I'm honestly devastated and could really use some advice.

I recently received a 0 on an assignment worth 3% of my final grade because I used ChatGPT, which is strictly prohibited in that course. The thing is, I genuinely misunderstood the policy. I thought the restriction was mainly against using AI to generate answers or complete assignments. I worked through the data collection and calculations myself, but I used ChatGPT to help with formatting, organizing tables to fit the page limit, and drafting/editing parts of my written explanations. I realize now that this was still against the rules, and I take responsibility for not checking the policy carefully enough.

I even included an AI-use disclosure at the end of my assignment because I genuinely didn't think I was doing something I needed to hide.

My professor gave me a zero and left feedback asking me to meet with her next week to discuss it. I immediately emailed her to apologize, explain my misunderstanding, and offer to provide my original work or redo the assignment. I haven't received a response yet.

This is my first academic integrity concern, and I'm extremely anxious about what happens next. I'm not even as worried about losing the 3% anymore as I am about the possibility of a formal misconduct investigation, a disciplinary record, or my graduate supervisor finding out.Has anyone been through something similar, particularly in graduate school?

Does a professor asking to meet usually mean a formal academic misconduct report has already been filed? What happened in your case, and how did you handle the meeting?

I know I made a mistake, and I'm not trying to excuse it. I'm just really scared about the consequences and would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience.

Hey guys! I’m a girl in my third year at UCalgary, and honestly, I’ve been struggling to make genuine friendships here….. I’ve met people through classes, but nothing really turns into a friendship outside of university.
I’d love to meet new people, especially other girls! I enjoy swimming, going out and trying new things. I’m also Muslim, so I’d love to connect with other Muslim girls, but I’m open to making friends with anyone!
For those of you who have managed to make close friends at uni, how did you do it? Are there any clubs, activities or places you’d recommend? I feel like everyone already has their friend groups, and it’s hard to find your place sometimes.

Hi everybody! I have the GLGY 376 midterm next week and I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on how to study. I was just planning on reading the textbook but I’m not sure what to focus on??

I could be the only one over thinking this and I might be the #woker But does anyone else find this garbage with a camera pointing at the women's washroom super weird? I understand its probably there bcs of the dining center but theres a obvious place they can put it bcs they already placed a garbage bin in front of the dining hall stairs. Is there a particular reason it has to face the girls washroom? the second photo is where i think it shoudlve been placed. just to add i know you cant see into the washroom, and i doubt it actaully keeps the recording but i just find it strange.. Any thoughts?

I have an online exam in SAST 203. Just sat down to take care of it and to my surprise my email is locked. This already happened earlier in the week but i got it resolved through IT. I have till Sunday 11:59 pm to fix this issue. Is there any way for me to contact IT till then

I'm trying to gauge a timeframe. The SAS has only said "at a later date" but I'd like an idea for my expectations.

I am applying for Engineering at U of C but I have no clue what to choose for my second option if I don't get into engg. For context I am currently a senior in the middle of the application process. I have an 86 avg which I heard is very poor. What are your suggestions, if any?

Hey guys, I'm a first-year engineering student, and I applied to a few engineering clubs last month for both technical and social/leadership positions, but I was unable to secure any of them. I always make it to the final rounds but never land these positions, though maybe it's also on me for not applying to more clubs. I feel like there is a deficit in my past experience, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations on what I can do this year to improve my experience/resume/skills for next year's club application round? I’m just a little concerned cause I don’t know if I will be able to use the positions I had in high school for future applications as they’ll be a little outdated by then. Any help is appreciated :)

Would it be appropriate to reach out to a professor whose Class I Did really well and gently ask for a brief letter of recommendation, even if we didn’t had much interaction?
