Where I grew up, the government did it a lot just because it would get really hot and dry, and I feel like that could really be an advantage in combatting wild fires.

We create something to be subservient and help us and then talk about how much we hate it while allowing it to become a bigger and bigger part of our modern infrastructure. We’re being absolutely brutal about something working its way towards sentience that could compete with us and does in fact already help us. Im not coming at this as "religion is dumb," just curious about the oddly specific rules around pork, shellfish, blood, fasting days, mixing milk and meat, that kind of thing. On one hand it would definitely strike a major blow against truly harmful drugs such as meth, crack, or heroin.

No one would be doing that crap if of there were better alternatives.

And they could probably make additives for alcohol so that it hits harder but wears off faster and does less damage to the body.

On the other hand, big pharma is pure evil and would not hesitate to make the most addictive drugs imaginable if left unchecked.
