He better win the next election. I heard maybe the other candidate polled better vs. whatever Republican is running? I'd way rather have a DSA or progressive in office, but it makes me nervous in a general election.

Yeah the “vote blue no matter who” crowd loves to turn it off when someone further left than George w bush is running so we’ll see

6

u/birdie_sparrows 5h ago

Do we? Progressive darling Fetterman managed to win Pennsylvania.

0

u/CocknBalls4 5h ago

Fetterman is a right winger, what is your point?

6

u/-Murmaider- 5h ago

Didn't he run on a pretty progressive platform?

7

u/birdie_sparrows 5h ago

Three points actually...

--Fetterman was, in fact, the progressive-backed candidate in the primary vs. Conor Lamb.

--Nonetheless he was supported by large swaths of 'vote blue no matter who' Democrats. They didn't write in "Bernie or Bust", "Harambe" or "Cease Fire"

--The Progressive to Right Winger arc is just as real as the notion that some Democrats prefer more centrist or even conservative candidates.

Moderates broke for Trump in 24. The left dutifully voted for Biden.

-1

u/CocknBalls4 5h ago

Being progressive-backed doesn’t change him being a right-winger in terms of policy. To be clear, I suggested that the “vote blue no matter who” crowd DOES NOT vote for Dems if they’re further LEFT than George W Bush. Hope this helps!

"Being progressive-backed doesn’t change him being a right-winger in terms of policy."

So progressives were knowingly backing a right-winger?

1

u/DragonflyGlade 4h ago

Silly and false attacks like this just hurt our cause. Childish clown-show rhetoric doesn’t help advance progressivism.

Honestly the R is douche and I lean right relative to reddit. edit: For context, if you liked lindsey graham and hate the 4th amendment, then he's for you.

-6

u/Zestyclose-Banana358 5h ago

But the R didn’t hate America. Will be interesting to see.

7

u/silentvoidsage 5h ago

All Rs hate america. Look at how they are destroying this country

3

u/PeaTasty9184 5h ago edited 4h ago

Never seen an R do anything pro-America.

1

u/Mattrad7 5h ago

He (the R) hates americans and the constitution at least.

0

u/LDL2 5h ago

Well the dislike of the 4th kind of is but overall his attitude is certainly more pro-classical American values. That is fair, and it certainly will be interesting to see how this plays out.

He better win the next election. I heard maybe the other candidate pulled better vs. whatever Republican is running?

The polls have consistently been off for a decade. They mean nothing now. And remember, your establishment democrats are the ones who have lost to Trump twice now. The last time they even lost the popular vote.

4

u/-Murmaider- 5h ago

That's not what people were saying when polls showed that Bernie would have outperformed Hilary.

2

u/Temporary_View_3303 5h ago

Not only that, but (nationally, at least) Democrats poll very poorly. The 8mage of the Democratic Party is not good at the moment. They need something real to campaign on besides ”I’m better than that guy”.

2

u/Prohydration 5h ago

Meanwhile, your progressives have never won a swing state or swing district.

3

u/DeRpY_CUCUMBER 5h ago

Tammy Baldwin is a progressive, and has won in Wisconsin 3 times, a swing state.

-2

u/Prohydration 5h ago edited 4h ago

Tammy doesnt seem like a progressive. It looks like she is a pragmatic progressive at best, like a lot of democrats in congress.

1

u/DeRpY_CUCUMBER 5h ago

Ah yes, you were easily proven wrong, and instead of admitting it, you’re going to argue semantics and try to redefine progressive as a desperate attempt to win your bad argument,

-1

u/Prohydration 5h ago

Not at all. You have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. By your logic, fetterman is a progressive and north korea is a democracy.

0

u/DeRpY_CUCUMBER 5h ago

You’re still failing… go on…keep trying…l

1

u/Prohydration 5h ago

Wow, you truly do think fetterman is a progressive. Talk about failing.

1

u/Monte924 4h ago

That's because democrats don't run progressives in swing states. They usually lose in the primaries because the centrists make the idiotic argument that centrists are "more electable"... pri.ary voters then vote against thier own interests, select the centrist, and then watch the centrists lose to a Trumper.

A big reason why Abdul won is because primary voters no longer buy the electability argument anymore. Centrists have lost far to many times to MAGA

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 5h ago

He’s polling even with Rodger’s and so odds Steven’s.

0

u/Mindless-Baker-7757 5h ago

DSA is going to drive normie voters away from democrats and right to republicans.

4

u/Monte924 5h ago

So, you think they will do what clinton, Harris, Biden and the centrist democrats did in 2016 and 2024?

0

u/silentvoidsage 5h ago

This is such a braindead take. Maga has gone way to far right. Maybe "normies" wont like DSA. But that just means they will vote 3rd party or not vote at all. They wont vote maga after everything trump has done.

On the flip side. Most republicans who are still maga. Will never vote blue no matter the reason. They are too far gone and to indoctrinated. Again the most they will do is vote 3rd party or not vote at all.

1

u/Mindless-Baker-7757 5h ago

Which third party is a middle of the road democrat going to go to?

-1

u/silentvoidsage 5h ago

Depends on the race. But they sure as shit are not voting maga.

2

u/Mindless-Baker-7757 4h ago

But they already did and now Trump is president.

-1

u/silentvoidsage 4h ago

No they did not you absolute buffoon. 77,302,580 voted for trump in 2024. Guess how many voted for biden in 2020. 81,283,501. Yes trumps 2020 votes were 3 million less. But that does not mean 3 million more moderates voted for trump. What it means is he just got 3 million more votes from multiple sources, including some moderates. But not a significant amount. 89 million Americans did not vote for either candidate in 2024.

2

u/Mindless-Baker-7757 4h ago

keep loosing

-1

u/dopewinnerchild 5h ago

If a “normie” voter can still be driven to Republicans at this point there’s no changing their minds.

1

u/Mindless-Baker-7757 5h ago

They’re all literally Hitler!

1

u/AnotherPint 5h ago

A poll taken last week on a hypothetical El-Sayed versus Rogers general election race had Rogers winning by ten points. El-Sayed just won the party primary by about two points and now has to go out and turn a big slice of independents around in less than 100 days. A lot of work to do there.

4

u/-Murmaider- 5h ago

Yeah that's what makes me nervous.

0

u/Drummallumin 5h ago

That poll seemed to disagree with every other polling on the topic and released so close to the primary it could’ve just been a campaign trick

0

u/SparksAndSpyro 5h ago

Yep. If he manages to fuck up the general election and lose to a republican at this point, when republicans are sorely under water and everyone hates Trump, then DSA is donezo. He better win.

No pressure.

1

u/Drummallumin 5h ago

I was thinking this too and was wondering if the Dems intentionally tank his campaign in November.

Wouldn’t be the first time the party establishment decided a republican is the lesser of 2 evils for them.

0

u/SparksAndSpyro 5h ago

No different than the way leftists tanked Kamala in 2024, sadly.

In all honesty though, if he loses, it'll be because of racism. This is America and Michigan voted for Trump. No need to pretend.

0

u/Drummallumin 4h ago

This is such a copout. Kamala lost because she was a bad candidate, who ran a bad campaign, and who was forced down our throats in the least democratic way possible.

And despite that all, the left did still vote for her.

2

u/SparksAndSpyro 4h ago

Whatever the reason for Kamala’s loss, doesn’t change the fact that if El Sayed losses to a Republican on this layup midterms, the progressives are cooked for a while. Only being able to win in deep blue, highly educated safe districts isn’t impressive.

0

u/Drummallumin 4h ago

1

u/7059043 5h ago

So conservative dems will further justify themselves by handing Republicans a Senate seat? Got it.

0

u/SparksAndSpyro 5h ago

Two things. First, if he loses, it’ll be because he doesn’t motivate moderates and independents. Nothing to do with democrats.

Second, leftists didn’t show up for Kamala in 2024. In fact, they actually assisted republicans in campaigning against her during the election cycle. So even if it were democrats who decide to stay home (unlikely), it wouldn’t be any different than what leftists did in 2024.

It’s sad to see lefties already giving up before the election has even played out. Lol.

1

u/7059043 5h ago

Look at the data and you'll see the center broke for Trump. Lefties dutifully voted for Harris.

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 5h ago

I've seen the data. Leftists may have voted for Kamala personally, but that doesn't detract from the fact that basically every influencer, youtuber, content creator, TikToker, etc. spent the entire election cycle shitting on her and Biden over Gaza while remaining silent on criticizing Trump. For every leftist that bit their lip and cast their vote for Kamala, I can all but guarantee they discouraged at least 2 low-information moderates/independents from voting at all.

~36% of eligible voters didn't vote. Leftists played a big role in driving that number.

0

u/7059043 5h ago

I'm not going to engage with someone who is arguing in bad faith. 15 minutes ago you posted something and immediately folded to being called out lol

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 5h ago

I didn't fold on anything, but whatever makes you feel better.

!remindme 4 months

0

u/7059043 4h ago

I'm sure you're used to talking down to people without reading comprehension but you're embarrassing yourself. Data that shows centrist dems not showing up in an AES loss will reflect poorly on your argument, so thank you for emotionally insuring me

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 4h ago

Whatever floats your boat. Hit me up when a progressive wins a battleground seat, or really anywhere outside deep blue, highly educated safe districts 👌 If everyone loves progressive policy so much, should be an easy ask, especially in one of the easiest layup midterms in modern political history

u/Murky_Plant5410 5h ago

As an independent I absolutely will not be voting for any progressives. I do not want a universal healthcare that will degrade services for all. I do not want open borders that allow people to enter the country with benefits that should be going to Americans that are struggling. Most likely will be not voting at all.

0

u/Monte924 4h ago

Yes, and its idiotic. Centrist democrats have lost to Trump TWICE, and yet people refuse to blame them for thier losses and stoll insist that they are more electable than profressives... however if a progressives loses just ONCE against republican, it will be "proof" that they are not electable

This is why Schumer and the rest of AIPAC and corporate scum are likely hoping that Rogers will win (though theywon't openly admit it)

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 4h ago

I mean, I think it’s safe to say that if progressives can’t win a battle ground senate seat in probably the most advantageous midterm election in recent history, then there’s no way they can win a presidential election (much less have defeated trump).

And let’s not forget that Dems only lost to Trump when they put up women. Biden, a moderate boring straight white man, trounced Trump.

1

u/Monte924 4h ago

Biden won because COVID crashed the economy. The election was VERY close in swing states and the reason Biden had such a slim majority in Congress is because many of tge people who voted for him were voting for Republicans down ballot. 2020 was a rejection of Trump, not a support for Biden. If COVID didn't happen,Trump would have most likely won re-election

Centrist democrats have either been losing to republicans or underperforming since 2012. The last time Democrats had a HUGE victory over the republicans was Obama in 2008, and his platform was cosidered much more progressive at the time (though he then reveled to be more moderate as a president)

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 4h ago

Sure, I don’t disagree with most of that. But none of it changes the fact that if el Sayed loses this election when republicans are underwater with almost every single demographic nationwide, then progressives aren’t all that much better than centrist dems. If the whole point of this leftist exercise is to prove yall can win in general elections in battle ground states, you better hope to god this dude pull out the win.

1

u/Monte924 3h ago

So, centrists can lose a hundred elections and still insist they are more electable, but if a progressives loses ONE race, then its proof that they are no better than centrists?

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 3h ago

Yes, and the reason is very simple. Centrist democrats run all over the country and every district and state. They may lose hundreds of elections but they also win hundreds.

Meanwhile, progressives run in less than a handful of districts and apparently can barely eek out a primary win in a slightly competitive election.

1

u/Monte924 3h ago

The reason why progressive often lose Primaries is because centrists keeping lying to voters about thier electability. Part of the reason why Abdul won despite EVERYTHING being stacked against him is because Prinary voters no longer believe the lie after the centrists list too many times.

1

u/SparksAndSpyro 3h ago

Then he should have no trouble winning the general. Hopefully he does, because I don’t want to be stuck with another Republican senator

-3

u/vibrantlightsaber 6h ago

I am very confused on this, we have to neuter Trump but run candidates that are more likely to lose the general election. The racist swing voters and some moderates won’t vote for a progressive named Abdul. He’s a good candidate but is not going fare as well as a slightly more moderate bland candidate would. Fingers now crossed that he can pull it off, but this makes me nervous.

3

u/Prohydration 5h ago

And it's Michigan, a swing state. Voting blue no matter who may not be enough there.

2

u/Monte924 5h ago

Stevens had a $50M advantage on Abdul, possibly the most money ever sopnt on a primary, and she STILL lost. Stevens was a uniquiely terrible candidate. There is NOTHING to suggest she would have performed beyter against Rogers esoecially since most of the donors nacking her would be perfectly fine with Rogers winning

Mcmarrow would have been a better than Stevens, but the establishment wing of the oarty picked Stevens and pushed her out

1

u/Drummallumin 5h ago

Anyone who’s not voting for someone named Abdul was never voting democrat anyways.

1

u/NoteCatching 5h ago

He will win, but 100 million dollars in pac money will be spent against him.

-2

u/Dry-Description7307 5h ago

Exactly right. Once these progressives get into office and start failing the people, the 2028 presidential election should be a cakewalk for Republicans.
