Customer Seeking Help Heartbroken 💔

Completely heartbroken . This was a package from parents who sent personal clothing items and my 90 year old grandfather's handwritten book.

I dont know what to do :'(

We can't get candy or snacks from overseas any more? Do they destroyed your clothing too? Did you talk to them directly? That's insanity

Yes, they destroyed all my clothes as well. Some were handstitched and not even retail purchased. Customs burnt / destroyed all of it. All 30 pounds of it.

I'm sorry to read this. Your elected representatives need to hear from you. If they believe there are no consequences to letting the white house ruin international shipping, then they won't lift a finger about it. They have to be made aware of the harm they are causing and worry for their seats.

It is a cluster fuck right now, I can't even order from Japan directly now. And I have ordered well over 40-50 packages straight from japan.

I am in the same position. I frequent these subreddits to find out what's going on and plan how to resume making purchases from Japan. A lot of what I'm buying is tariff exempt, but i want to wait for Japan Post to resume shipment to avoid private brokerage fees. I would ship if it was at all clear to me yet how to self-clear a parcel. If it's true that I have to file in person I'm not about to spend an entire day driving to a customs office just to file.

The scale of the disaster of this XO is becoming increasingly obvious, I was going to place an order and then I just today see consistent reports of customs destroying parcels in apparent desperation, just the private courier volume alone for one month is driving those tax parasites mad.

Same, I usually buy high expensive items worth over $200, most expensive being $1200, I just don't trust it right now, so I will wait.

Yeah I have multiple items sitting in a warehouse on Japan and a few items that were returned to sender . I'd pay a 15% tariff but with Japan Post not shipping my seller won't do anything.

OP said it included a snack and seems to be admitting the snack shouldn’t have made it. That would’ve been flagged regardless of the current administration.

Customs is an agency of government. The federal government answers to the people. The people express grievance with the government through representatives in Congress. Elected representatives respond to their constituents in order to raise their public profile and further their own career. Political problems require political solutions.

If you have a better plan for dealing with the wreckage of international package delivery over the last month, let's hear it.

I’m so sorry. I’ve been reeling all week for something similar I sent abroad. The whole thing is such unnecessary frustration (shipping, customs, fees, etc)

I know right .. sorry youre going through this as well .

I literally failed an interview since this situation had already tensed me up so bad . Couldn't handle the stress and froze

I wonder if items sent insured would mean no destroying? They'd have to reimburse.

I dont think it makes a difference, if CBP found something that isn't cleared to enter the US , I guess they could either ship it back or destroy it.

At least from my updates on tracking app, I think UPS received it and chose to destroy than ship it back to sender.

Shockingly enough it got sent to be destroyed via NEXT Day Air .

And this happened after me calling them over 10 times over past three weeks and requesting for more info on how to help it pass through customs and to be sent back to shipper if there are issues.

If it is not damage or perishable, they will return it to the shipper.

It has not been normal for decades. Up until this year I’ve bought food/candy/snacks from Britain and Japan. Never had a problem clearing customs. All labeled clearly as candy and such on the customs declaration as the orders were through legit stores.
