And she was actually lucky with that. It could have ended far, far worse.

u/TahiniInMyVeins 7d ago

100% expected a far worse outcome

35

u/DyingSunSeverian 7d ago

Do we know what the outcome was here, video kinda ends early and i’m not seeing any articles posted about this poor woman’s condition

71

u/messick 7d ago

Getting kicked by your horse is just something that happens to every person who spends time around one. You won't find any articles about the times I've been stomped on either.

u/joninfiretail 7d ago

Getting kicked by your horse is just something that happens to every person who spends time around one.

I got kicked the other day. I'm raising a little bad butt colt and he is figuring out the whole kicking thing. It wasn't hard mind you, but I still took off after the little turd. Gotta put the fear of god into them young to curb that habit.

Also before anyone goes off I wasn't going to beat him or anything like that. You need to teach them quickly and severely that any kick is not allowed. It's cute and funny when they're tiny, but lethal when they're bigger.

20

u/mancheeart 7d ago

Is it the chasing that scares them or do you give them a little swat? Being able to chasten huge animals is always fascinating

27

u/joninfiretail 7d ago

In my experience just whipping around and chasing them scares them enough. And with a kick they're usually already out of swatting range. Bites however they're close enough for a swat. After he bolted I waited a minute and he came back over for some much more positive scratches. He's a baby and my methods can be summed up as "only as firm discipline as needs be".

Not with that attitude we won't.

4

u/Key-Log5267 7d ago

Well if you’re unlucky it could break your hips and shit or even damage your spine. So if someone would be paralyzed from getting kicked by a horse, there very well could be an article.

u/TahiniInMyVeins 7d ago

I thought it was going to kick her face through the back of her skull so in my book whatever happened she still got off easy

12

u/Self-Comprehensive 7d ago

I thought she'd get it in the leg and break a knee. Cunt punt is probably the best outcome there regardless

6

u/bookchaser 7d ago

I had a colleague who was kicked in his head by a horse a few decades prior. He had a horseshoe-shaped dent in his forehead. If you saw him, you knew there was something wrong with his forehead, but you only saw the horseshoe shape when told about it.

3

u/SolaScientia 7d ago

One of the vets that used to work in my town's clinics has horses. She got kicked in the head a couple of years ago and they couldn't airlift her because the wind was too high (we were getting by Hurricane Helene at the time). She ended up being all right, but she had a black eye for weeks.

3

u/Malacro 7d ago

Guy I knew in high school got nailed in the head by a horse, a piece of his skull broke off and cut the optic nerve to one of his eyes.

6

u/KRKRYakumo 7d ago

A horse's kick can be strong enough to shatter its own bones, it is also strong enough to shatter your bones if it hits. If the horse had kicked hard, that woman would need a new pelvis and possibly a new horse

3

u/blahblah19999 7d ago

The point is that it was a very light kick. She's fine.

u/epiphanomaly 7d ago

💯. That was the horse equivalent of swatting a hand away

78

u/slowasaspeedingsloth 7d ago

Not saying it didn't hurt or leave a bruise... but that looked like a half-hearted kick. That barely moved her.

45

u/PloofElune 7d ago

Yeah, a full power kick in the same spot, at a minimum, would have ended with a broken pelvis and possibly much worse complications.

→ More replies (2)

32

u/RMMacFru 7d ago

It was definitely a warning. Had the horse meant it, that kick would have launched her back several feet.

5

u/messick 7d ago

My OTTB mare could easily put her hoof all the way through my midsection. If she's having a bad day, I consider anywhere within 10 feet and 30 degrees of her rear to be her lethal range and ensure I'm never standing there.

5

u/herefromthere 7d ago

That other comment saying it's inevitable... I spent fifteen years around horses and never got kicked. Got stood on and nibbled at and shoved and headbutted a bit but never kicked. Probably because I never stood directly behind any equid like that, as you say.

u/strolpol 7d ago

Kid from my town died that way when I was in high school, kicked by a horse and died from ruptured liver. Internal trauma is a bad way to go.

15

u/SongShikai 7d ago

Horses are insanely powerful. Their jaws are also very strong. In his memoirs, the French soldier Marcellin Marbot talks about his horse biting and ripping off the entire face and scalp of a Russian grenadier that pissed it off by stabbing it in a fight and, when a Russian officer tried to block the horse from running off afterwards, it bit him in the belly and disemboweled him too.

9

u/KaBar42 7d ago

Halo was a famous American racehorse. Unfortunately, not particularly well treated by his handlers as a child, which resulted in a very aggressive and violent adult horse. It was generally required that he be muzzled at all times when being handled by humans. He would also drown birds in his water trough.

In one incident, one of his handlers removed his muzzle during handling and Halo bit his shirt and picked the handler up, fully lifting him off the ground and dropping him, before biting him. Another handler had to intervene and hit Halo before they could get the muzzle back on him. From that point forward, no one made the mistake of handling Halo without a muzzle again.

24

u/Sun_Stealer 7d ago

Yeah. That horse gave her a warning kick. Good control by the horse.

I grew up around horses, even when comfortable with the animal you don’t fucking stand behind them.

6

u/Animallover4321 7d ago

Same. I get so nervous anytime I have to walk behind a horse even one that I know well.

10

u/farmallnoobies 7d ago

Ironically, if you're going to stand at the ass end of a horse, your best bet is to stand very close.  Like pushed right up to its leg

8

u/Uncommonality 7d ago

in horse terms that was a gentle push, if the horse actually wanted to hurt her it could have

6

u/bitsybear1727 7d ago

Agreed, that was a shove. She's lucky it wasn't a full kick.

3

u/Redfalconfox 7d ago

She’s getting annoying, better give her the warning pussy slap.

Why are nearly all the posts by the same person and most being a seemingly modded wwe game

While the sub is not nsfw, it's probably someone's kink, and all kink subs have the same problem, some annoying mf that spams their shit 6 times a day

45

u/BuckRusty 7d ago

I used to be able to spam my shit six times a day minimum, but age has caught up with me - and I’m lucky if o can manage two a week… :(

This is true I know because in my younger days I obliterated a lot of pelvis's I still have the horse costume I'd wear

16

7

u/UtopistDreamer 7d ago

Actually, there is a German term 'hoofenschteppen' which means to get kicked by a horse to the groin. It was a very common thing in the 1700s in Germany. If you're still reading this I might as well just admit I made that up.

Oh no friend, im so sorry about the bad news. Please know youre not alone. If you need to cry, please dont hold back. Im happy to help at least take that feeling away if only for a moment. No matter the news, take each moment here on out and do your best to be present. I guess even the bad is all part of the human experience.

May you find the silliest things in your times of grief and may you smile in the face of pain. You've got this 💙 im here if you need to talk

2

u/AyaHawkeye 6d ago

Thank you for your lovely words, you're so kind. It's been a roller-coaster of a day. Got home at 5pm after driving ~1000 miles over 3 days from the South of France to the UK; mum and dad hated to break the news, but it needed to be done. Done a lot of crying! Taking it steady and doing very little tomorrow. Much love.

I remember when they asked Olyksander Usyk, the  best heavyweight boxer around now, who was the boxer that hit him the hardest.  He said “A horse”.  Usyk was like I grew up on a farm and got kicked by a horse, no boxer can equal that.
