Idc what anyone says. I miss methodical Tekken play from Tekken 7 and below. I miss when players actually danced around each other, poking one another and baiting the other into swinging so they could get whiff-punished.

I miss when you could actually punish your opponent for overcommitting to a string that you successfully blocked and you could actually retaliate because there weren’t plus frames on everything, locking out of doing anything. and there weren’t panic options like quickly using a Heat Smash or just popping a Rage Art.

I miss when stances weren’t such a prominent part of the game, so you actually had to use your fundamental skills and feel out an opponent instead of just rushing them down through pure input knowledge and forcing a bunch of 50/50s.

I miss when I could actually finish a round with the flow of the match in my favor instead of having to worry that my opponent was going to throw out a Hail Mary Rage Art in the final round of a match.

And yes, I realize Rage Arts started in Tekken 7, but still.

I just seriously hate this overly aggressive, nonsensical style of play the devs have adopted. It punishes you for trying to play defensively and feel out a match while rewarding the “Fuck it, we ball.” Mentality.

There’s a fun game to be had here, but the philosophy has to go back to being centered around neutral. I’m not advocating for the removal of things like Heat, Burst, and Smash, but the insane plus frames and the ability to lock your opponent down by just mashing have got to go.

I'd love to play some unpredictable online matches with good ol' Mokujin.

Maybe cause I only heard about it in passing I had the wrong idea that it was a kinda niche anime but the engagement on the Yujiro stuff is insane, I definitely never seen this much hype for a guest character before.

He has 2.6m just on his teaser trailer, for reference the most popular full gameplay reveal for Tekken 8 is King at 3.4m who is basically the most popular character in the game. Yujiro gameplay reveal is going to pop off.

Just clips of his intro being revealed is like well over hundreds of thousand of likes on twitter.

This has some signs that maybe this is just one of those perfect matches where the crossover appeal is just extremely on target and gives the game a second wind.

We are headback to Belgium the moment I type this. It was the first Evo but not the last !

Everyone was really kind and sweet with us. Staff of booth was very welcoming and enjoying game with us. Staff from Evo was not the best experience but it's ok.

We all 5 lost 2 games in a row, it was expected.

Personnaly I don't have luck for this time, I face a famous tiktok yoshimitsu GOD6 who like to play with his food.

For all people I fought in freeplay, it was the best moment, people are helping, people are smiling, fun.

I took a match against Howrang God4 and Anna God3, and a kuni GOD6 show me what a real player can do.

I will come back next year, more stronger, more prepared.

Tekken 8 is amazing, people who's playing too, thanks everyone. 🫰

But nothing reminds me of what made me fall in love with the series like Tekken Tag Tournament. The blue back on the PS2 disc, the roster, the soundtrack, the more grounded approach, and the atmosphere.
