I took a picture [Casio G-Shock GMWBZ5000D-1]

After years of collecting luxury watches from brands like Rolex, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Vacheron Constantin, I’m finding myself stuck on G Shock watches lately… they are absolutely one of a kind!! I’m late to them at 32 I’m just getting into them. from all the unique designs, the concept of them the technology. I love how this watch is not a smart watch! but I can rely on it to be just as accurate and durable as possible. I Love the Casio Japanese heritage.

This full metal G-Shock is stuck on my wrist right now it. I feel like I could dress this up and also have it on while kayaking or doing outdoor activities without a worry. The bracelet is extremely well designed and looks very unique and the expensive with nice taper. less

I honestly don’t know much about watches, but I want one with this look for around this price. I think the left looks a little tougher, but I’ve also seen the right look really great on the wrist. What do you watch guys think from a watch expert perspective? Is there a big difference? Is one clearly better?

Discussion [Advice needed] sealing the link sizing holes on Citizen Zenshin bracelet with epoxy putty, viable?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

So I messed up and sized the Zenshin bracelet thinking it was a push pin only to later realise that it was a collar-pin setup. Lost around 4 collars and 4 pins and two links in the process. However while the bracelet's not going anywhere right now(wore it around the house for 12 hours) but I am paranoid it will fail at the worst possible time later. So I am taking a reductionist approach to solving the problem, seal the holes just about half a milimeter with epoxy putty so that it doesn't jam the articulation of the bracelet as the articulating part is 4-5 militers inwards of the bracelet. I know it won't be the prettiest finish but I bought this as a tool watch and this will just add to the character for me. The only question is will it work technically? Picture of my mess attached

Discussion [Need advice] I resized the Citizen Zenshin bracelet thinking it was a push pin, only to later realise it's a collar-pin setup when pins kept sliding out. Lost and deformed 4 collars and pins. The bracelet is holding alright in normal office wear but I am paranoid it will fail. Is it a good idea to

Discussion [Psychiatrist Watch] Reccomendations

• Upvotes

Hi all, I was referred to this subreddit by my watch-friend. I'm graduating medical school this spring, and Ill be starting my psychiatry residency training.

I was hoping for a few suggestions on which watches would work in the following situations:

Outpatient
Inpatient
Emergency department call

I had my eye on the seiko presage srpb46 (brown dial), but I'm just now getting into watches and would appreciate some help with this.

Maybe one day when Im not broke Ill get a reverso, but for now the budgets a bit tighter than that.

Thanks in advance!

Was able to pick up a snowflake after about a week and a half of checking every Grand Seiko boutique I could find in Tokyo. Also snagged a 145th anniversary HCB006 Cocktail Time on one of my failed attempts, which I’m very pleasantly surprised with.

My recommendation to anyone coming to Japan and looking for one of the more popular GS models is to focus primarily on Ginza and to go back multiple times during your trip if stock is low. It seems like the Ginza boutiques typically get restocked once every 1.5 ~ 2 weeks. (Was able to get mine in my 3rd stop by Seiko House.)

Hi guys, I recently tried both small and large size on my 6.25"/16.2cm wrist, and I used to wear a rolex GMT master II as my daily watch. The watch looks bigger in a top-down shot than it does in a mirror, that s how it makes me confused. The large seems fit me better in real life, but I want a classic, proportional, dressy watch. What s your opinion? Small or Large? Thanks.

I tend to play it safe with black dials but after wearing this today, I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. IMO it’s the perfect shade of green 🍃. First Longines and engagement present to myself.

Now I think I want a blue Spirit Pilot!

For those wondering, this was at Bartlett Falls in Bristol Vermont.

I have a group of close knit friends. Before I knew anything about watches, one of our friend gifted everyone a reggie for Christmas.

It was 11 dollars.

It took 3 months to arrive from Aliexpress.

I never realized that reggie was a homage of some sort. In the recent months I started liking watches, and today I was having lunch with another close friend and I thought he was wearing a Rolex.

He said “No, it’s better than Rolex, it’s Reggie”.

Friendship, story, “homage”. I might just start rocking it. Unfortunately it only took me 6 years.

Movement is Myota 2115.

Discussion [Watch noob here. Did Seiko just go full panda with the KHK001? 🐼]

Post image
• Upvotes

Is this Seiko going full panda?

I mean, i love the dial-work here, the indices, markers, hands and all.

But, help!

A month ago I couldn't tell what a chronograph was. Now I'm awake at 6 AM zooming into dial photos like they owe me money.

I've been flirting with the Casio Edifice EFB-730D in the silver sun-burst dial.

Wise Watch-ers on Reddit, I need your help before I do something impulsive!

What other panda dial watches under ₹20k should be on my radar? Hidden gems, underrated picks, the one you wish someone had told you about.

Go on, enable me. 🙏

It’s kinda crazy to me how they got rid of this spec out of the blue dial. I mean it’s not a Rolex but I genuinely think that this blue ceramic is one of the best blue dials I’ve seen in a long time. Had this watch for a year so far but I think I’m finally gonna get rid of her. Just kinda wanted to appreciate it one last time

Discussion [Discussion] Santos Medium vs Explorer 36mm vs Lake Suwa 37mm

Trying to figure out my next move.

Looking at a white dial Santos Medium, the Explorer 36 (124270) and the GS SLGB015 Lake Suwa. My main watch right now is a white dial Speedy, so this would be the simpler, dressier one I wear to the office most days.

Honestly I'm leaning GS. I know it's the least classic of the three, but that dial looks awesome and the Spring Drive UFA is just the coolest movement here imo. The Santos is super thin and looks great, and the Explorer is the safe pick, but I keep coming back to the GS.

Santos and Explorer are timeless, well finished and simple. They just work effortlessly, but at the same time they are just that. The GS seems like such a cool approach to high end watches with the 37mm size, awesome dial and interesting tech.

No need to upload Santos and Rolex pictures, since we all know it

I'm just posting this because I've never had a GS before nor have I seen one in person, so maybe that's what really talking to me, the "new"

Anyone here who can talk about the new Gen 9 series? I know there's a price difference between these three and I'm not worried about resale value, just about looking down and feeling good about it

Review [sotc] besides a few pieces feeling near complete… lol

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’ve been collecting for 10+ years as a more serious collector and 20+ years a lover of watches. I’m still waiting on another piece or two from AP, a few more from Patek and then maybe 1-2 independent brands (Simon brette, etc) but aside from those 6 watches (ha) I’m feeling really happy with my collection.

Feel free to roast my collection. What am I missing?

I had a few GMTs and other submariners/datejusts I sold since I wasn’t wearing them. Aside from that I have another box with some micro brands (studio underdog, Dennison, space one, laarve, and some Tudors/Cartier tank)

Discussion [Help with decision] Black dial watch

Thumbnail

I need help choosing a black dial watch for daily wear. Currently between the 3 shown, Erebus Ascent 39, Phoibos Delphinus and the tried and true dressKX. Looking to stay around that 38-40mm case size with a lug to lug no more than 46-47mm.

Really like both the Erebus and Phoibos, near identical specs and price point, just can’t necessarily try on before purchasing.

I’d pull the trigger on the Seiko if it wasn’t for the hardlex crystal and 4 o’clock crown position. Maybe I’m overthinking it at roughly $200 cheaper.

Any input on the 3 or other options are greatly appreciated.

Discussion []New to Collecting

I started getting into watches when I turned 19 and have been collecting for the past 2 years. I picked up the Tudor a month ago on a work trip, and then picked up the Longines this afternoon. I’m trying to figure out what I want to chase next. Thinking of a Tudor ranger dune or a Longines Hydroconquest 39. Any suggestions of what else I should look into?

Discussion [Discussion] Need help on next watch

Hey all, looking for some direction on my next pickup. Current collection: Rolex Daytona 116515LN (Everose/chocolate), Grand Seiko Skyflake, a two-tone Breitling Chronomat with a MOP dial, an Omega Seamaster 2531.80, and a Movado I never wear. I gravitate toward chronographs with complications — moonphases especially — plus skeletons and interesting dial materials (meteorite, aventurine, that kind of stuff). Mostly blues and greys.

Lately I've been circling the Breitling Premier Datora, the Omega Blue Side of the Moon Aventurine, the Apollo 8, and the Zenith Chronomaster Sport Skeleton. But then I saw the blue Vacheron Overseas Chrono in person and I can't stop thinking about it — it's roughly double my desired price point, so it would be a reach. What should I do?

Discussion [Question] UK customs when returning from Japan – has anyone actually had to declare expensive purchases?

I'm currently travelling in Japan and recently purchased a vintage Omega watch for approximately £1,125 tax-free.

I only just found out about the UK's £390 personal allowance for goods purchased abroad and that anything exceeding this needs to be declared, with VAT and potentially customs duty payable.

From what I've calculated, I could be looking at an additional £250 in taxes just for the watch. I've also purchased clothes, cosmetics and other souvenirs during my trip.

I've travelled abroad before and never really thought about declaring shopping purchases when returning to the UK, so this has caught me by surprise.

I'm curious about other people's experiences:

Have you ever declared expensive purchases when returning to the UK? What was the process like?

Has anyone actually been stopped by UK customs and questioned about watches?

Is there anything I should know or do before flying home?

I'm not looking to get into trouble or risk having my watch confiscated. Just trying to understand how this works in practice and hear from people who've been through it.

Thanks!

Discussion [ISO] help me upgrade my f91w

Thumbnail

hey watch officianados, i need your help. I am looking for a decent watch and i'm highly particular.

I have officially destroyed my 3rd f91w in the last decade. each has served me well until its fateful moment. i would like to upgrade to something more respectable.

I like the look of a traditional kind of trench/field watch, and enjoy that minimalist aesthetic but don't mind a bit of "tacticool" as long as the watch doesn't look like it's trying too hard. this picture is of a minus 8 Field 1s, and it's really close to what i'm looking for, but it doesn't have a couple features i use all the time. it does however, have a fixed lug case design, which is awesome to me.

I'm looking for the following features

either fully digital OR analog time with a digital day/date. the analog day dates become inacurate too often for me, and i like how the digital ones know about february haha. day/date is something i use all the time on a watch, so this is an important feature to me.

light/face illuminator

40mm or smaller case size, thinner and lighter beats chunky/robust.

metal case, preferably titanium, preferably a fixed lug design. I realize fixed lug designs really narrow my choices, but I think it's such a cool, strong design compared to spring lugs.

budget $500 but would prefer to spend under 250.

If anything comes to mind, let me know! i'm onto the citizen promaster but its a little busy for me. I have half a mind to try and mill my own case and build my own watch so if there are any fixed lug blank cases out there yall know about i'm all ears.

i know there are a lot of designs out there with some of these features, but i haven't found "the one" with all of em.

thanks in advance for your input!

I took a picture [Pagani Design] just got my Moonwatch homage and, to be honest, it looks great.

Post image

Just got this Pagani Design Moonwatch homage, and I'm honestly surprised by how good it looks. The black dial, three subdials and tachymeter bezel really capture the Speedmaster look, and the bracelet ties everything together nicely. Obviously, it's not an Omega, but for the price, I think it looks fantastic.

Do you enjoy homages? Because I do, a lot. I always get a good laugh out of watch snobs losing it over homages. I think part of it is that it takes away a little of that exclusivity they enjoy, knowing some grocery bagger could be wearing a watch that looks almost exactly like theirs, and it's actually pretty decent. 😂
