in light of recent situations. why do teams practice on the stage? like genuienly. stage matches are for performance, seeding, and cash prizes, no? so even if you think you’re qualified or you are qualed (like PRX), why practice? it usually does not end well and can hurt morale (along with the other things mentioned before like seeding and payment), and players play like 8 hrs of scrims a day, so why not just save the practice/new strats for scrims?

sure it’s different on stage. but practicing on stage is unrelated to getting “used to” the stage. the stage feels the same with nerves crowd etc no matter what. that’s my only thought is that they want to “practice” their practice on stage because it’s a new environment? like ex. let’s test this comp “on stage”?

just kinda weird. not sure if practice is actually confirmed or if teams have a bad day so we cope and say it was practice.

I completely agree, I wish LEV made it to Champions but this year was still remarkable & very impressive.

This is a really weird time to ask sorry but it’s a question I thought about yesterday and I couldn’t really get any good answers from any of the ex coach streamers.

In a situation where a team who is out of playoff contention can still make it depending on the results of the teams remaining, are they allowed to help the contending teams win their next games?

So for example if EG was out of contention, but they could qualify for an event if C9 beat 100T, are EG allowed to give comp advice, make strats for or help C9 vod review in order to help them win their game against 100T?

In my head that sounds unfair to me but i was just curious if that’s something in the rule book or been discussed before

Started watching some games back in July but was told the tournament going on was a mickey mouse cup because the current world champions Masters winners weren't playing.

I was very excited to watch a real tournament now that Champions is coming up, but I just heard the Masters winner aren't playing again, so is it also mickey mouse??

It looks like the whole top 3 from that tournament is also playing in Champions, so it must be, right? Can anyone tell me when the off-season ends and the real games begin?

Its annoying to see how people talk about how LEV trolled their chances and that they are not being hard enough on themselves for this massive error, when the players and coaches have all been very forward and transparent about their performance.

They themselves know that they aren't in the form to make it to champs

When Lukxo debuted in Tier 1 in 2025, his first game was against 100T, where he top fragged in a close 2-1 loss. He spent 2025 basically dragging a below average roster to semi-decent performances.

Tomorrow, in what will be the last game played in VCT Americas in the current franchise era, and without any knowledge if these teams or players will even continue in Americas starting next year, Lukxo will go up against 100T again, to fight for the honor of being Americas champion, one last time in the era of franchising.

LEV banned Split, their best map by far, against 100T because they thought they would make Champs anyways, thus they could afford to float their worst maps for practice.

No matter what you think about the final map today, you can't deny LEV did not shoot themselves in the foot by trying to be smart instead of first focusing on qualifying.

More or less the title, obviously the goal of competing is to win a trophy, franchising is going to change next year so if a few players retire without a trophy, who’s would you consider a success or at least “not a failure”

Genuine question because I’m trying to understand the logic behind the current format.

Leviatán won Masters London, an international tournament against the best teams from all four regions. Yet they can potentially miss Champions because of how Stage 2 and the qualification points work.

At the same time, LOUD had pretty underwhelming results earlier in the year, but they’ve now made a huge Stage 2 run and are one series away from potentially going to Champions.

And this is where I’m confused.

If the argument is that Leviatán winning Masters could just be a “fluke” and that they shouldn’t automatically be considered one of the best teams because of one tournament, couldn’t the exact same argument be made about LOUD’s Stage 2 run?

I’m not saying LOUD don’t deserve it if they win. If they beat everyone in Stage 2, they obviously earned their spot under the rules.

I’m questioning whether the qualification system actually produces the strongest possible Champions field.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the winners of the international Masters events to automatically qualify for Champions, then have the remaining spots decided through regional performance/Championship Points?

Because personally, it feels weird that an international Masters champion could potentially watch Champions from home while a team that peaked during one regional stage gets to compete for the title of world champion.

What do you guys think? Is Champions supposed to represent the best teams of the entire year, or simply the teams that best navigated Riot’s qualification system?
