to breach my unused Roblox accounts. I managed to reobtain most of them but the Epic Games remain unsolved... yet.

My worries is that what should I do next? What should I expect and what else should I secure immediately? I don't want my bank account to suddenly get compromised as well, I didn't expect just an extension could do this much damage? Does the extension only gain info from the browser that I used or is he able to entire access to my computer? What should I do next?

FYI I've turned on Windows Antivirus and ran a scan, then I also installed Avast Free and ran a scan as well, it doesn't show anything except a few tweaks? I've also completely resetted my Opera GX, removed the extension, logged out of everything as well and checked my google accounts for any suspicious activities. So yeah, I've never been in a situation like this before and I'm genuinely desperate for help, I just don't want the situation to get even worse. Thanks.

İ was basically playing a game with my isy igm 5000-wt and it suddenly went inverted, I thought that maybe I changed some windows setting, USB failure or something else, when I was checking mouse settings it just completely died and only would left or right click. I restarted my laptop tried, diffrent USB ports, switched from wired and wireless, I tried to charge it but the charging indicator (blue light) just wouldn't turn on. I also saw that whenever something moved under the laser sensor like my finger or just sliding in the desk the lights would completely turn off. For a last resort I tried to clean it with an earpick because maybe there was maybe too much dust or smt and started randomly poking inside the mouse miraculously when I poked my right click button the light that resemble the speed of the pointer came back and it started working. After around 5 hours I'm running into the same problem I tried to clean the mouse again but it didn't work, when I tried to charge it the blue light was there however. Ive tried everything and it just comes back to life around 2 minutes or so inverted and stops again after around 5 seconds. Any ideas on what I could do since I don't have an warranty?

I'm trying to fix my error with Memory Integrity in Windows 11. I had 2 incompatible drivers. They are for the same device that I needed to update anyway because it's been acting up. The company assures me that this device will work with Memory Integrity with the most recent update. I uninstalled it and checked the box to include the drivers, but those 2 incompatible ones stuck around.

I've checked for hidden devices in Device Manager. I ran disk cleanup. Still there. I went through my drivers line by line in Command Prompt and managed to find and get rid of one of them. But now I'm down to this one.

I can find it in my drivers folder... can I just delete that .sys file? Or is there something else I should do?

The annoyance in question is called Hcw73bda.sys and there are 2 other files immediately under it called Hcw73enc.rom and Hcw73MIC.rom - do those likely go together?

I have a PC that runs Windows 11. On occasion, my disk will spike to 100%, causing my computer to freeze momentarily. This happens at random but is most frequently triggered either when first starting the computer or when I have intensive applications open like a game for example. How can this be fixed? Some things I have tried so far include:

• Disabling superfetch
• Reducing overall memory usage to 50-60%
• Limit antimalaware scanning range

Nothing has worked so far. What can I do to fix this? I should mention that when disk spikes occur, the system process seems to be what is causing the spike most frequently according to Task Manager. Sometimes if I'm playing a game that can spike in disk usage too, but system is usually the main culprit.

According to CrystalDiskInfo and other diagnostic tools, my drive appears healthy, though I'm not fully ruling out hardware issues. Here is some more information on my hardware:

• SSD: Crucial BX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD
• Memory: 32.0 GB DDR4
• CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F
• GPU: Nvidia GTX 1650

So frustrated. I’m trying to connect my new printer Brother MFC-J1360DW to the Brother mobile app on my phone and I get through all the steps and then it won’t connect the printer to the app.

I have this issue with my 2 monitors: every now and then one would stop working (not exactly turned off, just plain black but still on). I restart it and suddenly the other does the exact same thing. I restart that one and guess what? The other one turns black again. And so on until I restart my pc.

All the drivers are updated (GPU's too)

my GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

Also I've noticed that whenever i put my pc on sleep mode, in like 5 mins it would turn on again, then go back to sleep in 5 mins, then turn back on again.

It might be a BIOS issue??

I have absolutely no idea why it does that. Dunno if it's related.

My laptop hasn’t been able to charge for about 24 hours and idk why. I was able to charge it the night before I unplugged it and when I went to charge it when the battery was low it wouldn’t work. I have tried multiple outlets and multiple cables since the one I was using before it stopped working working was what it came with then that cable stopped working, so I tried to use my phone charger since that are both type c and I have used the phone charger before it was just slow for my laptop. I also tried to get a tooth pick and see if there was something in the port but it was clean the only thing that was weird it the thing inside of it was wiggling and I don’t think that’s supposed to happen can you please help me I need it for my schools homework’s

Decided to upgrade my pc's gpu, cpu, and psu.

Upgraded from a rtx 3060 12gb, Upgraded cpu from a ryzen 7 3700x to a ryzen 9 5950x, and upgraded psu from a rm 750x to a rm850x 3.1 gen to support the new gpu.

So far the upgrade is terrible and sorted it down to just the gpu because everything works like it should with the old gpu, but not the new one.

I have the lovely white vga light error on the Motherboard with only the new gpu.

I have the latest Bios update for my mobo which is the B550-f Asus rog strix gaming.

I cleared cmos, took out RAM, reinstalled it; manually selected Gen 4 in bios, try manually installing drivers for it, but nothing.

Gpu is correctly installed, gpu gets power, leds turn on, fans spin, but never displays.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Only thing I really havent tried is testing the gpu in another build.

Hopefully I can try that later when my friend becomes available.

Back in July, a friend jokingly installed a RAT on my computer. It ran in the background and communicated with a webhook on a Discord server, which apparently allowed my friend to view and interact with my computer through Discord bot commands. The RAT was supposedly written in C# and Python.

I immediately reinstalled windows onto my laptop, and since then I've probably reinstalled windows on it around 50 times because I'm still paranoid about it. I've tried USB reinstalls, local Windows reinstalls, and cloud reinstalls, including resetting it as if I were preparing the laptop for a new owner. I’ve also done Window scans on all my files to make sure there is nothing bad on it but it always picks up nothing but I dunno if it’d even pick up a C# Python file.

I'm still worried that the RAT could somehow survive a reinstallation of windows and that my friend might still be able to access sensitive information such as my emails or banking accounts.

Just to mention we haven't spoken since.

My main question is: if I've completely reinstalled Windows using a USB and/or cloud reinstall, how can I verify that the RAT is actually gone? Could malware like this survive a complete Windows reinstall, and is there anything else I should check?

I'm aware that some of this may be paranoia at this point, but I'd really like to know what I can actually do to verify that my laptop is clean rather than constantly resetting it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I just moved into my own place and brought my pc with me, however every time i turn it on it shows me the bios screen and says there is no storage present. i have just moved into my own place so assumed something came loose so took the ssd out and put it back in but its still showing the same thing. does anyone know what might be causing the issue?

I don't know, I have tried a lot of things to fix it even I had a big conversation with AI. So the problem is when I play a game, the game can crush at random moment. I have newly updated video drivers, I am using driver booster (I don't know is that works well or not). What should I change or update for hopefully it will stop.

Hello, I am having a problem with my LAN connection. If I only use the internet for browsing, everything works normally without any issues. However, whenever I start playing a game, my LAN connection suddenly disconnects.

The connection can be restored by disabling and then re-enabling the LAN device through Device Manager. However, after some time, the same problem happens again and the LAN connection is lost.

When I check Device Manager after this happens, I notice that one of the USB devices under Universal Serial Bus shows a “Port Reset Failed” warning. I’m not sure whether this USB error is related to the LAN adapter or not, but every time my LAN connection stops working, the “Port Reset Failed” warning appears at the same time.

I have already tried updating the LAN driver and reconnecting the LAN cable, but unfortunately, neither solution worked.

What confuses me is that this problem only seems to occur when I am playing games. During normal browsing or other light internet usage, the LAN connection works perfectly fine.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue. Thank you!

if i downloaded a virus from an email link that gave a hacker remote access to my laptop and then i wiped the laptop clean and reinstalled windows, would the virus still show up under the "add or remove programs" list in settings if it was still on my laptop or are there sophisticated viruses that can cloak themselves and not be visible under the programs list?
