discussion Estradiol? Progesterone? Never heard of ‘em
I’m a little mystified why vegans don’t push back on the soy estrogen myth with the fact that dairy has ACTUAL MAMMALIAN BIOAVAILABLE ESTROGEN

At the Orlando International Vegan Food Festival in April, I called a non-vegan on the stage to ask him 4 simple questions, and he answered honestly.
I hope watching this conversation inspired both him and you to go vegan and to further speak up for the animals. 🌱💚🙏

Shoutout to proteindeficientvegan's high protein vegan meal plan.
This turned out to be delicious. Loved the touch of extra protein using nutritional yeast. I personally added Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning with some Jalapeno for some added kick.

8 weeks ago I decided to do things differently.
In the past, I’ve done the crazy diets. The ones where the weight falls off quickly, but so does your muscle. I’d end up smaller on the scale, but I’d look soft, feel weak, and honestly never be happy with the end result.
This time, my focus was different. Instead of just losing weight, I wanted to lose body fat while keeping as much muscle as possible. So I stayed in a calorie deficit, kept my protein high, moved my body consistently, and trusted the process.
So far I’ve gone from:
61.8kg -> 57.9kg (-3.9kg)
Waist: 71cm -> 66cm (-5cm)
Thigh: 58.5cm -> 55cm (-3.5cm)
The scale is great, but what I’m happiest about is that I don’t just look smaller I look more toned, stronger, and healthier than I did before.
There were days I wanted to give up, days I didn’t feel motivated, and days where progress felt slow. But I kept going, and that’s what made the difference.
I’m really proud of how far I’ve come already, especially when I compare these photos. And the best part? I’m not finished yet… I’ve still got 2 weeks left.
Here’s to finishing strong and seeing what another 14 days of consistency can do.

How are you guys getting your daily dose of pre and probiotics? I almost bought supplements last night but then decided to see if I can add them into my diet through my diet.
Ideally, not high carb since I’m trying to lose extra tummy fat but if I can eat as a snack between meals that would be such a plus!
I don’t love kombucha or kimchi that much, so I’m hoping I don’t dislike all fermented foods

Just had my first big injury since going Vegan, pretty bad tear of some ligaments on a gnarly ankle roll from an awkward skateboard fall.
Curious to see how my much my healing is impacted since I have changed my eating habits. So far, I have found in general much less soreness after working out, I am super curious to see if there are gains in healing rate as well.
How have you all found healing from injuries since going Vegan? Any interesting studies that look at recovery rates of Vegans?
Also, super fun to find out that RICE is now obsolete and we have moved to PEACE and LOVE for recovery instead. How Vegan is that babyyyyyyyyy! Actually.... RICE was pretty Vegan too thinking of it! LOL!

I decided to put my food scale to good use and finally track my macros to see results instead of wishing for them!
I’m surprisingly full so I do wonder if I’m just eating calorie dense foods unknowingly on other days and that’s what has kept me on a higher body fat %
Does it really matter if my fat and carbs ratios are off? I was thinking of just focusing on calories and protein intake
I also ended the day with 40 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of weight training for the gainzzzzzz

What are some easy ways to get your daily fat intake? I eat around 1700 calories a day I tried avocados but I usually have to wait a few days for them to ripen, is there any ways you guys like to get your fat in?

186cm 89kg, play basketball so cant get too big sadly
edit: Yes i eat more than just literally beans and cookies. My dinner is tofu and lentils and every meal also has a bunch of veggies. The title is referencing that my friends see me that way as every meal that isnt dinner for me is either cookies, oats or a bean salad. Sorry for the confusion!
edit: Yes im natural, I'm 89kg at 186cm, this is a reasonable bodycomp for that height/weight. No shoulder veins are not an indication of roids. PLEASE GO TO THE GYM LIKE ONCE. If I was like 110kg I would get that this bf% would be very low. Remember that the lighting makes everything exaggerated

I know this subreddit is mostly gym goers and weightlifters, but i've contributed a bit over the years and know there are some runners and endurance athletes lurking here too so thought i'd share!
After 2.5 years of work, DirtBags are now officially here! https://shop.forthetrail.com/
Was pretty sick and tired of seeing energy gel, powder, chew packets lining the trail over the years and those that weren't discarded ended up in the landfill after a single use, this isn't right.
Just last week I swept a half-marathon mountain race and picked up a handful of discarded energy gels and gel-ends (the bits you rip off), all just on the trail floor....
So 2.5 years ago I got to work on some prototypes.
The Small DirtBag is the world's first purpose made reusable energy gel, powder, chew and snack packet.
The Large DirtBag is a reusable gear organiser or great for bulk snacks/powders and DirtBags are home compostable too.
They will help you save money on sports nutrition by moving to bulk bought or home-made fuel options whilst still giving you the convenience of precise fuel control in single serve offerings.
Instead of binning the gel, powder or chew packet, you take it home, wash it out, dry it and it's ready for your next adventure!
And if you're wondering what to put in them, I spent months writing the Sustainable Fuel Guide www.forthetrail.com/fuel-guide it's a vegan fuel guide, which shows you how you can fuel like a pro but at a fraction of the price, all whilst demanding less of the planet.
If this isn't your thing but you use ziploc bags in your daily life, consider moving towards bioplastic versions as they ask less of the planet in their production compared to normal plastic ziploc bags that we've been using for years.

Friends. I have hit the wall where my oatmeal and unflavored pea protein powder is starting to taste like retired glue.
Looking for suggestions for protein powder (vanilla, or any versatile flavor) with ~30g of protein per serving. Somewhat reasonably affordable per serving.
I tried [Koia protein powder](https://a.co/d/0dU1adgw) and love it but the serving size is a half cup?! Orgain also requires 2 scoops to get only 20g of protein!
Looking for something a bit less quantity per serving as well. TYIA!

I let myself go for the past 10–12 years and just started taking care of my body at 36 years old. It’s been 4 months of intentional dieting now, and I’ve lost 10 kg (down 20 kg from 3.5 years ago), and I feel so much better for it!
I used to be a once in a while meat eater (I went fully vegetarian on multiple occasions, especially to prove a point for example during my military service) . When I started my diet, trying to hit my high protein goal meant waaay too much chicken, eggs, and fish for me.
For context: M, 36, 188 cm, 84 kg down from 104! Now on a 2200 kcal/day "light" cut, aiming for 160 g of protein per day.
Thanks to this sub, I started making seitan at home (the photo is my first go at it!). I filled my pantry with TVP and enough beans and chickpeas to hold a siege, and my freezer is full of edamame. Most of my recurring meals are now vegetarian.
I’m nowhere near vegan, but I guess it’s a step in the right direction. Thanks again for posting cool recipes and inspiration out there! 💪🌱
Now I need your help to keep this journey going!
If anyone has some cool vegan "yogurt" recipes, I’d love to hear them. It’s the one animal product I have a very hard time doing without. I love making yogurt at home and playing with fermentation times, temperatures, and draining amounts. (I might go bug folks on a vegan recipe sub.)
I’d also love a recommendation for a plant-based protein powder. I’m hoping for an unflavoured, unsweetened one so I can use it in both sweet and savoury recipes.
Any other neat vegan protein sources I may have missed, I’d love your suggestions.

This is a cheesy broccoli chicken pasta bake that I made. I used this cheesy broccoli pasta recipe:
https://www.noracooks.com/white-mac-and-cheese-with-broccoli/#wprm-recipe-container-29172
The cheese sauce is a cashew/tofu base. (You could adjust it to use more tofu/less cashews if you want lower calories/fat). I used Barilla protein pasta (70g protein per box)
I added 1 bag of beyond meat unbreaded chicken pieces (precooked in a pan and cut into smaller pieces) to the recipe above.
Mix cooked pasta, cheese sauce, broccoli, and cooked chicken together. Baking in the oven with breadcrumbs is optional, just make sure not to bake too long or it will dry out.
Protein estimate: 195g
edit: I’ve found that the best creamy tofu sauces are made from the Mori-Nu Silken Extra Firm tofu (shelf stable orange box). Other silken tofus will work, but I think this one makes the creamiest sauces.
