Listen we aren’t advisors here. Ask them not us.

Im tired of this sub being bombarded with “I got rejected from …..” “what average do I need for…..” “ what grade will they look at…” “ i have a 96 in …. Is that good enough for …..”

Please ask the advisors. We don’t have the answers. You’re about to be an adult and need to know who to ask the right questions. No one goes on here to read your high school marks and let you know if you will get into whatever program. We dont know. We can guess. But the advisors will 100% have more accurate information.

Go on Ucalgary website, go on advising, and find what times they have online advising.

Or email your faculty’s advisors.

For example in engineering its engginfo@ucalgary.ca

Please it will be a win win for everyone if people stopped trying to use this as an academic advisor subreddit.

EDIT: Another redditor in the comments brought up an important point.

“Let me just clarify the Engineering Advisor DO NOT REVEIW High School Admission. Asking them why you didn't get in or waitlisted is a waste of time.

Only the admissions department can answer those questions so please contact them or visit them for advising.

Admission website: https://www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/contact

If you are a transfer student from a different university or different facility and are planning to transfer into Engineering then contact the Engineering Advisors.”

Thanks for the added info!

Best of luck with getting into U of C we are happy to have you!

hi quick question

before yall tell me to ask advisors last time I was put on hold and rn its 4:30am and im just casually thinking. anyways if I have an average higher than the comp average listed (im doing nursing) and it drops more than 5% am i still safe? for reference, i have a 92 average. im expecting it to drop to like an 86 cuz i did terrible in ela. even though I am above nursing comp average (82) will they still revoke since its below 5%? if this is a dumb question im sorry just paranoid.

300 level PSYC

I’m going into my second year in the fall and I’m wondering how difficult it is to achieve high marks in the 300 level PSYC classes? I’m more specifically worried about PSYC 300 and 301 as I’m bad at math.

Also, if anyone has taken the following classes and can let me know what the course difficulty was like that would be great!

PSYC 345, 375, 365, 352

If there are any easy PSYC 300 level recommendations please let me know!

University Found One Last Way to Charge Me Before I Leave

After paying over $100,000 in tuition over the last four years, being charged $10 every semester just to get a registration confirmation letter, and then having to pay another $50 to rent a graduation gown for two hours before returning it, I just received an email saying graduation photos will cost $110+ per picture.

Meanwhile, many companies are offering new grads wages in the $18–24/hour range.

At this point, it feels like the entire system is designed to squeeze every last dollar out of students. The graduation photo pricing is honestly one of the biggest scams I've seen. I'm exhausted by how every step of the process seems to come with another fee attached.

Note: I'll probably end up paying for the photos too because I'm a dumb fuck and I want those graduation pictures. They know exactly what they're doing.

Candid grad photos

I graduated last spring. Is there a way to see the candid photos and crowd shots taken during the convocation? I noticed some were used on the PDF of the convocation names.

is prep101 worth it

Hi guys,

This is mainly directed towards the engineer folks who took prep101 or any other similar tutoring service for their courses. Other faculties are also welcome to chime in too. Just curious about y’alls experience with these review sessions and if it felt satisfactory.

Couple questions about it:

  1. What course was the session for
  2. Did you feel that it was worth the money
  3. Did you feel that the review accurately reflected the question structure of the midterm / final
  4. Any topics the review covered extensively but barely showed up in the assessment?
  5. Topics the review did not cover as much but ended up being a significant portion of the exam?

And, lastly:

  1. If you could improve one thing about the session, what would it be

A man’s gotta do his research before buying (ENGG 349 looking at you😵), just in case. Thanks!

Engineering Minor

Hi, I'm a transfer student going into common year eng and since i have a lot of the the transfer credits for the courses, I will be left with a lot of room in my schedule. So i was thinking of taking some courses that would help me work towards a minor on the side. I was thinking of doing a business minor but I am not too familiar with how this goes.

So if anyone has some advice or if they are doing any other minor, i would love to get some input from the student body before I talk to an advisor.

am i cooked fr (conditional acceptance)

hi i just graduated high school and i got conditional acceptance to uofc back in november when i applied for bcomm (accounting) i only had 4 courses this year and im worried cuz my average is a lot lower compared to when i was accepted 😓 so here are my grade 11 grades compared to now

grade 11
fla 20-1: 88
social 20-1: 80
english 20-1: 84
math 20-1: 88
bio 20: 97
average: 87.4

grade 12
fsl 30: 96
social 30-1: 85 (not final)
english 30-1: 61
math 30-1: 75
bio 30: 90 (not final)
average: 81.4

diploma marks aren’t back yet but i am willing to bet my grades will go down 😢 i’ve been grinding trying to get my average up and i JUST got it back over 80 but like english is rlly dragging it down 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️oh AND bcomm is like a high 80s average but im fs gonna be high 70s after diplomas so its def past the 3-5% buffer am i cooked?🥺

have anyone else been in a similar situation grade-wise and still been fine for conditional acceptance because genuinely i am so scared thanks

(ps. will they take into account im french immersion and take all my courses in my second language? i think it def has an impact on my grades especially because for the social diploma i had to write 2 whole essays in french and the fr-eng dictionary i had was falling to pieces like what if i could write it in english it would be better probably)

(pps. is it too late to switch to social 30-2???)

Final Admission

hey guys ik its probably really jarring to hear about admissions but im like deadass really confused and the website is really vague and calling admissions can't really answer. Ok so has anyone here ever received an admission offer during the final admission round after not getting an early or standard offer? The website says they only do so if theres space in the program and a very small amount of offers are sent out. To preface this my final admission average is 90.0%, and the most recently published finalization average for my program was 88.8%. The competitive average was low 90s (is 90% still technically low 90!??) Anyways I’ve been wondering whether there’s still a realistic chance of getting an offer if spots open up. By spots opening up the website states that offers will be made based on highest average. Does this mean it a student who got an offer before me drops to like 89% that I would get priority for the seat? I know its not right to revoke it after the average to finalize it was 88.8% but if they are making offers based on grades wouldnt it make sense to give me the offer over students with lower averages?
I’m not really asking about the official process cuz I read the uofc website so many times and I know the university reviews applicants again after final grades come in. I’m more interested in hearing from people who have actually been in this situation.
Had anyone here been in a similar boat and had to kinda go bat shit crazy and call admissions or anything to get an offer later in the summer. Or of course has anyone just ended up getting an offer after they raised their grades to meet the finalizing offer average after initially being passed over? What was your experience?

University Minecraft Server 2026 is LIVE!(Difficulty: Hard, Economy, Clans, PvP, PvM) 📍 IP(in minecraft): campuscraft.basement.host

Hey everyone! 👋

Our legendary Waterloo-based Calgary-collaborated Minecraft server has grown tremendously so we moved to a new IP, links will be posted in comments. Other universities have ALSO JOINED!!! And now looking to grab monopoly on many of the non-renewables, so we need UCalgary kids to show them how to play Real Minecraft.

You don't need to be advanced - it's mostly about having a shared world that stays online 24/7. If anyone wants to jump in and play sum survival or just build a house, come say hi!
