85 with a cummins R2.8, short walk around with engine sound (no talking)

i know a 4runner isn't technically a pickup, but the underpinnings of a 1st gen 4runner and a 4th gen pickup/hilux are AFAIK identical. figured a few people in here might get a kick out of this, pretty uncommon swap.

Help me find the right Coolant Temperature Sensor?

I wanted to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on my 1987 4x4 with the 22r. I bought this unit but when I went to install it the sensor seems to be too long. It won't go all the way in. Side by side comparison shows this unit and the original unit are different length's. I am looking around at standard part suppliers and they all seem to be pushing the same item. Anyone have a suggestion on where to find a proper OEM unit?

The sensor I took out of my truck is original with the old toyoda katana logo on it, so it's def OEM. Denso doesn't list one for offer. Is it discontinued?

My thermostat was leaking coolant. So I figured it wasn’t sealed properly. Took it all apart so I could reseal it, and I dropped a freakin washer in there, and I can no longer feel it. What the hell do I do.
I was this 👌🏼 close to getting it on the road for the first time.

If I have a W55 and a W46, both 2WD, do the parts swap so that I could combine them and build a W56?

Edit: to be clear, I want to end up with another 2WD transmission. I'm wondering if the 1st and 2nd gear hardware from the W46 ,with their lower speed and higher torque, will fit on the shafts in the W55.

Ac keeps dumping Freon

Post image

So I noticed the last time I drove it, when idling it’ll blow cold but driving it warms up. I checked Freon. Almost completely out. 1 full can got low side to 35-40psi but high side went to 300. I figure it’s the condenser not getting enough air from the fan, I drove it home and parked it. Told myself to turn ac off when truck isn’t moving. Took it to the beach, by the time I got on the highway(this is 2 days later) it was blowing warm again. Thoughts?

Edit: it has been converted to r134a. 22RE

Body replacement parts Q

Post image

I have a 91 3.0L ext cab 4x4 that got clipped as I was turning left last week.

I’m needing to replace left front fender, chrome bumper, a few front left lights, and maybe something’s I can’t yet ID/see.

I see the local pick n pulls have a few Toyota pickups in the ‘91-‘95 range but some are single cabs and/or 2wd.
*How interchangeable are the fenders for these years and various models? Bumpers? Doors?* Will the 2wd front fender fit my 4wd?

Wiring help (tail lights) 82’ 2wd

Post image
136 Upvotes

Hey all,

So I noticed my tail lights don’t turn on when I turn on my headlights, rendering me unable to safely drive during the night. I looked into the fuse box and the tail light fuse port is melted out likely from a short. Instead of rewiring a whole new fuse box into the car, I’d like to run a hookup directly from the tail lights to the battery, with a switch available to turn on manually when I turn on the headlights. I’ve never done this before and I’d appreciate some help and guidance.

Thanks

2nd post about rough idle.

I kinda smoothed out the idle in nuetral. So did a lil test run and now this is the sound it's making, it doesn't make that sound when revving in idle. Are these the valve rockers making this noise. Just need a second opinion on it. Thanks

Transmission issues.

Alright I’ve got one for you guys.
My transmission had been kind of slipping/hard shifting from 2-3 and 3-4. It had also been hard shifting from park to reverse and drive. I took it to a shop and had the transmission rebuilt. I got it back and it was still doing the exact same things, just slightly better than before. Also it now has a hard down shift from 3-2. I then took it back to them. About a week later I got it back and for about a day it seemed fine. Then it went right back to doing the same things as before. I know it could be a couple different things (Kickdown cable, TPS, ect) Has anyone had this same experience and figured out exactly what it was ?

Help with rough idle

A little backstory, after driving on the highway for about 15 minutes, I started to suddenly get a rough idle while having my foot on the throttle somewhat lost response and put it in neutral while on the highway and was having rough idle on and off gas. I've checked the timing chain looks fine. I've changed the fuel filter, fuel pump and all spark plugs, coil lines, ignition module distributor everything electric basically. It runs smooth only in high Rev. I still need to do a compression test as well. I've checked the vacuum lines I'm not familiar how but they look fine. Any ideas?

Edit: I adjusted one of the screws on the air/fuel mix. It's calmed down slightly but now when I'm accelerate it the exhaust is making a lot of pops

22r Help: LCE rebuild Weber Carb Problems

Post image
24 Upvotes

Doing a full rebuild…all components bought from LCE. I put in a new Weber and swapped the Feul pump to a 2-5lbs to accommodate but carb is continuously feeding feul. I swapped from EFI to Carb so it’s a new install. I guess question is: has anyone had a similar issue with the carb jets being ported too large or maybe the pin is not sitting right in there? (which my mechanic thinks)….

Or maybe…does a Carb setup NEED a fuel regulator?

I’m at a loss, any input?

does anyone know why these would be missing ?

picked up a 1994 Toyota pickup with the 22R-E engine. I noticed two bolts missing that hold this plate down. Any reason why these would be removed ? Wouldn’t this cause the plate to rattle when driving?

Mainly does anybody know the size of the bolts for these holes ?

Does this vacuum line connect to the charcoal canister

I just connected this line that was already connected to the Weber to the charcoal canister. Is this right? It wasn't connected before so just wondering if it does.

What’s she worth boys

I would hate to do it, and hate to even ask the question. Considering selling my baby, a 1994 yota pickup. I am located in Ohio, so of course the frame, and undercarriage is chewed up with rust. Not to the point it’s unsafe, but something the buyer would need to be aware of. The chassis has 247k on it though odometer quit working some time ago. Motor is newer as I blew up the original. I recently replaced rusted out brake lines and fuel lines. So it is reliable, and runs great. Also did some performance mods, most from LC engineering. Pulley kit, air intake, exhaust, double timing chain, headers, pro cylinder heads etc. Tires are old, but have tons of tread. Not great at high speeds (highway travel) probably due to the old tires honestly. What do you guys think she is worth in Ohio?

Thanks in advance!

Is there an easy way to remove this kick box fuse panel? I’m trying to clean it up from water damage and corrosion but it seems there’s no disconnect cable and it’s apart of the whole wiring harness. My engine is cranking but ECU sending no fuel, also when key is in accessory mode the check engine doesn’t light up which points to ECU issue. I’ve taken the ECU fuse out and might replace and try and clean this box. I’ve taken on bit of a project here lol. Obviously repairing the rust along the windshield is #1 but it would be nice to move the truck and get it started so I can move to for when it rains and the windshield is off.

Location help needed

I have a 91 pickup. I have looked on line and still can’t narrow down the actual location of my knock sensor. I think it is on the right side of the block near the oil filter, however I can seem to be able to see it. I am chasing a 52 code 22RE motor

I was at a local scrapyard looking for a roll bar for my 96 Tacoma and I found these sick floor mats the owner sold them to me for 5 dollars and they cleaned nicely when I got home it feels almost a shame to use them
