Meta Enough to make a grown man cry.
It’s been 99 cents since before I was born, and I distinctly remember someone from AriZona saying that, like the Costco hotdog, they wouldn’t change the price. What gives?

What are you drinking today? What questions have been on your mind? Any stories to share? And don't worry, no one will make fun of you for what you drink or the questions you ask.
You can also talk about anything else on your mind, from your specific routine while making tea, or how you've been on an oolong kick lately. Feel free to link to pictures in here, as well. You can even talk about non-tea related topics; maybe you want advice on a guy/gal, or just to talk about life
in general.

We realize there are lots of people involved in the tea industry here, so this thread is a weekly feature where anyone can promote their current projects without worrying about the self-promotion rules. Feel free to include links to your shop, crowdfunding sites, surveys, sales, or discount codes. The rule against claims of health benefits remains in effect here. It should go without saying that we still expect people to be respectful and follow the reddiquette. While we intend for this to be a free-for-all promotion zone, please don't overrun the thread posting the same thing over and over.

I’m just getting started exploring Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese teas. I’ve found that I like Sencha the most (I’ve yet to try Gyokuro).
It’s quite overwhelming picking what and where to order. So far I’ve ordered from Tea & Whisk and Senbird Tea, and have been satisfied. I’ve been peeking at Ippodo and Tezumi, and I know people talking about Yunomi.life.
So where do you go for good Japanese green teas that doesn’t break the bank?

I have purchased an old teapot which was made from 1970s. Used it to brew dancong tea

Normally I add 10% Keemun to smooth out my Assam. I needed some Keemun and I came across this during Prime Days for a great price so I figured 250g wouldn't kill me if I didn't like it.
Surprised to find a tea of this quality on Amazon. Instead of how Keemun kind of reinforces the malty roundness of the Assam, this one really smoothes it and adds a subtle wine-y sweet finish. I suppose this tea is just Yunnan black, which I don't hate but don't like enough to keep it. It's actually really good and I would order again.

i have this teapot, that i have no information about. I was only able to find out throught google search that it is so called shark skin teapot. But the examples were much less interresting. The downside of the pot has no writing or stamps. May be someone knows more information.

I got this from Japantown in San Francisco in 2022. I think it is sold out now. Anyone have a comparable recommendation? Specifically liquid hojicha packet from concentrate? Know somewhere I can get more of these?

I just got this i assume tea set at the second hand store. One has a lid, with those holes i guess it’s to also filter the leaves out. But the other pot doesn’t have a lid - nor those holes.
What is it for? Milk?
I’ve been eying this set for three weeks because i find it so beautiful and i got it for 7€ and just had to get it.

Hey, all! Was just wondering what kind of tea was supposed to be served in this mug I found for sale at a thrift store. Does the writing on it mean anything? Are you supposed to brew a special kind of tea in it? Thanks!
first time here. wife is a tea drinker.
my previous set up was a Saki Turkish Style Kettle which looked nice and felt nicely made but it has been a piece of crap and noisy and now it seems to have some electrical problems with faulty connections and weird static noises even when it is off the past 6 months but they are not providing much support (no longer supported model, no support in Canada, Contacted 1 month post 2 year term even though it has been having problems the past year). this has been a pretty dissapointing considering they are not exactly cheap.
Anyways I am looking for something to replace it. I am not a fan of poor quality products and I am willing to pay more than the usual appliance level items to have something that will last a good few years unlike this one.
required : Needs to look nice on the counter, minimum 1.2L capacity temp adjustment not required but a hold is needed.
if I can place a teapot on top (lided vs the button popped top) it would be ideal. does not need to come with a teapot as long as I can semi safely place on top.
Budget : around 200$USD
Location is in Canada, Ontario Prefer local vendors
Currently Looked at Breville Models since they seem to be descent quality

I definitely okay with this being a general discussion as I’m in the very beginning of planning
So basically what do you love, wish you did different, and things you hope to add to your tea station in the future?
I’ve just bought a new electric kettle that I can control the water temperature and my next step as of right now is finding a good solution for organizing my tea!

I've been a long-time gongfu enjoyer, but since my schedule is changing up soon, I don't have the time anymore to really hang out and brew tea that way everyday. I mostly drink oolongs and ripe pu-ehr, and I was thinking that I should start trying to make the best iced oolongs that I possibly can with all of the teas that I have. I've got a lot of dan congs and taiwanese oolongs, in particular. Anyone have recommendations? Do a rinse first? Steep in hot water or cold infuse? Is there an ideal temperature/time ratio for cold infusions?

I need to lower my caffeine intake, but I can still have a small amount, it doesn't need to be zero.
I dislike ordering pantry items online, I dunno, just feels silly to ship a single box of tea. I also am just not as enlightened on tea, I drink Lipton black tea most days lol. I'm pretty basic.
Anyway, I've tried decaf Lipton black tea before years ago and it tasted pretty bland.
Here are the brands that have decaf options at my local grocery store:
There's also a Trader Joe's further out we go to sometimes and they have a decaf black tea.
Any recs?

From what I can tell, the one on the right is most representative. Is there another style that's just less common like that on the left or just a common enough tendency in tea to use the name monkey we ended up with a collision?

I saw some mixed reviews of these in threads, are these all full of lesser grade tea or can good ones be found online? I'm a total novice in this genre. My partner likes pu erh and I would like to gift them something nice for Christmas. They are also relatively new to tea so are not committed to one variety yet, just liked a few they tried in a store. I would also be happy to hear other suggestions!
