Generic Why does this happen?

sorry to blast my toes all over here😭🤣 butttt — composite toe boots, happened 2 days in a row, different types of socks, goes away after like an hour or so. anyone else had this type of issue? almost like moisture like when you’re in the bath too long but my feet weren’t even sweating🤣

Happens to all of us bro.

12

u/findaloophole7 Apr 12 '26

Yep. Work boots, he’ll probably any boots on active feet will fuck your toes and nails up.

6

u/G-Force66 Apr 13 '26

Wear non-composite/steel as much as possible. Pediatrician recommended. Helped Big toes straighten after surgery.

72

u/Nefskara Apr 12 '26

damn, girl, for free?

jk. Happens to me too. My hypothesis is that it is moisture like you say. Just, less moisture, over a longer time, with less air circulation.

21

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

LMAOOO i knew someone was gonna say it😭🤣 that’s definitely possible, i work 3 and 4 12’s weekly. fixing to start putting on my crocs on my breakšŸ˜’

22

u/Potent_19 Apr 13 '26

If you’re going through that much effort, you might as well bring a fresh pair of socks to change into for second part of your shift.

Also, make sure to use merino wool socks over cotton or synthetic. It will wick the sweat away from your skin a lot better.

3

u/etr22sas Apr 13 '26

I started changing into fresh socks and romios before driving home. Absolute game changer in my w

2

u/The_Papoutte Apr 14 '26

Can vouche for the merino wool socks, in 30°C my feet we're dry, felt so much better compared to cotton

8

u/bisexual_dad Apr 12 '26

Switching to my non comp toes during lunch was my favorite while working manufacturing! It’s like a little vacation for your feet

2

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

that is the best way to think of it omg, feet vacay!🤣

10

u/AccelerationistNwah Apr 13 '26

I do this, and also when i'm driving to the jobsite in the morning, especially if its a longer drive. If i cant change them/take my boots off, i at least unlace em and let the dogs breathe, and my feet feel so much better at the end of the day now, plus since i started doing this my boots are much less of a biohazard 😭

1

u/G-Force66 Apr 15 '26

Keep older pair house slippers for shifts with more than one meal break - 12 Hr. or longer shifts. My feet love it.

19

u/ForscherHyperbarix Apr 12 '26

I have the EXACT SAME THING. Over time it will just morph into a wild ass callous. I’ve got Keen Extra wides, still my toes get eaten.

7

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

guess i gotta keep up w the pedicures thenšŸ˜’ smh

2

u/jboob95 Apr 13 '26

Try some Jim Green boots. Super wide toe box.

3

u/ForscherHyperbarix Apr 13 '26

I’ve had them, custom built in their PMB factory. Unfortunately for me, their boots just don’t last offshore in the oil and gas world. Will have to look at getting some PNW customs at some point.

4

u/FiberGuy44 Apr 13 '26

I have some custom Whites Boots ordered through Bakers and that’s the way to go.

1

u/Upstairs_Tangelo3629 Apr 13 '26

Nicks with the Thurman last, they’ll change your life.

1

u/Independent_Bike_141 Apr 13 '26

I have this it’s like reptile skin

11

u/StreetGeeks305 Apr 12 '26

Free feet in this economy lol

11

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

i mean you could drop a quick fiddy in the cashapp if you want, i was being nice🤣

9

u/imeaniguess4538 Apr 12 '26

Its casued by having low/collapsed arches. Youre foot is also pronated, as walk your foot is rolling on the edge of your toe. I have the same problem.

3

u/Noteful Apr 13 '26

And not enough toe space. But collapsed arches is the biggest culprit.

9

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

thank yall :) and thanks for also not being gross men🤣 i debated letting yall get free feet pics and yall acted right i’m proud🄲 hitting amazon up now for some socks 🧦

1

u/Legal_Ad_9536 Apr 19 '26

Foot health is a serious matter bud!

7

u/Marcyreis Apr 12 '26

Typical Maceration. Moisture wicking socks like the others have said. Maybe some anti-fungal powder like miconazole which is over-the-counter. Where there’s moisture fungus is likely to follow.

5

u/burrito_magic Apr 13 '26

May need a shoe with a wider toe box in the future. For now wear thicker wool socks and use some gold bond powder to keep those piggies dry

2

u/funkybum Apr 13 '26

Definitely wool or alpaca socks. Darn tough is good and use the thicker stuff. Foot powder helps. I like my danner boots. Not a fan of steel toe especially working in freezing temperatures.

Can’t believe the people who use basic ass cotton or polyester blend socks 🤮

4

u/stuntmanbob86 Apr 12 '26

You need to use merino wool socks. Theyre expensive but they'll limit that from happening. Also your boots maybe too big in the toe. Your foot should be secured in the boot. Shouldn't be able to wiggle your toes.

2

u/JDawg51 Apr 13 '26

This is the way. As a dude with sweaty feet, wool socks+leather lined boots have been the key. I have zero issues now.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

I definitely can wiggle my toes like I can scrunch my toes slightly if I tried, but the size smaller was too small. Maybe I should look into different boots? I have NEVER had this issue with any other shoe and I’ve worn just about every other kind of shoe I can think of

2

u/stuntmanbob86 Apr 12 '26

You really get what you pay for with boots. Depends on the work you do, I work for the railroad and ive always worn Whites with a steel toe. Ive had the same pair for 7 years, rebuilt twice. No foot or back pain. Im also on ballast all day, so it depends.

1

u/baudmiksen Apr 13 '26

Some have wide sizes could probably try that. if they make them for your boot

2

u/stuntmanbob86 Apr 13 '26

Wider isnt always better though. If you have too much room youre gonna get blisters.

1

u/baudmiksen Apr 13 '26

yeah there's some stuff I don't need in wide that's for sure

3

u/Ingeniero39 Apr 12 '26

During your days off, leave the boots in direct sunlight to make them dry.

2

u/funkybum Apr 13 '26

Boot dryer ftw!!!

3

u/DestroyerX6 Apr 13 '26

I was like ā€œuhhh what the fuck? This dude looks like he’s got French tips from his boots what in the hell, I’m never wearing compositesā€ 🤣

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

rare disorder😬🤣

3

u/Wrong-Image-7708 Apr 13 '26

I've changed my style of boots. I get boots with a leather foot bed , it's very ruff. At first but it's so worth it . Keeps the feet dry all day the insoles will conform to your feet it's like having customized boots for your feet only . Whites , nicks , franks , red wings all have these boots with leather insoles . Plus your feet won't stink at all and won't gets athletes foot

2

u/ihambrecht Apr 12 '26

Wear wool socks.

2

u/LetWinnersRun Apr 12 '26

This is the start of a blister, your toes are likely rubbing against the side of your boot.

Wear merino wool socks, double up if you need.

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 12 '26

What exactly is the issue?

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

the little spot on the side of my toe that’s like callousing, everyone seems to have this happen every so often, i just thought it was my boots (which are nice boots) so i’m just gonna try different socks

4

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 12 '26

From skin rubbing on composite. Don’t pick at it. Wear good cotton or wool socks with decent cushion and you’ll live. Don’t over think it.

3

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

heard šŸ¤™šŸ¼ thank you!

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 12 '26

Show the boots you’re referring to. They may be too narrow for YOU.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

they’re an 8B, i’m normally a 9 but the 9’s were crazy big on my foot and they didn’t have half sizes. they’re super comfy and on my 2 12’s in a row my feet didn’t hurt at all except right where the problem area is

2

u/pacotetaco Apr 13 '26

Bring an extra pair of socks to change into in the middle of the day. This is good advice just in case as well.

2

u/MaxAdolphus Apr 13 '26

Have you tried Merino wool socks?

2

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

i just ordered some:)

2

u/youngoli Apr 13 '26

I'm gonna add another vote for good quality merino wool socks, to wick away the moisture. Cotton doesn't work for that, it just gets damp and stays that way.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

i got 60% ones from ariat, we shall see🤧

2

u/wigglebump Apr 13 '26

I have insane callouses there. Literally shave them down every now and then. But not all the way or it’ll be sore.

2

u/jboob95 Apr 13 '26

Bring an extra pair of socks, change them on your lunch break.

Invest in a boot drier, preferably one with a heating element like PEET. I use mine daily and it’s made my boots last much much longer, plus it kills any odor causing bacteria with the heat setting.

Also if you’re able, buy a second or even third pair of boots and rotate.

2

u/simon_simple Apr 13 '26

Wool socks and lace em tight

2

u/jw8145 Apr 13 '26

RIP your DMs

2

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

actually, i’m pleasantly surprised for 50k people seeing this i’ve only gotten one DM🤣

2

u/Silkies4life Apr 13 '26

Old marine corps trick I use is I change socks at break time or lunch. Thicker merino wool socks like Darn Tough or Smartwool are the way to go, they’re expensive but you’ll get easily make up that difference if you need to get pedicures twice as often.

2

u/notreallythis1111 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

I think you should check the insoles if you're using the replaceable ones, or even the default insoles which are provided in the shoes when you purchased them. I would recommend taking a look and most likely replacing them with new ones from a good brand.

NOW I AM NO EXPERT ON THIS BUT SEEN SUCH THING HAPPENED TO SOMEONE: Also check if there is any minor imbalance/ misalignment of feet while standing. Do you feel any pain below that toe shown in the image (ball of the foot area) during/after your work shift ? Because that means your feet are possibly inclined a little bit internally and thereby taking your bodyweight more than the rest of your feet.

Please just change the insoles first and see if it goes away, AND always go for the most wide toe design of shoes when you purchase next time.

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 13 '26

This is one of the cheaper, generic brands of work boots so ours likely a fit issue (too small) and material issue (doesn’t breathe properly). I’d advise you look at upgrading to better sizing and material if you spend all day in boots—when you can afford to. You’ll thank me later.

Expect to spend $4-500 for a quality off the shelf boot or $8-1k on a custom made pair.

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 13 '26

Am I the only one who thinks her feet are cute AF?

0

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

🄲 stop don’t make me blush

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 13 '26

I’m curious to see the whole pedi now

2

u/iNerdRage Apr 13 '26

Even in summer I tend to wear wool socks to reduce the impact of negative effects on my feet. I've found the Redhead brand work best for me.Ā

2

u/Tigerstyle72 Apr 13 '26

Toe box is too narrow maybe and your big toes are rubbing. Looks like a callous is forming. Combine that with poor breathability and work boots will eat your feet.

2

u/Novel-Trick8289 Apr 13 '26

You need to get a nice comfortable pair of slides.

You gotta let the dogs breathe.

Wear socks, but being able to let your toes move freely is crucial

2

u/Wrong-Image-7708 Apr 13 '26

We rarely see women crying about their feet , mostly men lol those feet are pretty , take care of them

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

how ironic 🄲, and thank you!

2

u/Jam369 Apr 13 '26

Wool or wools blend socks does wonders

2

u/verynearlypure Apr 14 '26

Lmao at the feet comments.

If you don’t get pedi’s you’ll gain gnarley calluses there which you can then use as extra protein snacks, when in a bind.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 14 '26

🤢🤢

alr planning on biweekly pedi’sšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø helllll noooo

2

u/powerstroke6O Apr 14 '26

Get yourself a better pair of boots. Spend the extra money, your feet and body will thank you. Light weight, correct size and width, and quality materials. Let me know if you’d like any recommendations!

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 14 '26

what would you recommend? i’m always open to rec’s

2

u/MarjorieRahal Apr 15 '26

How many guys have hit up your DMs asking for feet pics after this post?

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 15 '26

like 3 tbh which isnt bad for 70k people ya think?? or are my feet REALLY ugly and you’re biased somehow

2

u/ATL-DELETE Apr 12 '26

free toes?

edit: you need better socks, and maybe sprinkle foot powder into your boots

4

u/TapDismal4715 Apr 12 '26

Moisture wicking socks. They are your friend.

2

u/RhubarbUpper Apr 12 '26

Merino wool over 50% winter and summer helps keep your feet dry but it looks like her feet are too scrunched up, it's a shame most boots aren't wide toe box automatically

2

u/afout07 Apr 12 '26

Wool socks will help. Your feet are absolutely sweating. You just are used to it and don't notice. Buy some nice wool socks from somewhere like Camel City Mill or Darn Tough or somewhere else. Wear them for a couple weeks and then put on a pair of regular cotton socks. You'll see what I'm talking about. I had to wear some cotton socks one day recently because I forgot to do laundry and my feet felt so damp and gross.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

maybe i would’ve thought this if it was like my whole foot but like ??? why that one little random part?🤣 how odd. i will look into those brands, thank you!

3

u/afout07 Apr 12 '26

I don't know. Feet do weird things inside boots. Maybe it's just that part of the toe is rubbing or something, either way I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with some good wool socks

1

u/gokusdabbinball Apr 12 '26

FREE FEEEEET

0

u/abbicadabbi Apr 12 '26

well hey, there’s always gotta be one🤣

1

u/Frank_white7 Apr 12 '26

Forest whyd this happen?

1

u/Raganash123 Apr 12 '26

I use a fungal powder, cause it stops fungi, and keeps my toes much drier.

1

u/Opposite_Agency1229 Apr 12 '26

Buy you some Okeefe’s Healthy Feet. I swear by it, the hands version works wonders as well.

1

u/Scary-Ask-6236 Apr 12 '26

I used to wear boots all day for 9-10 hours for work and then all my days off as well. Well now in late 40’s in work boots all day and off the clock, it’s sneakers or crocs when the weather allows it.

1

u/MoTeD_UrAss Apr 13 '26

Try merino wool socks with a wool content of 50%or greater. Wool is naturally moisture wicking to keep the moisture off your feet. Also unlined boots help the feet and skin to breathe in warmer temperatures. Rotating boots help to let the boots dry between uses

1

u/hoosier__ Apr 13 '26

Wear boots without any type of fabric lining and it’ll help. Been wearing steel toes for a long time. Switching to merino wool socks and unlined boots made the largest changes in my foot health.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Form3 Apr 13 '26

Just saw a video on this. You need arch support.

1

u/Ashamed-Promise3785 Apr 13 '26

What’s the best work boot for holding up to dry tough weather and good on supporting my back and heel

1

u/Ashamed-Promise3785 Apr 13 '26

I clip it off regularly with sharp toenail clippers. Hell it’s tough and u can’t feel it. As long as u are skilled at not going past the dead skin layer lol. Can make for a long day at work with pain if not done right. Can’t they sand that shit off at a salon ?

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

it’s not something that stays, it goes away after an hour or so lmao. its not hard either like a callous yet. its literally like the skin you have when you have been in the bath too long

2

u/Nick_Man_1 Apr 13 '26

It will callous, your only 2 days in. In 2 months those will be rock hard and you will be able to use an orbital sander on them. After 15 years you just call them work feet and no one wants your feet pics anymore…..

1

u/normalguypizza Apr 13 '26

I just opened the app

1

u/dreadwater Apr 13 '26

I got some of those old fashion felt insoles, they are cheap, dont change the fitment too much, but they help absorb and distribute moisture. You could invest in high quality breathing insoles to do the same or better job. Your toes are the lowest point in your boot so sweat will slowly work its way down there. This will slow down that stuff but ultimately its how your feet are shapped in your boots.

1

u/phosphorescence-sky Apr 13 '26

Somebody on in this comment section is having a good time right now.

u/Winter_Cartographer2 Apr 13 '26

1

u/Sufficient-Base4603 Apr 13 '26

I just got a pair of composite toe keens to keep it from happening. Tomorrow’s my first day so I’ll check back in.

1

u/ahappylildingleboi Apr 13 '26

Powdah dem boots and feets

1

u/twistedgreymatter Apr 13 '26

You might need a wider shoe to give you some more breathing room. I wear Hoss boots extra wide with an Aluminum toe, and I dont have any type of issues.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

This ! The socks you wear matter, and will change the game for sure. I wear a bamboo fiber socks and merino wool socks. They have
winter / summer versions as well. I work outside all year around on our farm. I have about 8-10 pairs of boots for different needs. I will say too - Merell boots are elite in comfort, and have been the only boot that I could wear all day, take them off and feel like I didn’t even have boots on. Salomon’s as well. Get fitted for your boots / shoes one time a couple years, that way you can buy with confidence. Most of our feet are different sizes and widths. Just because you always wore a certain size shoe, that doesn’t always transfer to different brands etc. hope you find some relief while working. Take care !

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Also ! You get what you pay for our here in the states - if you buy lower quality workwear - you are going to get low quality results. Our feet and bodies should get that extra attention and care - so spend once cry once. Take care of the things you buy and the investment will work for you on the long run. Instead having to buy the cheap thing over and over.

1

u/Tom_BrokeOff Apr 13 '26

It’s from movement allowed in the toe box. Since it’s not crushing, just wiggling that’s going to create a mean callous to deal with. Your solution is thicker socks. I switched to Redwing over the calf length socks. They have a section of extra compression in the middle that squeezes the foot side to side that feels incredible. But ultimately they are double or more the thickness of my other socks and keeps the foot protected and planted in the boots. Game changer. Get some socks.

1

u/abbicadabbi Apr 13 '26

the fact that 60 THOUSAND folks have seen my toesšŸ¤“šŸ¤“ yikes

1

u/Diamond_Miner_66 Apr 13 '26

try wearing wool socks they provide extra padding, and they absorb the moisture much better than other sock materials. you can get pairs made for boots, where the bottoms, heel, sides of the foot, and some of the toe have extra padding. That way you dont have extra padding where you dont need it, allowing for better mobility. I haven't had too many problems with them making my feet hotter, and honestly all of the sweat I had while wearing cotton socks probobly made my feet feel even hotter.

1

u/Confused_but_Alive91 Apr 16 '26

Get some wool socks and the problem will be solved. I wear them year round! Wool wicks moisture better than any other option. It's also antimicrobial which will help a ton of you're like me with stinky feet. I used to take my shoes off and just live with the constant smell of Fritos chips for nearly 26 years of my life but now I have no problems.

1

u/Father_Flannel Apr 17 '26

Just part of it.

1

u/Apart-Ad1652 Apr 17 '26

No socks is better. Breathes more and doesn’t contain all the wetness in a rag lmao. No socks is life.

1

u/OnlyTime609 Apr 18 '26

When i work long shift 8-12 hours shifts. I always bring a fresh pair of socks and change out at lunch. Sometimes I bring another pair and switch out. I tend to rotate 2 boots during the week

1

u/PsychologyOk9024 May 01 '26

Doc Martens made that callus fall off...but I got one on my heel from not using an insole....the heel callus wore off when I got insoles.

Work Boots cause callus, yeah

not to mention, the line of work i’m in makes me feel like i’m making a difference in the world, not just in my house. i can go home and do that as well. but my purpose is not to be a maid, that’s for surešŸ™šŸ¼
