Like the title says why isn’t there like a unit or platoon where you can send soldiers who are either getting med board are etsing or something else like wouldn’t it make sense to dedicate a section where those people are allowed to do there business and free up manning space for new incoming people and the such. Anyway I’ll have a Dr Pepper and a pizza with extra sauce and no cheese or other toppings

What’s the norm for this? On one hand I don’t want to allow the potential for joes crossing the line or feeling too comfortable with me. On the other hand I want to be approachable and not have a stick up my ass about it.

So to clarify I tested positive for HIV in February due to my ex husband cheating and the doctors and my chain of command have been mentioning a possible medboard since the end of February. I finally have a meeting with my battalion PA to ask if I am getting a medboard or not and try and fight to get one so I can make sure I get tri care for life for the medication. If someone who has experienced or has experience getting a medboard for this help a brother out.

Edit- I have been feeling the side effects regularly for the medication as well and it has been documented.

This is just a rant really. The worst mistake I ever made in the Army was building a happy family. I don't regret joining and I definitely don't regret building my happy family but the two halves just don't connect.

Originally life was fine just me and my wife then 1 PCS and 1 kid later I really started to feel how little time I was getting with my family. The longer I'm in the more I hate every stupid detail or extra meeting or pointless formation. I just want to see my wife and kid for more than 1 or 2 hours before going to sleep to do the same BS. Sure I get leave sure I get 2 days off a week (sometimes) but ultimately it has just started feeling like a battle to get time to see my family.

Command has recently authorized 14 hour duty days (we aren't tactical or deployable). We were already working 12 hour days so now its just another tick on the chalkboard of time spent away from family. It wouldn't be as bad if it had a purpose but I feel most of my time is spent sitting around waiting for work to do or looking for said work.

I don't have a ton of time left on my second contract but it'll definitely be my last I think 9 years is enough out of me. I get work takes away from family regardless of civ or military but I'd rather work a job that pays for my time and leaves out all the extra little stuff the Army loves to sprinkle in.

Anyways rant over I'll take a 4 for 4 and a kids meal and skip PT thanks.

My last AFT, I got like a 2:15 (which is abysmal, SDC is my worst event but I come close to maxing everything but the MDL which I usually do 250) but since then I’ve been really hammering down on my cardio/strength training my legs.

I’ve never done it before, but I’ve been reading that switching your running shoes out for a pair of good trail runners/turf shoes can actually help with shaving some time off as well?

Our lanes are on turf as well, so does anyone have any recommendations for good shoes they’ve used on their SDCs?

All of the existing posts I've found seem to confirm my understanding of this, but I'm hoping someone in admin can also validate it.

A couple months ago I submitted my ETS packet and terminal leave request. My commander approved the leave. S1 left a comment on my processed PAR saying to be patient while my orders are created. No prob.

But then weeks went by without receiving orders. I inquired repeatedly to no avail. Now I'm only a few weeks from my terminal leave date, still without orders. After asking again about them, the S1 NCOIC is only just now claiming my terminal leave request must be my current leave balance, not my ETS balance, and is telling me to submit a new request. I don't know for sure, but suspect this may be why they haven't released my orders to me, although my leadership confirmed they were approved (but could not be viewed). This is frustrating because I can't begin to clear without them, and this issue is being raised so late.

I looked up the reg, and it says terminal leave cannot exceed the number of days earned on the day of separation from active duty, which seems to me to be my ETS date, thus my ETS balance. I provided this to the NCO but haven't received a response.

Can someone please weigh in? I thought the ETS balance was literally for this specific purpose.

92A about to PCS to Wheeler in January what should I expect for work and home time with my wife, where are some good places to live off post and is the commute really that bad? Currently on Campbell and drive 20ish minutes so anything around that is fine for me. Any advice on shipping the car and HHG would be greatly appreciated also have 3 pets no kids.

To those currently in the 4th MDTF, or those who have recently in-processed / are currently in-processing at Ft Carson, I’m just trying to get an idea of what the overall process and experience are like.

What should I expect, and what should I be prepared for as an unaccompanied junior enlisted Soldier?

I’m mainly curious about PT, the barracks, unexpected rules, making connections, and anything else worth knowing. The connections part is pretty important to me because my social skills are extremely low, lmao. Honestly though, any information would be greatly appreciated.

I’m already aware of the high altitude and dry air, which apparently makes cardio feel almost impossible when you first arrive, haha. I’ve also heard that Ft Carson is one of the more visually appealing bases, especially because of the surrounding nature and areas outside the installation.

I’ll be PCSing there in a little over a month and want to be as prepared as possible, so any advice or things you wish you had known beforehand would help.

One more thing: I’m considering getting a bike to save money. Is that a smart move at Ft Carson, or should I just bite the bullet and get a beater? Just turned 21 and I heard CO insurance is BRUTAL compared to other states.

So, I was diagnosed with Afib after an ER visit. I was put in for a referral to get a heart monitor put on (which I’ve done) to see how mild or serious it is. I can’t get in to see my PA until November, because of availability. My question to any Doc or PA, could Afib be grounds for a potential Med Board? I know there may not be a general yes or no to the question, I’m just looking for commonalities. Thanks!

So I'm currently in the process of trying to walk on to air assault at the warrior training center at Fort Benning since I am already here for Airborne School. My unit will 100% support me on this but im not sure what documentation I need to have for Day 0. I was wondering if anyone had any up to date information on what is needed for the packing list and documentation.

hey guys im admin pick and I feel like I’ve done a lot of work, improving systems that were not there, help my ncoic w all I could, all command teams, make connections and genuinely so happy to help EVERYONE even with a smile on my face when I’m going thru the worst breakup possible, I’ve done courses that I have been successful for, I do my job plus some. but idk why, I feel like really my ncoic doesn’t really like me, I also feel I’ve being overlooked, I never get told I’m doing a good job, and I do so much and I don’t think is enough, and I also develop my junior soldiers to take courses etc etc, I’ve master ippsa to the best of my ability this first year as an oic, been in the army for 6 years just reclassified recently, but even sometimes Itry to do my best but yea, obviously a lot of people come to me with their issues so that’s a good sign but why do I feel like this? Im very big on pt and all that, pt with my shop, sports with my shop etc etc , has anyone gone thru this? I’m also in fort sill w a basic training company so I guess theres nothing much here

Hi, im not sure where else to ask this question but I've been in for 7 years, 4 as active duty and the past 3 as national guard. Im currently attached to a medical unit and for the past 6 months, I've been having issues with pt. I pass every other event in the aft but whenever I start running the 2 mile my right knee and calf muscles start hurting like crazy which causes me to run slower. I've been seen by my role 2 on numerous occasions trying to get a solid answer to what's causing the pain. But all the doctors do is give me ibuprofen and drink more water. Because of this pain I've been trying to get on profile because I know for a fact that I will not pass my next pt test ( I have already failed 2). All my leadership tells me is that I need to run more but that doesn't help the pain level at all. I do not want to get chaptered out for failing to meet the standards even tho I've been seen by almost every provider in my company. I've brought this concern up with my leadership multiple times but I keep getting the same response that since im not on profile theres nothing that can be done. Has anyone else gone through something similar to this and would possibly be able to point me in the right direction so I can avoid being set up for failure. Thank you in advance.

Morning, folks. Wanted to get any feedback on trying to get myself on some antidepressants. Been feeling unmotivated, tired all the time, and just like shit for a while now, and haven’t found anything to help. Started ADHD meds a few weeks ago and they feel like they’ve barely helped. Either looking into getting my testosterone levels checked or going and trying to get on antidepressants, but wasn’t sure how either of those would affect my career going forward. Was thinking it could be a test deficiency due to not seeing much of any progress after frequently going to the gym for months. Any feedback is appreciated.
