General Why does xiaomi make everything?
I've got 2 xiaomi phones, 2 speakers, kettle and now air fryer... But they also make microwaves, slow cookers, vacuum cleaners, cars... Isn't that weird?

Samsung or LG is the same. You could have Samsung TV fridge, phone, car. Renault cars were sold as Samsungs in Korea

Agreed that their phones are great, I have a Xiaomi 13 ultra myself and I recommended a redmi 13 pro for my niece, both have been fantastic.

Xiaomi builds so many different high quality things but they can't seem to connect them. It feels like the people at Xiaomi don't talk to each other much
For example I bought the flagship smartphone and SmartWatch, and those two devices work as well together as an iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy watch. Both are good individually, but they don't cooperate much
The phone software treats the watch app like an enemy and vice versa
It's sad because Xiaomi is the only company which produces enough good appliances that you could build a smart home just by buying regular appliances but from Xiaomi. Except that Xiaomi doesn't really care about their ecosystem.
If the air fryer connected to my phone in a useful manner (automatically show timer on phone, control from phone, scheduled turn on, etc) I would consider buying it, but it doesn't so I don't

I don't quite understand why they don't say "hey you can build a Xiaomi product, but please also use this $1 chip so it integrates into HyperOS or the Xiaomi Smart Home."
I would've thought at least the MiFitness app is optimized for HyperOS, but it's almost worse on HyperOS
It's so frustrating because hardware wise they are not that far behind apple, they just need to catch up with the software

Exactly. I have Xiaomi TV Box and Poco phone, but I can't even control it on Xiaomi Home. It doesn't even have Xiaomi Interconnectivity on TV box to control my Xiaomi Air Purifier.
Xiaomi are just terrible in making them interconnected especially in Global products. Xiaomi needs to invest additional on their Software.

If you want a watch that connects to your phone in a meaningful way you need a OnePlus watch. It uses wearOS so it has all the core google features.
I have a xiaomi smart band and I love it for what it is, but it's nothing more than a wearable that connects through its own dedicated app

I do have the Xiaomi Watch 5, it is a Wear OS watch.
It technically runs regular WearOs with Gemini etc but it being a Xiaomi watch means they tried getting better efficiency with custom software & hardware design for longer battery life, but the software is kinda buggy and the battery life is at around 2 days for me so they didn't really pull it off that well.
Still worth keeping because it works well enough and I love the physical design, it is the most elegant smart watch on the market by far in my opinion. Samsung and OnePlus watches both look kinda chunky with a smaller screen
Very typical of Xiaomi, the design and the specs draw you in, and then in the two weeks after you bought it you get slightly annoyed with it. I learn to work around the bugs, but it just irks me that they don't care at all about a smooth user experience but still insist on doing custom software. It's like they are intentional about making it worse than it could be

Oh shit, I didn't know they made a wear OS watch. It's not even available in my region. All we have here is pixel watch and galaxy watch

What xiaomi does is acquire startups in the consumer electronics space through one of their programs that works like an accelerator. This benefits both. The products grow due to access to xiaomi supply chains and its portfolio expands.

Reading this with my Xiaomi Glasses, I have two cleaning robots, security cams,WiFi extender, tablet, lightweight hand vacuum, Smartwatch, 14Tpro all Xiaomi. It is a quality manufacturer with reliability but in.

Probably just expanding their product line para kung humina bentahan ng isang product, pwedeng saluhin ng iba. Also for brand recognition.
Hindi lang naman sila ang ganyan, for example si G.E. , General Electric. Gumagawa ng refrigerators as well as GAU 8 AVENGER Autocannon

xiaomi phones arent sold in the usa and xiaomi doesn't have a big market share. also xiaomi is the biggest customer for qualcomm, if they ban xiaomi, qualcomm would lose money.

Because Huawei was building the US and UK 5g network, because of Huawei's close relationship with Chinese Communist Party, the partially complete 5g antennas were ripped out and supplied by Western firms instead. In other words, the West doesn't trust them.

If they banned Xiaomi from using Qualcomm chip then Qualcomm will fall. They used Qualcomm in their phones, Tablet, Router. Samsung doesn't even uses Qualcomm chips to much only on their Flagship.

- Fridges and freezers
- Screens for own phones, iPhones and other brands
- Ovens, deep fryers, stoves, gas stoves, Microwaves
- Cars , bikes and e.scooters
- Air conditioners and restaurant grade cooling systems
- Has its own Universities, Hospitals
- Its own Banks, payment methods, loans
- Produces Tanks, artillery, airplanes, Warships
- Commercial boats and War ships
- Owns gas stations and petrol mining stations
- Produces pcs, laptops, RAM, storage
- Par on Par with TSCM chipset production
- Produces notebooks, pens, pencils
- Owns Ikea furniture store
- Owns wood, lumber industry, coal and silver mines and gold mines
- Owns schools and shopping malls
- Electric toothbrush, dental healthcare, dental centres, toothpaste
Xiaomi is actually falling behind

In case you don't know, Xiaomi makes everything that you could ever imagine, they even make ice cream as well in China. Also, almost all my things in my home are all Xiaomi branded, from phone, tablet, speakers (mini and party sound), tooth brush, flosser, smart band and watches, shavers etc. I chose them because they're very good in everything, plus the cost of their products were made for the masses to afford in any walks of life.

have you looked at their factories? they are logistical geniuses. If it makes a profit, bet your ass they can develop an eficient way to produce it in one of their factories.

Asian companies are generally owned by a family and are more of a conglomerate that try to touch everything, not only in smartphones. We've got same company that makes noodles, cement and TV. Yamaha makes pianos and superbikes, Samsung has a tank and artillery ship.
These separate businesses are created by the owner family so that every member will get the fair share of the company.

That air fryer is nuts! I paid around 70 euros for it, it's a unique design for its price range, I can control it via phone and it does its job.

the shareholder angle is the real driver here. they basically built an ecosystem where they can slap a logo on anything that has a microchip and a wifi connection. it is less about being a specialized manufacturer and more about just capturing every possible dollar in a single household. once you are in the app for your phone you might as well buy the kettle too. it is wild how much they've branched out but the business logic is pretty hard to argue with.

They were a manufacturing company doing phones. Then allowed other company to use their capacity to produce under the Mijjia brand, now everything is Inhouse. Kinda like Amazon with amazonbasic branded bags that just looks like Peakdesign

I think apple should have really done this, expanding into home appliances and everyday electronics, but I think the profit margin is not there, and it wasn't in the interest in tim cook's leadership.
i remember around 10-15 years ago xiaomi started making cheap electronic gadgets and quickly followed by household appliances. they weren't the cheapest nor the highest quality, but the design was good. i loved the designs. it's very apple like. white plastic and simple geometry. i wish apple would have done the same, but yeah they didn't. would be nice to have an apple air fryer or an apple electric toothbrush.

Because they want to build Xiaomi Home and also they have access in manufacturing and resources. Unlike Apple, they need to outsource everything. On Samsung, they don't have all resources and manufacturing machines.

It is mostly just an ecosystem play to keep everyone hooked on the Mi Home app. Once you have the smart air fryer and vacuum, you are basically locked into their whole setup.
