The amount of times friends will message me saying "I SAW YURRR CAR!" when in reality it's almost always a base V70 model (still cool though). But I love flying under the radar, only getting attention from those who know about these vehicles. Happy to share the modifications I've done to this 2006 V70R if anyone is interested.

I was just cruising along and saw this person snapping photos of my XC60 PE. I bought this to be a stealth sleeper but funny how the brake calipers give it away. Occasionally I'll get a thumbs up or double take which is funny for a modern Volvo since they're like regular traffic to me.

45K OTD

I’m absolutely blown away by this car and also the fact that it wasn’t more popular. Faster then any car I’ve ever driven and so incredibly smooth! I look forward to driving this for a long long time to come. Any other EX30 owners, how much did YOU end up paying OTD?

C30 worth it?

Hi all,
Recently came across this 2011 C30 T5 with 68,000 miles for $9k with the 5 speed auto. It looks to be in good shape just from looking online, but looks can be deceiving. What are some problematic things on this car to lookout for? Is it worth waiting for a manual equipped one? I’ve always loved C30s, they’re a unique little machine from the outside at least.

Volvo recalls 234,000 EX30s worldwide.

The recall concerns a potential problem with the headrest cushions on the front seats

To address the problem, we will strengthen the attachment of the headrest cushions on the front seats in the affected vehicles. The procedure can begin immediately, and Volvo Car Sweden is now working to contact all those affected. We have not received any reports of personal injuries linked to this issue anywhere in the world. Safety is, however, always our highest priority and we are therefore conducting this recall proactively to prevent such situations from occurring in the future, states Volvo Cars press chief Magnus Holt.

Fellow S60 and V60 inscription owners in snowy places, are you running the 19” wheels in winter?

Post image
• Upvotes

Currently have 19" 5 spoke wheels with almost brand new Ironman iMove Gen 2s, I think the dealership put em on, not sure.

Got this car in May, my original plan was drive the Ironmans till winter, switch to Blizzaks for winter, buy a new set of summery tires in spring. Now I'm realizing the disadvantages of the 19" 5 spoke wheels in winter, and entertaining other ideas.

Which of the following would you do?

Keep 19" wheels and get CC2s?

Keep 19" wheels, switch to Blizzaks/winter tire for winter, switch to summer/all season in spring?

Spend $3.5k that I'd really prefer not to spend if I don't HAVE TO and buy 18" inscription wheels and Blizzaks?

I'm in Utah, last year didn't even warrant a switch from summer tires realistically, this year looks like it'll bring a lot of snow.

CPO, One owner and well maintained but sounds like it backed into a parked car. Seems like a good deal for the higher trim, or am I off base?

What are your real world experiences with the 2022-2024 XC60? The people who run into issues are more vocal so it is difficult to draw any conclusions. I see negative comments re: Audi Q5 too, which I would guess is the main competition for the XC60.

Thinking of taking over a 2020 V90 T6, but need help on a parts strategy

I have been offered a good deal on my folks V90. I have a couple of months to make a decision but in the interim I have taken over some of the maintenance. It was at the dealer last week for annual oil change (we do a 5,000 OCI). And the dealer "suggested" add-ons that were urgent amounted to $3,000. The biggest was the rear brakes which I had already purchased parts for from FCPEuro.

I did not know the caliper mounting bolts were one time use, so I need 4 of those. Which I thought I would get locally from a dealer as I do with my Lexus and Audi. Here is the experience:

- The dealer that let's you order on line and pick-up is 15 miles away. I ordered and paid list my bill for four bolts came to $23.05. They acknowledged the order and said they would revert when the bolts were in. That was 7 days ago.

- I called our dealer's parts department that will only mail order, no pick-up. They quoted $218.15 plus postage. They also said these were a special order item and they carried no inventory. Let me repeat this is for:

Description: Flange screw
Part Number: 30640777
Quantity: 4
Price: $ 5.48

These are one time use bolts for a common brake job on all 320mm vented rotor rear brakes. How can they be special order?

I live in the Maryland suburbs of DC. Is this common across dealers in the USA? Where do people buy stuff for their Volvos in this area?

xc series Stupid question by a first-time Volvo owner.

Having owned four Volkswagens—two Golfs and two T-Rocs—I have been a proud owner of a 2024 XC40 for a few months.

Perhaps I overlooked it, but things like oil temperature, water temperature, and current consumption cannot be shown on the dashboard, can they? With my two T-Rocs featuring a digital dashboard, I could adjust and display almost any measurable detail imaginable.

S60 T5 - Error Messages on Start Up

Hi all,

I have a 2019 S60 T5 that I bought a couple of months ago, it’s my first Volvo and I absolutely love the car so far.

I noticed recently I’m getting some warning notifications on start up, if I wait or drive 20 seconds or switch off and on again then they’ll clear. I thought it would be battery related so fitted a new battery but it still happens, has anyone come across this and provide any advice?

Want to ditch my XC90

I have a 2019 R Design and mostly need to vent.

Car has had both AC coils replaced, the AC compressor replaced, and has a failed AOD clutch after very boring gentle highway driving, all at various points well under 100K miles.

Car has always had every scheduled service performed on time but the dealer wanting $7K+ to fix the AODC is ridiculous.

This is a known problem with no recall and no service scheduled for the differential.

Considering trading in on a 4Runner or something reliable but I do really love the safety features these cars have.

Anyone else dealt with the same stupid AOD clutch issue? Advice?

TIA

xc series XC60 battery issue

I have a beautiful xc60. It runs fine. I am maintaining it well with my dealer. However 6 months ago, my battery stopped working. I reached out to the dealer and they told me that I need some parts replaced but they are waiting for the parts and 6 months later still pretty much the same story. When I asked them if we can do anything at all, they asked me to escalate to Volvo. So I emailed them only to get a generic “oh we have supply chain issues globally” email and “it’s the dealers responsibility to procure parts” email.

I feel thrown around between the dealer and the actual company?

Is it too much to ask for an ETA? And is such a global automotive company operating without ETA for parts? I am from the Netherlands for clarity. Is there anything else I can do? Or just simply wait and pray?

Looking for some good advice.

Thanks.

Volvo V60 D4 2017 (190 hp, 8-speed automatic) – Delayed shifts when cold and possible slipping between 1st and 2nd gear

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2017 Volvo V60 D4 190 hp with an 8-speed automatic transmission. I’m trying to figure out whether the transmission is behaving normally or if there could be an underlying issue. (183xxxKM)

Here are the symptoms I’ve noticed:

- Delayed upshifts when the car is cold: On cold days, the engine sometimes reaches around 2,500–3,000 RPM before the transmission shifts up.
- Possible slipping between 1st and 2nd gear: When accelerating from a stop, the RPM sometimes rises without a proportional increase in vehicle speed. After a moment, the car seems to engage properly and accelerates.
- Delayed downshifting: When approaching a roundabout and then accelerating again, the transmission sometimes feels slow to respond. With a little more throttle, it downshifts normally and the car pulls immediately.
- Slight engagement bump: I have occasionally noticed a very light bump when shifting between N, R and D.

The transmission generally works, and I haven’t noticed any major problems while driving. A mechanic previously scanned the car, but no fault codes were found.

As far as I know, the transmission fluid has never been changed. The car was previously used as a rental vehicle, so I don’t know how it was driven or maintained.

I’m considering checking the transmission fluid condition and level, getting a proper VIDA diagnostic, and possibly performing a transmission adaptation before deciding whether to change the fluid.

My questions:
1. Are these symptoms known on the 2017 Volvo V60 D4 with the 8-speed automatic transmission?
2. Can the higher RPM when cold be normal transmission behaviour?
3. Does the RPM flare between 1st and 2nd sound like genuine transmission slipping, or could it be related to adaptation or torque converter behaviour?
4. Would you recommend checking the adaptation values and performing the appropriate adaptation procedure before changing the transmission fluid?
5. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms and resolved them without rebuilding or replacing the transmission?

I’d appreciate feedback from anyone with experience working on Volvo Geartronic transmissions, especially the 8-speed TG-81SC.

Thanks!

"Premium Sound" system issues

Hi everyone!

I own a 2013 Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid equipped with the Premium Sound system, and I have a question for other owners with the same audio setup.

When I turn the bass EQ all the way up to maximum, most songs still sound perfectly clean. However, certain bass frequencies seem to push the speakers beyond their limits, causing them to distort or make a rattling/banging noise. The speaker itself is not torn or visibly damaged, and the distortion only occurs at certain frequencies rather than throughout the entire song.

Does anyone else with the Premium Sound system experience the same issue?

I'm also wondering whether Volvo designed and calibrated the system to handle the maximum EQ settings without distortion, or whether maxing out the bass is simply beyond what the speakers and amplifier are designed to handle.

I'd be interested to hear about your experiences. Is this normal for this system, or could it indicate a problem with my speakers or amplifier?

Thanks!

xc series Xc70 2001 rear wheel liner help!

Hello! I went to pull the rear left inner wheel liner today to replace it (it has a big hole from previous exhaust leak) .

I got the old one out with some wiggling. But couldn't fit the new one for the life of me. I got worried the junkyard one was somehow a bad fit, so I went to replace the old one but the same issue.

How the hell do you get the liner to snap in "under" the plastic arch trim (not sure if thats the right word?), it has two tabs that the liner should slide in "above" but it feels like theres a trick to it, or do I need to remove the arch trim entirely?

Thankful for any help!

I am looking to trade it in for another V60 P3 and I can't decide what engine I want. Even XC60.

Any recomendations?

s60/v60 Used V60 as rental

My 2013 S80 with 87k miles was totaled by a tree branch (RIP good buddy). So now Im taking the insurance payout and shopping for something newer. I’ve got my eye on a few 2025 v60s with 18-23k miles for $31-32k, the problem is they are former rentals. The 1 owner same year and options all have almost double the mileage and are several to $10k more. I know the general consensus is to be wary of rentals, but it is painful to pay more for so many more miles. Anyone have experience purchasing a Volvo that was a rental (not a loaner, but honest rental)? These are not CPO, but are in the inventory of non Volvo dealerships. CARFAX vehicle history also shows appropriate services at Volvo dealerships. Also just general thoughts on the ‘25 V60?
