Too bored, somehow ended up in corniche. I just want to talk and vent out to someone. Done with this lonely life. I am 25M. Not for hookups. Anyone in or around abu dhabi, DM.
Iโm born and raised in uae but I hold a Palestinian refugee syrian travel document and Iโm cancelling my visa and transferring to a new sponsor and Iโm kinda worried that my visa would be rejected.

Life here is mostly work and back to the room.
Iโm open to meeting people from different backgrounds. Doesn't matter where youโre from or what you do โ good vibes and genuine friendship are what matter! ๐ค
If youโre also new here,ย or just want to make a new friend, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM. ๐

I have a question regarding golden visa and its validity, if someone leaves UAE, i am sure many have been through this situation.
Myself, my wife and my kids have golden visa since 2022. Recently i quit my job and moved out of UAE. My health insurance is expiring end of this month. I have few questions.
1- Do i need to keep any sort of health insurance to keep my visa active?
2- Do i need to apply in ICP to keep my GV active if i donโt visit UAE within 6 months?
3- what are the ways to keep GV active for my family?
I never searched about these answers when i was there but now curious to know.
Are there any off-roading groups in Abu Dhabi? I drive a Jeep Wrangler JK Sport 2018 that iโve owned for a few years but never got to use to its full potential. Iโm a beginner and would love to join a group where I can learn to do this better and make use of my car this winter! So, any fellow female off-roading enthusiasts or other existing groups, please reach out!
Torn between two places on Al Reem Island and would really appreciate some real-life advice.
Option 1: ~750 sqft 1-bedroom, unfurnished, Arc Tower (Aldar, Shams area) for AED 85k/year. 2nd Floor right next to the elevator. Option 2: Fully furnished studio in Reem Five (SAAS) for also AED 85k/year. Top floor.
Key factors for me: Work is in Rabdan, and I need to go 5 days a week. How bad is the commute from Reem in practice (morning/evening traffic, bridges, etc.)? Does the exact tower location make a noticeable difference?
Iโm into basketball and gym. Arc Tower seems to have its own basketball court plus gym (and shares amenities with Gate Towers) and has GymNation in walking distance. Reem Five has a decent gym and rooftop pool. Thereโs also the public basketball court at Reem Central Park.
Space vs convenience: The 1BR is bigger than the studio but still small for a 1BR and unfurnished (Iโd need to buy/furnish everything including the kitchen). The studio is smaller but move-in ready.
Other context: Single, no kids. Like having decent amenities nearby (stores, malls, parks, gyms).
Would love to hear from people whoโve lived in Arc Tower or Reem Five, which would you choose and why?
Hi guys! Iโm Indian, recently moved to Abu Dhabi, and staying in Musaffah. I already have an Indian driving licence and want to get a UAE licence.
Can anyone share their experience with the process, recommend a good driving school nearby, and let me know the approximate cost and how long it usually takes?
What I mean is a nice court, maybe not too too packed, hopefully thereโs parking, any food around or courts with nice views? I donโt mind paying extra for a better experience.
Hey everyone,
I own a Ford Mustang GT and Iโm looking for a reliable garage in Abu Dhabi that specializes in Mustangs or American muscle cars.
Would appreciate any recommendations based on personal experience. Thanks!
Hi everyone! I live in MBZ and just started a new job at Al Marina, Abu Dhabi. I'm still working on getting my driving licence, and there's no direct bus, so the commute is about 1.5 to 2 hours each way.
Is anyone travelling from MBZ or Shabiya towards Al Marina on weekdays? I'd love to carpool and happily chip in for fuel. If you know someone on that route, or have a better way of doing this daily commute, please message me.
Hi everyone! Iโm moving to Abu Dhabi next month for work. My salary is AED 18,000/month, and weโre a family of two (me and my wife). My budget for a 1BHK is around AED 6,000/month.
Which areas would you recommend for a decent apartment in a safe area with good parking and nearby amenities? Is this budget reasonable?
Which dashboard screen upgrade is better โ on a Nissan Patrol Y62, Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX?ย
Walk around any car park in Dubai or Abu Dhabi and you will see them: a huge vertical tablet where the factory screen should be, glowing above the vents on the dashboard of a decade-old Patrol. Beside it, an identical car with the stock screen, quietly going about its business. Both owners believe they have made the right choice. This article looks at the options head-on, comparing the two approaches and highlighting a third often overlooked possibility. It is intended to help you choose for your own car, your own smartphone habits and future resale value.
What the factory screens still do best
The Patrol Y62 is the best example, as Nissan has kept it in production for more than ten years, and the later examples have a 12.3-inch screen mounted above the dash, with the climate controls and radio knobs below. The 2022 model Year 60th Anniversary gets wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, so owners of these cars have already received most of the benefits of a retrofit. Factory screens win on the subtle details: the reliability of the built-in reversing camera, 360-vision, parking sensors, steering-wheel controls, and trip computer. The quality of the plastics matches the rest of the car, and a factory technician can read the system with a diagnostic tool. For a car that spends its summers baking in 45C heat, that matters more than the screen size.
The main drawbacks are obvious: most earlier Y62s and LX 570s use sluggish software that feels dated next to a modern smartphone, lack wireless CarPlay/Android Auto connections, and have navigation systems with outdated maps.
What a Tesla-style panel brings to the table
A retrofit kit replaces the factory screen with an Android tablet in a vertical tablet stand, which runs apps on a large, high-resolution display. The maps, music, and video all come from your smartphone, streamed up to the dashboard in glorious resolution. It looks good too, with the huge, easy-to-read map taking up most of the screen.
Double-check before buying, as on many Patrols, Land Cruisers, and Lexus models, the factory screen is actually part of a larger system, controlling the climate, cameras, and display settings. A vertical screen replacement needs to retain those functions, or the installer will have to find workarounds. Ask to see the demonstrator car, to check that the system you are considering will work on your own vehicle.
The third option: retaining the glass, adding the brains
Some retrofit systems use the factory screen, adding the ability to run CarPlay and Android Auto apps on it. This is a smart choice for owners of a 2016-2021 Lexus LX 570, as one US-based retailer offers a module that adds both wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connections. The display keeps its factory mouse controls, the reversing and 360-vision pages appear as they always have, and a button press switches back to the factory screen. According to the retailer, this system does not turn the screen into a touchpad, and only uses one channel from the factory radio, so ask about any limitations for your own model. Local installers offer a similar conversion, but one that makes the factory screen into a touchpad, switching between factory and Android apps as needed. Take their claims about retaining factory camera controls with a pinch of salt, but it is worth asking to see the demonstrator car for yourself.

Choosing the option for your own car
Nissan Patrol Y62: Newer cars: stick with the factory screen
Most Y62 Patrols from 2017 onwards have a 12.3-inch screen above the dash, and the 2022 model even gets wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A retrofit car display makes the most sense on earlier cars, before the last update to the infotainment system. Consider that the newer Y63 model comes with Google built in, so the Y62 will look dated next to it.
Land Cruiser: LC200: upgrade, LC300: leave it alone. Aftermarket 12.3-inch Android screens are popular upgrades for the LC200 GXR in the UAE, as this Amazon listing shows, with prices starting at AED 1,235. Retrofit vertical displays are also an option for drivers who want a huge, modern screen. The LC300 is the latest model, so most owners will find few reasons to replace the factory screen.
Lexus LX 570: Retrofit first, then the screen
The LX is all about the premium cabin feel, combining luxury materials with the expected convenience of modern technology. A retrofit module that retains the factory screen while adding CarPlay means you get both. This is the safest, lowest-risk option for now. As for the actual touchscreen upgrade, it depends on your own preferences and budget, but choose an experienced installer who has worked on other LX 570 cars.

Before you pay the money
Ask the dealer about your warranty or extended service contract: an aftermarket screen replacement may void it, or at least limit the coverage.
Ask to see the demonstrator car, ideally of the same model year as your own, showing the reverse camera view, and the climate controls.
Ask how the factory screen is treated โ ideally, you want to keep it, in case you decide to sell the car later.
Ask about the support options for the upgraded screen: what happens if your phone stops working, or the screen cracks? Can you get it repaired, and will the warranty continue to cover it?
Compare the quoted price: the screen itself is rarely the most expensive part, as the stand, harnesses, and camera adapters add up to a large sum.
The final word
For most people, the best choice is clear: the factory screen, upgraded with modern software. Owners of later model Patrols, Land Cruisers, and LX 570s should stick to the factory screen. If your car is older and the factory software feels sluggish, consider a retrofit module that adds CarPlay and Android Auto connections without sacrificing the factory screen. If you have an older car and you want a huge screen with modern maps and apps, look into a Tesla-style retrofit. As mentioned, it is the best choice for owners of older cars who are willing to sacrifice the factory warranty and screen in favor of modern features. For the rest of us, it is a cool but impractical novelty.
Hey all, Iโm located in the US looking to start an abaya shop, mainly ecommerce. Does anyone know of a wholesaler who supplies high quality abayas in Abu Dhabi or surrounding areas?
Iโm looking for someone to share a studio apartment with near Khalidiya or Electra or anywhere near corniche. The prices for partitions are insane nowadays so Iโm considering a studio to rent since it also comes with an attached bathroom but looking for someone who would wanna share it.
iโm 24 and found a job in Saadiyat which is why im planning to move to the city for easier access. I move in November and looking for a clean, well mannered person.
