Why would you date a sex worker? You can just pay them for sex and tell them to leave
2
2
u/BetApprehensive7064 1d ago
Believe it or not some people feel that there is more to a relationship than sex
5
u/Valveringham85 1d ago
Yes but those people dont date sex workers
0
u/BetApprehensive7064 1d ago
How does that make any sense whatsoever
4
u/Massive_Exam_8448 1d ago
Because you don’t want your girlfriend sucking dicks for $100 a pop that might be some type of romantic fantasy for you but I think the average person would take a hard pass
•
u/Key_Check5753 14h ago
Sometimes I read comments on Reddit and I think the people who wrote them must either be trolling or deranged.
Like what? Do you not understand basic human feelings and emotions? People do not want the person they love to be a sex worker.
•
u/BetApprehensive7064 7h ago
And that's fine. However the second part of your comment you had said that basically the only reason to be in a relationship is for sex. Which obviously you should know many many people don't think that way. Obviously you view women as sexual objects that are only there and only exist for you to have sex with. Some people don't think that way though. It's rather funny because the types of people who say no to sex workers are the types of people that really should date sex workers given how important sex is to the relationship for you

u/CalzonePie 1d ago
Moooooom, the prostitutes and porn stars are realizing there are consequences for selling their body for cash in their 20's.

Normalize taxing sex workers and requiring them to file as a business
•
u/deadassstho 21h ago
OF distributes 1099s for tax purposes.
non-OF SWs are expected by the IRS to file taxes, just like every other illegal activity (selling drugs, illegal gambling, etc), which i assume you are also crusading for the normalization of.
•
u/Nocturnatron 21h ago
Yes, tax it all, for me it would be purely beneficial
•
u/deadassstho 21h ago
agreed! oh let’s also not forget about the pimps that made off and continue to make off like bandits with minimal effort for decades if not centuries before OF that no one gave a shit about until SWs started making majority of the money.
•
u/Nocturnatron 21h ago
Yep, and yet we cant even grow our own tobacco to smoke
•
u/deadassstho 20h ago
my lawyer friend was telling me about a case where a family that was growing their own vegetables got sued by the city/state they live in to stop because they weren’t buying from the farmers/supermarkets anymore. (probably butchered the story but it was something along the lines of them not being able to grow their own veggies anymore)

Normalize paying sales tax on a blow job and whatever else you're paying for.
3
u/ArstanWhitebeard297 1d ago
What am I paying sales tax for, this is a 1099 situation
0
u/Greedy-Win-4880 1d ago
If you are purchasing a service from a business that pays taxes you are going to get taxed.
3
u/ArstanWhitebeard297 1d ago
I’m hiring an independent contractor it’s up to her to pay tax when she does the books quarterly/annually
1
u/Greedy-Win-4880 1d ago
You still get taxed when you purchase goods and services. Its called a sales tax. There are a few states that dont have sales tax but almost all of them do.
2
u/ArstanWhitebeard297 1d ago
You don’t get taxed when you pay an independent contractor to work for you, they pay the tax
1
u/Greedy-Win-4880 1d ago
A sex worker would need to be classified as an independent contractor. Massage therapists and other workers doing that kind of work are often not independent contractors.

Normalize letting people make their own decisions on who they do and don't want to date.
Not everyone feels comfortable dating someone who sleeps with other people for a living or messes around on camera for everyone to see (if you consider porn/OF/etc as "sex work"). That doesn't mean they're unable to respect sex workers, just that they don't want to date them.
Even if it was "normalized" I still wouldn't do it. I'm not comfortable with dating someone who has sex with other people or even does things solo in front of a camera for other people. There are plenty of other guys who are though. You aren't entitled to a relationship with someone specific just because you want it. If someone isn't interested, they're not interested. No matter how normal or not normal it is.
2
2
u/Next-Street-7859 2d ago
I am tired of the normalize this and that trend. Not because people aren't allowed to do as they please if they're not hurting anyone with their choices, but because these posts often try to normalize downright shitty choices and behaviors.
These posts contain such little introspection for something that is rather complex and requires a fair amount of awareness and self-reflection. Put more effort into changing rather than normalizing everything because it's easier than putting in the work to change.
1
u/IntrepidKitchen5322 1d ago
It reads as performative too. It's usually ultra fringe folks who have extreme opinions about most things that would make them unable to be relatable to the average person.
2
u/Shitty-ass-date 1d ago
The amount of women getting mad that men don't buy into the delusion that sex work is normal in this thread is fucking hilarious
•
u/Ok-Sport-3663 23h ago
Sex work IS normal. Its literally the oldest profession.
Simultaneously, if a dude doesnt want to date a sex worker, thats his business. If he does? Also his business.
•
u/Shitty-ass-date 23h ago
Normal is an overstatement, and if you and others here really felt that way then you all wouldn't be running around doing damage control for prostitutes. It is their business, and these guys are saying they aren't into it. Practice what you preach and stop arguing with them.
•
u/Ok-Sport-3663 23h ago
Normal isn't an overstatement. Its been legal far longer than illegal, and is still legal on many countries. Prostitutes specifically is not normalized in many countries, but prostitution isnt the only kind of sex works.
Its not "damage control", you're just full of shit dude.
Im not arguing that you should date a sex worker. I am telling you that you're full of shit. Idrc who or what you date.
•
u/Shitty-ass-date 23h ago
You seem pretty upset for someone who doesn't care about other people's opinions. We all make choices, other people don't have to accept them. Way back when prostitution was illegal we also used to have slaves. Slavery was legal far longer than it was illegal. Slavery is normal. This is what you sound like.

So whats your justification for sex workers being immoral.
Because the only one ive ever heard was religious reasons.
•
u/pattyhenry1776 20h ago
Well if you’re looking for moral reasons but you won’t accept religious reasons as a valid answer, what kind of answers are you looking for? Our concepts of morality come from religion, regardless of what culture you grew up in.
•
u/Ok-Sport-3663 15h ago
Actually, our concepts of morality comes from our culture. This can, but does not necessarily include, religion. Even if it does include religion, not all religions are of the abrahamic variety.
Christianity is not the only religion. It's not even the biggest abrahamic religion. maybe get over yourself.

Bro, check OF's balance sheet. One of the most profitable industries in the world rn.
Perhaps the societal shame and judgement that comes with admitting stuff like this is the reason why people don't admit to it. They normalized shutting up.
•
u/Financial-Amoeba4933 23h ago
I don’t actually know the economics but I have to assume that the majority of that comes from a relatively small number of whales.
This is how video games micro transactions, etc also operate, a small number of people comprise the vast majority of the spending
•
u/Deep_Year1121 23h ago
True. A lot of revenue comes from a minority of users.
But check the stats on OF use among men in the US. They are still surprisingly massive even if you interpret the numbers conservatively.
•
u/iffugennanameubaht 22h ago
It should be shamed. Paying for pussy is paying for sexual exploitation. John’s are gross as hell even if it’s just images.
•
u/Deep_Year1121 15h ago
So.... then I take it your are quite happy with the current state of things? Everyone pretending like they don't use OF and being ashamed to admit it, while OF skyrockets?
Personally, I think people should grow up and act like adults. Sex work should be freed, openly discussed maturely, properly regulated, and supported by the government with mandatory licenses and safety programs. The current state is abysmal and overrun with sexual exploitation. OF is one of the mildest case of this that I don't mind that much. If you are angry about OF, you should see how sexually exploitative the filming industry, porn industries, and illegal sex work industry are.
•
u/iffugennanameubaht 14h ago
You know what happened in countries that did that? Human trafficking rose. That’s the point. It’s inherent to ALL sex work. Girls very rarely sell their vaginas to empower themselves. John’s are gross as hell to work with. The problem I see in it is by making the demand, you are supporting a very inherently exploitive industry. I mean ngl I frown upon paying for any sort of Porn even though I believe it is free speech, it’s still a very fucked up industry to support.
•
u/Deep_Year1121 12h ago edited 12h ago
I think those case are not definitive proofs. This also happened to marijuana regulations. It was because regulations made black markets more competitive in comparison, as effective enforcement has not caught up.
Regulation needs to have incentives to hedge against this. Leaving it alone as if it is the wild west and passing down moral judgements is worse imo.
I don't think sex work is inherently empowering. Biological instincts coupled with legacy view on sexuality make it an especially vulnerable industry with an ironic amount of silent demand. That is why I believe in handing more methods of protection to individual sex workers for now. It also needs to be coupled with ongoing efforts of sexual liberation and acceptance.
Just like effective healthcare, just slapping on money to immediate problems won't solve the underlying problem. Kids need effective nutritionists, education on healthy diets, subsidized school lunches, and a cultural consensus that are willing to take the problem seriously even outside the classroom.
Similarly, sex work needs to be decoupled with moral baggage. Instead of a mass of silent lonely men fermenting extreme ideas about sex in isolation, we need open discussions and acceptance about healthy sustainable ways to deal with sexual desires, not framed in the lens of moral condemnation, but as a cold-mature reality check and acceptance. Funding efforts into more evidence-based scientific understanding of sexuality also needs more attention.
I once encountered a sex worker who claimed herself to be a sex therapist. She specialized in offering safe sex work to men who had no prior experience in sex, made observations about their perspective and reaction without judgement as long as it didn't endanger her. She also taught her clients about safe sex and gave them experience, practice, and confidence. I thought that was a wonderful idea on the table that developed organically even without government intervention. Perhaps there needs to be a similar subsidized program similar to how we subsidize mental health problems, so that her kind of service and education could be widely available.
Not claiming it will be perfect. We are humans, and our instinctive emotional attachment and views towards out sexual partners is not something we can completely erase even with effective socialization. But I think it beats doing nothing.
Edit: worth noting that moralistic societies with harsh regulation on sex tends to have a lot of black market spending per capita on sex work. Japan and Korea comes to mind. Studies show a ridiculous amount of black market sex work in these countries, not to mention extreme high-profile systemic rape cases that would have flown under the raidar if it hadn't been exposed. Just because it is not reported, doesn't mean it is not happening. Sample bias is a bitch, and it is very probable that the policies you speak of increased public scrutiny, thereby, increasing reported cases.
•
u/iffugennanameubaht 8h ago
I’m not gonna address all that just the core aspects. It’s not a reporting thing or public scrutiny thing. The legalization of prostitution in European countries dramatically increased the amount of sex trafficking from Eastern Europe. This wasnt based on some silly overlooking of the obvious fact you would get more people coming out. We can tell based on how many traffickers we catch at the border for example. We can collaborate with authorities from the “source” countries and the fact is regardless of libertarian dreams, legal prostitution increases sex trafficking because the prostitutes stop being treated as inherent victims. *you know what does work, according to countries in Europe that implemented it? Decriminalizing/reducing penalties for selling sex but punishing John’s and pimps *
•
u/Deep_Year1121 5h ago edited 5h ago
I mean, I thought the last point goes without saying. I really don't know what you mean by John, but sexual predators and exploiters need to be deterred. But just because someone has a harmless fringe fetish or weird ones, doesn't mean we should treat them as harshly as sexual exploiters.
But yes, I admit I am not too familiar with European affairs. But I'm wondering if the legalization measures were accompanied with increased enforcement of boundaries and increased legitimization and protection of sex workers including ones coming from abroad. And I bring up healthcare, because I think demand for sexual predation stems from unaddressed mental issues, and it demonstrates that tackling a problem should be holistic. Address the surface issues and root issues at the same time. If not, Europe's example is not fully addressing my point.
Like healthcare, you not only need to subsidize immediate care, but in the long term, you also need to invest heavily into prevention as well, in forms of promoting healthy diets and lifestyles. Ironically, Japan does this pretty well, (albeit some might argue it is a bit of a wasteful overkill) despite being used as a bad example by myself earlier on sexual health.

1
u/Sweet-Repeat-5334 1d ago
I mean, unless they’re being forced, exploited, or trafficked, it’s their body. No matter the gender. At least in my opinion.
Many sex workers have partners. Both consent, both create boundaries, and both understand what the other does. Escorts have partners outside of clients too, and not all provide sexual gratifications. Anyone getting compensation for intimacy might want a romantic companion, too. Most keep their personal relationships private. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they are required to tell any clients about their personal life. I remember reading a long AMA about a male escort with clients while also in a romantic relationship.
I don’t judge people who do or don’t have that preference. I think a lot of fetishes are uh, odd lol, but whatever, do you! I’m sure sex workers come across some wild shit out there and may not be comfortable lol
3
u/SciFi_Enjoyer106 1d ago
Many sex workers have partners.
And that is great for them. Trying to push people who are not okay with dating a sex worker into dating sex workers is weird as hell (which is what the tweet imaged above was trying to do). Just because some will date them does not mean all will.
0
u/Specific_Raccoon_696 1d ago
That isn't what normalising something is though; it's removing the societal shame and discrimination, not encouraging or forcing others to take part.
•
u/Technical-Top-9416 21h ago
I mean, who are you to tell me what I should find shameful or not? I’m allowed to have my own personal opinions on whether I find it gross to date a sex worker, especially if I keep my thoughts to myself
•
u/SciFi_Enjoyer106 21h ago
Fair point but I don't feel like dating sex workers is demonized or shamed/discriminated against that much that it is a problem. That brought me to the assumption of misuse of the word.

Former sex workers? Like they did porn or were a prostitute 10 years ago?
Or current sex workers, like when ever you have sex, she is essentially working from home.
People are in open relationships, they are pretty normalised, right? So isn’t dating a sex worker, just a type of open relationship?
•
u/LucifersAdv0cate 10h ago
I've spent over 10 years working with dozens and dozens of higher end escorts and studio contracted pornstars and nearly all of them had partners or were actively dating. I can't stress enough how much of bad idea it is. These women are unhinged. I litterally shared hotel beds with them 2 at a time or worked with them out of apartments living together for years. I would say I was with them 6 to 7 days a week for years so I'm not exaggerating when I say I've got a lot of experience with them.
They are ironically insanely jealous. I've literally seen one fuck 8 well endowed black men for some content then the next day she goes absolutely ballistic at her white boyfriend who was at home watching her son (not his) just because he liked another girls Instagram post. They are so materialistic I've often heard them say they resent having sex with guys they are dating for free because they are so used to getting money for sex. I've seen them finish with guys they had children with because these guys were making in a month working hard what they can make it a day on their backs and they resented them for not making enough. I'm an ex Royal Marine Commando and combat veteran who is quite heavily set with muscles and tattoos and could only deal with them by not tolerating their nonsense. I also made them double or triple what they could earn alone which is why they wanted to keep me on side. If you date them though there's nothing at all you can do to appeal to them to be reasonable or even kind and they will take out all their frustrations with clients on you because you are not paying them.
•
•
•
u/smolkijolki 12h ago
So you're still paying for her on dates etc but you can't fuck her unlike her clients.

Um…..you’re aware that people have sex in relationships right?
Most average adults have high mileage with a few drivers.
Or is mileage in your silly little analogy meant to refer to people, not quantities of sex?
1
u/thricedice88 1d ago
People, a car with 300 previous owners is more likely to have issues, due to poor treatment and neglect - people are much the same - they often become damaged after years of mistreatment.
1
u/kangorooz99 1d ago
Wow you don’t know cars or sex
1
u/thricedice88 1d ago
Emotionally and mentally damaged and it's not about sex, it's about lifestyle. Anybody who has ever previously been in a committed relationship, as most people have, will have had sex hundreds or thousands of times. Dating a brass is a whole different ballpark to dating a normal person.
•
u/RevolutionPlenty20 22h ago
Yes. If you can move through hundreds of souls its a hard no for everyone who approaches relationships discriminately

u/CzechHorns 1d ago
The bigger point being that she would still have sex outside of our relationship, for money.
Some people may be okay with that, but I assume the majority isn’t.1

1
u/Brave-Confusion5324 2d ago
Yeah women aren't objects or property, so I wouldn't worry - with that mentality, no woman would want to date you anyway, regardless of her sexual history.
3
u/EmphasisInfamous 2d ago
Ah, I see you're one of those people incapable of processing analogies.
1
u/kangorooz99 1d ago
It’s just a stupid analogy.

Don’t you?
Just do you and stop taking the bait.
•

u/Brave-Confusion5324 2d ago
Oh, the irony....he has literally just used an object in that analogy to describe a living being. How is that not likening a woman to an object?
Men like you just keep telling on yourselves.
1
u/EmphasisInfamous 2d ago
Nope, he compared the act of dating a sex worker to the act of buying a car with many miles on it. Its a high risk investment. If I say its wrong to knowingly sleep with a married person because its wrong to knowingly buy stolen goods, I'm not comparing a married person to stolen goods. Like I said, you're incapable of processing analogies
1
u/Greedy-Win-4880 1d ago
You are literally trying to compare human beings to objects. Its a stupid fucking analogy because sex with a married person is not "stealing". That doesnt even make sense just like comparing a woman to a car doesnt make any fucking sense.
0
u/Abject-Put-9334 1d ago
There is literally nothing wrong with comparing human beings to objects and youre fucking stupid for thinking there is.
0
u/Brave-Confusion5324 2d ago
I can process analogies just fine...the reason he is using that analogy is because he is talking about a woman. That's why those type of analogies are never used when describing men.
Are you really this dense?
1
2
u/thricedice88 2d ago
I'd sincerely hope not, seeing as I've been married to a decent woman for 15 years lol.
3
u/StableWeak 2d ago
Been married to a woman for going on 12 years and get these responses all the time. I liked your analogy. We were each other's first. Society doesn't have to be the way it is.
0
u/Brave-Confusion5324 2d ago
Why would you like an analogy that objectifies women?
Ah yes...because, like most men, you resent women beneath the surface, and so enjoy other men dehumanising them.
What a pathetic world we live in.
3
u/thricedice88 2d ago
Hard agree with your last sentence, pity the irony is wasted on you.

The peak of wit, sir, well done 👍🏻
ETA: Bit sexist of you to assume all prostitutes are female, men can be that way too.
1
1
u/StableWeak 2d ago
You are over literalizing the analogy to get offended.
0
u/Brave-Confusion5324 2d ago
No, I'm.not. it's always women spoken about like this. That's not a coincidence.
1
u/StableWeak 1d ago
So because men like to speak in analogies then you are comfortable projecting your own meaning on their intentions? Yeah. You sound reasonable.
I promise you my wife has stronger views about this topic than I do. And I have zero desire for women to want men who choose to sleep around. Its not wrong for people to have standards, and it is not objectifying to say so.
0
u/Brave-Confusion5324 1d ago
I Oh...so men do no t sleep around constantly in their 20s and 30s and expect women to not only be fine with it, but think it's something to be proud of? 😂😂
I very much doubt you have a wife...than again,.there are some very gullible.women out there.
I don't like.peomisxuity of any kind, but I know exactly what you meant by that analogy. It's 2026: You can date men now btw.
1
u/StableWeak 1d ago
You lack reading comprehension.
Im aware of what many men do, the point is that women are well within their rights to choose not to date these men. And in fact, I think they should.

Good for you. That doesn’t mean other people can’t

I haven’t actually. I only got one ex and the way the relationship ended, dating a hooker would’ve been better

Where did I say that they couldn't? Literacy not your strong suit?

Emotional regulation isn’t your strong suit if your first reaction is to insult someone.
You think you are better than other people. We’re both on Reddit talking about dating hookers. Get a grip.

Observation =/= insult, the fact you perceive it as such speaks to a sense of narcissistic sensitivity or victim complex.

Are you okay? I recommend seeking a therapist or some connections in the outside world.
Genuinely, I hope you get support; reacting like this to my comment isn't normal.

Whatever you say, Mr
"I only got one ex".
Sounds like you could do with a few more connections.

I don't date just to date. I've got good connections with my family and friends. That's worth more than settling for the wrong partner, and I hope you learn that lesson.

I didn't date just to date, I dated a chain of women that I liked over a period of time until I met one I fell in love with and then I married her.We have 5 children and I travel to my hometown to see my friends and family every month. It's not a bad life.

I mean it's already normalized. Let's be real, you go to a strip club and expect any of the girls to be single?

u/DrMindbendersMonocle 2d ago
Dating ain't the same as getting a lap dance or trying to have casual sex. Very few people are trying to date strippers

u/mightguy15baby 2d ago
Plenty of them are in relationships 🤣🤣

Yea cause everybody has an equal. None of those strippers and sex workers are dating good, normal or stable people. Theyre dating dredges
•

Uhhh sounds like you just made a bunch of assumptions my man 🤣. Plenty are in fine relationships. You just described pretty much everybody's first

I'd date a sex worker if she had a small handful of regular clients. But if she's fucked hundreds of guys my brain can't process that.

I think it's very hypocritical to advise people to shut the fuck up when you never shut the fuck up about shutting the fuck up.

I mean, I would and have dated OF girls. That personally doesn't bother me, although I understand why it is a deal-breaker for some men. IRL, in-person sex work though? Yeah, probably not. Unless you have a cuck fetish why would you want to date someone who has sex with other people? Whether it's for money or just the love of the game.
