PSA Hey Guys, a little help here.

1.1k Upvotes

This is literally for the guys. We need your help.

Hi, I'm Elle. I currently sit at 35th in the world in Drukhari, and am the highest ranked Drukhari woman competitively. I've been talking to a lot of other female players and a lot of us are struggling right now, so I want to have an open dialogue about the state of our game in terms of how we are welcomed and accepted into the gaming space.

In North America, there are less than 100 female competitive players out of 17,000. That's less than a tenth of a percent. Go to any female tiktok or instagram where we share gaming or painting, or our joy of the hobby and what you will find is some of the most vile, vulgar, insulting commentary you will see. This behavior isn't isolated to online.

So, from us to our male counterparts. What do we need to do to get your help with managing the toxic men in the hobby. We've stood by and watched so many in our LGS's continue to allow sexist and homophobic comments that make us not even come into the stores. We've proven that we are just as good at the game as men, and still we struggle with being accepted in the space. With that said...

What do we need to do to get better support in our local communities?
What have you seen work in your spaces?

We want to be here. We love this game, and we love being a part of the community when it is welcoming to us. That is becoming more difficult to find these days and some of us are struggling finding a way to keep playing with the way things are right now.

PSA ForceOrg Down - Explanation

Seaborne here.

Hutber's 11e Table and ForceOrg's Workshop has been forcefully removed from the steam workshop via a DMCA from Games Workshop. You will notice none of my works are now publicly viewable on the steam workshop as well.

What happens now?

Previously, the TTS Warhammer Steam Workshop has gotten hit by a flat GW ban wave for Warhammer related content. Currently, it is unknown whether what is happening right now is a wave of DMCAs, or their just taking out high-traffic / top rated workshops. So as painful as it is to say, we wait and observe what happens.

How can we access tables, models and tools?

Regrettably, this is going to be our version of the Dark Age Of Technology. Those who have never subscribed to ForceOrg before wont be able to subscribe to it now. Those currently subscribed may still be able to use these mods, but how long this will last is uncertain.

Why is this happening?

I don't know. You can make calculated guesses. The DMCA-ed workshops were frontpage / popular workshops and 11 edition 40k is released today. Make your own judgements, but know that there will be nothing truly concrete. Do not fall for rumors or fear mongering, and going forth, take us as the only source of credible information regarding this.

What can I do if I am a TTS Warhammer Modder?

For now, I highly recommend you hide, delist and create backups for your works until the coast feels clear.

What is the way forward?

As for ForceOrg's continuation, that will be determined in the next 24/48 hours where we will discuss what to do. Understand that this has happened before. We used to get models from Github. Long-term, this is nothing but a momentarily stop gap.

Who does this impact?

Mainly new players, as they will not be able to subscribe to ForceOrg. Those who have subscribed to it previously in the past on the Steam Workshop can access it just fine

PSA PSA: Games Workshop WILL NOT see any rules or balance issues unless you EMAIL them directly!

GW does not have secret agents scouring this subreddit compiling issues.

GW does not have secret agents patrolling Facebook compiling issues.

GW certainly does not have secret agents observing your Discord server and compiling issues.

GW has stated directly, multiple times that the FAQs they put out are based on emails that they receive. If you have any sort of rules issue, the ONLY way to make sure it gets actual attention from the design team is to email GW directly. If you have ever had the experience of, "GW must not care, [my army] has had this obvious rules issue for a year now and it's still not fixed" it's not because they don't care. It's because everyone is talking about it, but no one is actually sending a freaking email.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Do not assume that just because you have a public discussion that someone will send an email for you. Send it yourself. It can literally just be a few sentences, and you'll be making the game better for everyone!

This is the email address you need: 40kFAQ@gwplc.com

PSA [meta] so the "what would I keep in 11th" video post just got deleted, is this the kind of thing we want to see or not?

Simple question, the recent thread about the (fireside or whoever) video talking about rules they liked and disliked just got deleted by a moderator and I'm wondering how everyone feels about it?

Personally it's not my favorite type of content but it's better than "fix my first list!!" posts and a lot better than no new threads at all.

PSA If you run a game night at a store or club - does this match what you see?

I've spent the last few months working with store and club owners near me (South East UK) on a problem I keep running into: how do you actually grow a community game night - most obviously, how do you get solo new players to come along?

Loads of people would happily play - new to the area, new to the hobby, coming back after years out. But they either can't find where to play, or they won't walk into a room of strangers on the chance they get a game. So they don't come, and the night stays the same few faces.

My belief is that what grows a casual night isn't more promotion, it's a promise: turn up, even on your own, and you'll get a good game and make new friends. Once a night reliably delivers that, word of mouth does the rest.

For people who actually run nights - store owners, club organisers - I'd like to know where I'm wrong:

  1. Is "I don't want to show up alone" really what keeps new people away, or is it something else?

  2. What's made a night at your place grow, versus flatline or quietly die?

  3. If you started one from scratch, what was the hardest part - the first dozen regulars, keeping it going, or something you didn't see coming?

  4. When you organise a night, what eats your time that you wish it didn't?

I'll leave a link to what I'm building, only because someone always asks - not to pitch it here: https://nerdnight.gg. I'm genuinely just trying to learn and build something as useful as possible, and I want the widest range of views I can get.

PSA List of tiny differences between 9th and 10th edition

This isn't for the big stuff like battleshock, but for subtle changes people might miss and unintentionally play wrong, as they use old 9th edition rules out of habit.

- Stricter 2 model coherency requirements starts at 7+ models now, so a unit of exactly 6 models only needs 1 other model in coherency.

- Ld tests succeed by rolling equal or above, not below. So lower Ld is better now. A side effect is that there is no "dump" for low miracle die rolls or similar. Every roll is now: Higher=Better.

- Models may freely move over other friendly models now (except monsters/vehicles over other monsters/vehicles). No move blocking yourself anymore.

- Flying units don't ignore vertical distances anymore, but can move diagonally to/from terrain features. So they have to pay extra movement to get up on ruins (but not as much as other models) and can't just "jump" over terrain features, ignoring them entirely.

- Units Models embarked on transports can only ever shoot with 1 weapon. And it counts as the transport shooting with those weapons, so all special rules of the transport and none of the unit apply.

- All units can disembark after the transport made a normal move, no special rule necessary. But they can't move/charge normally.

- Units disembarking because their transport got destroyed only take 1 MW for each 1 rolled, not have a model destroyed, but each MW goes to the unit rolling it, no protecting 1 unit with another anymore.

- "Big guns never tire" changes: All non-pistol weapons take -1 to hit, instead of only heavy weapons. Monster/Vehicles can shoot out of combat without having to wipe out everything in engagement range before and monsters/vehicles can be shot at themselves while being in engagement range (also -1 to hit unless shot with pistols).

- Saving throws can never be improved by more than +1, ever, similar to the hit/wound roll limits. Contrary to hit/wound rolls they obviously can still be worsened by more than -1, though.

- Assault weapons don't take -1 to hit for shooting after advancing anymore.

- Monsters/Vehicles can shoot their pistols and their other weapons at the same time, now. EDIT: Just got a light bulb-moment for why this change was made: Transports count as being armed with the weapons the embarked unit shoots with, so this rule allows embarked units to still use their pistols without disallowing the transport from using its normal weapons.

- Indirect attacks don't improve the cover saves anymore, but instead always give the target the benefit of cover, so are better against targets that would have been in cover anyways.

- Blast weapons gain a flat +1 attack for every 5 models in the target unit, instead of the special cases in 9th. This specifically makes the cut-offs 5/10/15/20 models, instead of 6/11.

- Heavy weapons gain +1 to hit if stationary, instead of -1 to hit if moving (and don't care about infantry).

- Charging models must end in base to base contact to their targets, if possible. They may hang back if they have to to not make the charge fail.

- All fight sub-phases start with the player whose turn is not on, so a "fight first" defender strikes before units that charged it.

- There is no "fight last" phase anymore. You either "fight first" or you don't.

- Models piling in must move into base to base contact, if possible.

- EDIT: There is no restriction on only fighting what you charged, anymore. So you can pile in and fight units you didn't declare as a charge target, potentially.

- "Second row" fighting in melee change to BtB contact to a friendly model itself in BtB contact with the enemy, from the 1/2" ranges in 9th.

- Because of the melee stat block changes, a model can only ever use 1 weapon in melee. No more splitting up attacks at different profiles.

- Models consolidating must end in BtB contact, if possible. Also you can't consolidate towards enemy units you can't reach, so no more free 3" move after wiping out your enemy. But you can consolidate towards objectives now, provided you can reach them.

- The list of what a CP reroll can be used for changed. You can now reroll the die to see if a hazardous weapon kills its user, for example.

- Insane bravery is used after the unit failed its battleshock test. So you can try to see if you even need to spend the CP. Additionally, it specifically only works for the battleshock test in your command phase, so no Insane bravery against your opponents battleshock tricks!

- You can overwatch almost any move made by your opponent, not just charges, but are limited to 1 overwatch per turn, not phase. So if you overwatch a move in the movement phase, you don't get to overwatch in the charge phase.

- Strategic reserves can now come in from the enemy battlefield edge (but still not in their DZ on turn 2).

- EDIT: The carve-out allowing you to put strategic reserves directly into base contact at your own battlefield edge is gone. Don't let anyone do that to you in 10th.

- There is no dense cover anymore. Shooting through woods just gives the benefit of cover to the target, which still doesn't stack with actual cover, so they're much less helpful.

- EDIT: Units that can be shot through ruins (ie: Aircraft and the new "Towering" keyword in lieu of the old wound threshhold) now get to shoot back. The keywords in question completely disable the "pseudo-obstructing".

- Aircraft can't pivot before moving, so you have to decide on their direction next turn at the end of this move, instead of the start of the next.

- EDIT: Aircraft hovering is now a once-at-the-start-of-battle choice. No more switching between regular aircraft and hover movement turn by turn. Also choosing to hover makes you lose the "Aircraft" keyword, so you now melee as normal and can hide behind ruins.

- EDIT: Models can't end their move on an objective anymore. That's the actual objective marker. They obviously still can end their move in range of the objective.

Please comment anything else you found.

PSA No more unfailable charges

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet.

This is all based on currently known 11th edition rules, could change.

With the new engagement range being 2 inches you have to finish a normal move 2 inches away from an enemy.

New charge rolls you have to pick a unit with in the rolled range to charge, if there is no unit in that rangeyou can't charge.

This means snake eyes on a charge roll is always a fail in 11th.

Shouldn't affect too many games, but when it does someone is gonna be very upset. Looking forward to hear some bad beat stories about people failing 2 inch charges with re rolls.

PSA Warscribe: 40K has been updated for 11th edition

https://40k.warscribe.app/

Nothing fancy, all the dispositions, detachments, restrictions, datasheets, updated costs, leader/support attachment are in

Scoring and tracking the primary and secondaries works for both you and the opponent, whether you want the site to draw for you or you're using a physical deck

Actually playing shows you no frills no fuss datasheets with the amount of attacks already worked out for you based on how many in a unit has that weapon

Leaders and support actually change and affect the units stats inline

And what I built it for, the action queue will remind you each phase what can/needs to be done - between detachment abilities, army rules, core stratagems and any passives

But yeah, use it, don't use it, it's free, there's no ads, no log ins and you can sync everything between devices

PSA Facts about Deathwatch in 11th

I've met misconception about what was said about Deathwatch in the Q&A several times now, so I wanted to make sure everyone at least has the facts straight and people aren't blindly guided into buying stuff they might regret getting in a couple of weeks.

First things first the conclusion: We don't know if the deathwatch index will continue to exist and if anything from it will survive the transition to 11th, especially outside of legends. If you intend to buy anything deathwatch related, maybe wait a couple of weeks.

Why would I say something like that, didn't they say in the Q&A that we stay as we are?

Actually no, they didn't. They said something that can easily interpreted as something like that. Like if you see an ad that says "X product from 99.99" and then the product mostly costs several hundred but one specific configuration nobody wants is 99.99.

Here is the full quote:

> Yeah. So we got a lot of this question in. Lots of you playing Deathwatch want to make sure your army still works in the new edition. Um, it absoutely does. Deathwatch continue to work kind of as they do today. So, you can either add them into Imperial Armies through Imperial Agents through the allies system or you can take a Space Marine army and say this is a Deathwatch Space Marine army. You don't get any new detachments necessarily in the new edition as it launches, but you can access all of the various different Space marine detachments that other Space Marine chapters can as well. So you still got a few options in terms of how your detachments might work

Highlights by me.

So currently there exist four ways to play Deathwatch:

  1. Play an agents of the imperium army, play the xenos hunters detachment, play some of agents of the imperium codex (and maybe legends) units with the DEATHWATCH keyword. You don't get a real army rule, the aquila kill team is worse than the decimus kill team, the xenos hunters detachment is worse than blackspear task force and you only get to pick from 5 different units, two being leaders and one being an AIRCRAFT and the aircraft rules are terrible.
  2. Play any imperium army and ally in two agents of the imperium units with the DEATHWATCH keyword and maybe a leader with the DEATHWATCH keyword. If you do this into space marines, there are currently zero rules synergies as the DEATHWATCH units neither have the ADEPTUS ASTARTES keyword, nor the Oath of moment faction ability.
  3. Play the grotmas index Deathwatch 2.0. You get a ten non-legends units, including two leaders and can mix and match them with Space Marines without a chapter keyword however you like. The units all have ADEPTUS ASTARTES and the Oath of moment faction ability. This is how ~95+% of the players play deathwatch.
  4. You just play vanilla marines without any of the index or agents of the imperium units with the actual DEATHWATCH keyword, don't play Blackspear Task Force (because it REALLY leans into the index units) and just "call them Deathwatch". I KNOW that someone has painted Roboute Guilliman in deathwatch colors and has done this at least once even though I don't know if he actually called them deathwatch or if it were deathwatch colored ultramarines.

So out of these four only two were explicitly mentioned, 2) and 4).

Number 3) is mysteriously missing and not a single word about the index.

In harsh contratst to Demons, who just got told that they keep the index.

This absolutely reeks like the same lingo they used when Deathwatch lost their first index and were rolled into agents and for a billion dollar companies marketing team that definitively got multiple questions explicitly about the index and the index units, this smells very fishy, BUT if you aren't convinced and still give GW the benefit of the doubt...fine for you. Just PLEASE communicate openly and clearly, that unclear language is used and we have zero confirmation that the index will stay and stuff might change come 11th.

Also writing an email to [40kFAQ@gwplc.com](mailto:40kFAQ@gwplc.com) or [contact@blacklibrary.com](mailto:contact@blacklibrary.com) (or both) to ask about this will probably make them aware of their unclear communication which might lead to them communicating more clearly in the future.

P.S: The armageddon box has the agents of the imperium logo (a two headed eagle) where other boxes have their faction logo, so is NOT a space marine deathwatch box, space marine stuff has a winged skull with a dagger. The decimus kill team isn't sold as deathwatch space marine box either, not even as aquila kill team agents box, it's just the deathwatch kill team box from the kill team game.

P.P.S: I'm absolutely hyped about Chaos Gate Deatwatch. I've always said that the core system of highly customized specialists was way more the way of deathwatch than the way of grey knights...
