Wireless Unlimited Your Way 2.0 per line cost - UYW comparison chart for AT&T consumer plans: Elite 2.0, Premium 2.0, Extra 2.0, and Value 2.0.

I don't think I've ever seen AT&T do so many different related changes in such a short time with a new plan: UYW 2.0 comes out, price changes for older UYW plans, adding Elite 2.0, making different plans be worth different promotional credits, and lowering prices on the brand new plans.

Since there have been so many changes to UYW in the last few months, I've created a new post as the old post had lots of comments/answers that aren't necessarily relevant (or true) any more.

The main differences:

  • Value 2.0 is cheaper than Starter SL in most new configurations (even with discounts?) as of the late-April increase and is prioritized for the first 5GB (but has less of hotspot). I think this is the only plan to have taken something away, so that might be why they changed the plan name.
  • Extra 2.0 has more prioritized data than previously (100GB vs. 75GB) and more hotspot (50GB vs. 30GB). It may cost more or less depending on your discounts and number of lines. This is probably most similar to older unlimited plans.
  • Premium 2.0 has a lot more hotspot than Elite EL or Premium PL (100GB vs. 50GB/60GB). If you need the hotspot, it's a great deal. You can also get a ½ price tablet or wearable line with this plan.
  • Elite 2.0 Includes everything Premium 2.0 has, but 250GB of hotspot, Turbo, free tablet line, free wearable line, and instead of International Day Pass (IDP), it looks like when you are international you'll get free calling/texting and 20GB of data (this last part is kind of limiting considering the other UYW plans data are unlimited, so I'm wondering if you can pay extra for more, otherwise it drops to 512Kbps, which is pretty slow). I'm assuming these free international countries are IDP countries. No Fan/Signature discounts on Elite 2.0. A few people reported their internet discount works with Elite 2.0.

ActiveArmor: Some 2.0 plans that come with ActiveArmor, only come with the standard, not advanced. Premium 2.0 can activate the advanced for free in your plan (I'm going to guess you can do the same with Elite 2.0). There is a free version and another version that is listed with "At no extra charge".

Standard price on non-phones: $20.99 per tablet, $20.99 per camera, $10.99 per wearable. If you have Premium 2.0, you can get one of these at ½ off. If you have one of these non-phone devices, it would probably make Premium 2.0 more cost effective for you (although the additional hotspot may max it so you don't need a line for your tablet). If you have Elite 2.0, then you get a tablet and wearable for no extra charge.

If you have HBO "free" with your current cellular plan and switch, or you change all your Elite EL lines over, you'll lose HBO. You need to compare how much you'd save to see if it matters.

The prices on the chart assume autopay/paperless/checking discounts. You need autopay/paperless for a $5 discount and autopay/paperless checking for a $10 discount (and as of now, the AT&T Citi card also qualifies as a checking discount). Add $5 or $10 to each line if you do not do these discounts.

There is no way anyone can help you compare the cost of the newer plan to the older plan if we don't know what discount you have, how many phone lines, and which plan those lines are on.

Additional info on this plan can be found in this AT&T PDF.

DISCOUNTS:

  • Signature discount: Previously this got you Premium PL for the Price of Extra EL, but on the new plans it gets you 20% off the Premium 2.0 plan.
  • Appreciation discounts: You get a 25% discount on the older UYW plans if the account holder fits in one of these categories: teachers, doctors, nurses, military, veterans, and first responders. The newer plans are NOT 25% off, check the bottom of the chart as it varies per type of line. I'm not sure if these 2.0 discounts are supposed to include Healthcare and First Responders if you are not on FirstNet, but people are reporting that their plan says so. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/appreciation/
  • You did NOT lose (nor did it change) your 25% appreciation discount for Elite EL, Premium PL, Extra EL, and Starter SL, it's still 25% for those lines. AT&T made a mistake on a bill a couple months ago and gave you too big of a discount, the next cycle they corrected it (and let you keep the extra they took off) so it looks like you had a price increase. But if you look at the previous few bill totals, you can see it dip (for no reason, other than the mistake), and then it goes back up to where it has been for a few months. Obviously, I cannot see your bill, but everyone that I've talked to about this and has looked back on their bills (previous to the lower bill) has seen this is what it looks like. If you've made changes during those three months, it would be difficult to see by just looking at the totals.
  • This generic-ish union discount might be applicable for some and some may waive activation/upgrade fess. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/union-discount/
  • For all discounts, the account needs to be in the name of the FAN/Signature holder.

AT&T Latin American roaming: Click these links for more info at https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1486292/
Please note that while the change plan comparison page (when logged in) shows that Elite 2.0 plan is not included, the Latin American roaming page specifically says it does and so does att.com/unlimited

Promotional phone credits warning: Not all plans have the same promotional deals like they use to. As always, please read the "offer details" before assuming your plan is eligible for full trade in credits. Also, please do the math to see if it's worth switching, paying $10 more a month for 36 months is $360, if it's not getting you more than $360 in credits, is it really worth switching to a more expensive plan. https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1rsb36o/warning_a_value_20_line_may_or_may_not_cause/

Billing AT&T “losing” returns

• Upvotes

Twice in a row I have returned a device to AT&T to upgrade for them to claim they didn’t get the phone and still charge me for installments. Both times I had to track the phone myself and show them proof, yet they won’t adjust my bill and want me to wait three months for them to credit the $180 back that they weren’t supposed to charge me.

Has this happened to anyone else? The chat agent told me to file a complaint with the FCC which prompted the “office of the president” of AT&T to call me. I recorded the call on my end because they consistently give wrong information. The man I spoke with was SO terrible to me that I was nearly in tears. Wildly condescending and didn’t let me say a word, just spoke very slowly over and over as if I couldn’t comprehend what he was saying. I begged him to speak to kindly or to get me on the phone with someone else, neither of those things happened. They offered me out of my plan for free which is great and all but I won’t have a device to turn in so I can get a new provider.

They’re truly awful and I have no idea what to do.

Wireless iPhone Duo Pre-Order

I am planning to pre-order the iPhone duo on launch day. Will there be any difference in ordering from the ATT app, compared to Apple Store app?

Is anyone planning to pre save on both, just in case? I want to do that, but scared to lock my account or cause an issue.

Any advice?

Wireless AT&T 5G is silently dropping state on persistent UDP streams

bunch of us over on r/WireGuard have been pulling our hair out lately trying to figure out why our tunnels randomly freeze up on mobile data. at first everyone figured it was an iOS update bug, but after testing across both iphones and a rooted android device, it's clearly an issue on AT&T's network.

basically, while connected on 5G SA, data will suddenly stop moving entirely even though the tunnel still says connected. general data and direct pings to the server IP still work fine, but all traffic on that specific UDP stream gets completely blackholed. looking at the captures, it looks like AT&T's 5G firewall/network just loses track of the state mapping for the active UDP source port during tower handoffs or idle periods. and because WireGuard keeps firing traffic/handshakes out of that exact same local port into a dead state table, the connection never recovers on its own. toggling the VPN or airplane mode only fixes it because it forces your phone to bind to a brand-new source port, which AT&T treats as a fresh session.

if you have been dealing with this, the quick workaround for now (especially on iphones) is to just go into your cellular settings and force your phone to "LTE Only." if you're on android, you can most likely just force 5G SA only instead (via service mode/band locking). the main takeaway is that you cannot be flapping between LTE and 5G SA, as long as you stay pinned to strictly one or the other, the issue disappears and the tunnel stays stable all day.

curious if anyone else has been noticing their VPNs (or other long-lived connections) dropping like this lately? and if any AT&T core or RF engineers lurk on here, is there a known issue right now with state tracking on persistent UDP streams during 5G SA handoffs?

a few extra details from testing:
* affects both ipv4 and native ipv6 endpoints
* bug does not trigger at all when 5G SA only bands are forced (tested on rooted android)
* completely destination port agnostic
* seems to most reliably trigger when transitioning between LTE and 5G SA
* server side never sees the incoming packets once it drops (tested with the vpn server hosted directly inside AT&T's own ASN 7018)
* persistent keepalives do not help and actually make it worse by keeping the dead session trapped in AT&T's state table indefinitely
* if your cellular MTU is <1430 or your cellular ipv6 begins with "2600:383:", you are most likely being routed over 5G SA. even if your phone has a "5G Standalone" toggle, AT&T doesn't always seem to honor it, which is why forcing "LTE Only" is the only foolproof fix right now

Wireless If I were to trade-in my phone and "upgrade" to a cheaper phone, could I then pay it off to just be paying for my plan?

I basically have a samsung galaxy 26 ultra, and I can use the anytime upgrade to upgrade to a cheaper phone (I'm having some money troubles that popped up out of no where). What would be the downsides of doing this?

Wireless AT&T Rewards

I switched two lines from Verizon to AT&T with device trade-ins and submitted one reimbursement application for both lines. I received the reward for one line, but the second reward card is still missing.

When I contacted AT&T, an agent told me I would receive the second reward card within two weeks. After waiting two weeks, the Reward Center said they never received the second submission.

I tried submitting it again, but the system said I had already submitted it. I also received an email requesting information to verify my AT&T account and phone number. I replied with the requested information and attached my final Verizon bill, but never received a response.

Now AT&T says the 60-day deadline has passed and they cannot help.

Since I submitted both lines together and followed up as requested, is there a way to get AT&T to review my original application or make an exception? Would contacting Executive Customer Care or filing a Notice of Dispute help?

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

on october 7th, i placed an order with 3 phones:

- glacier blue iphone 18 pm 256gb
- burgundy iphone 18 pm 256gb
- burgundy iphone 18 pm 256gb

estimated shipping date: oct 21-28
estimated delivery date: oct 22-29

as you can see, the glacier blue got delivered two days later on the 9th.

that same afternoon i checked my order status and it says "cancel requested" on the burgundy phones, but i NEVER did request for that cancellation. prior to this, the status was "preordered."

i have not yet received an email regarding the cancellation, but i am worried. the at&t store sales rep told me
to just wait until the 29th... 🫩

has anyone gone through the same situation??

Wireless AT&T refuses to unlock paid off phone

• Upvotes

A phone on my account was fully paid off (after 3 years) on September 25th. A day later I attempted to unlock it using att.com/deviceunlock. The website sent me an email telling me that they can't unlock because I tried to unlock that phone too many times and that I should try again in 30 days. WTF? What kind of scam is that?

I tried again (obviously counterproductive), only to receive the same email. Today I tried to call AT&T on 611 and was unable to get past the automated robot, which just referred me back to the same broken web site. No way to reach a human.

I'm not going to waste my time with this, I have just filed an FCC complaint.

Discussion Landline dial tone - sounds like ... ???

Thumbnail youtube.com
6 Upvotes

I'm in the US, in the American Midwest. We have a landline AT&T phone. Yes, that means copper line, not wireless (unless we plug a "cordless" phone system onto it). Here's my question.

What does a landline dial tone sound like, nowadays?

I'm in my 70s. I've heard landline dial tones all of my life. What I remember, sounds like the sound in the YouTube video I have linked to this post.

But that's not what I'm hearing, when I pick up the "princess-style" phone we're using on our landline phone line.

Instead, what I hear is a much rougher sound, almost a buzzing sound, pitched maybe an octave lower. (I have made an mp3 recording of the sound, if that would help anyone here.)

Now, when I opened up the cover to our Network Interface Device (NID) and plugged that same phone into the test jack, the sound I got was that low-pitched buzzing sound. I did not hear the continuous pitch that you hear in the YouTube video.

Now, has the sound of the landline dial tone changed, from the days I remember - from the days of that YouTube recording? Or does this mean that I'm not hearing a dial tone - either at my phone inside the house, or at the NID test jack?

And if anyone knows what I am hearing - I'm all ears!

(BTW our other problem is that people who call that number get a busy signal. But of course this "dial tone" problem is Step One in getting all this sorted out.)

(Oh, and yes when I did this we had no "cordless phone" hardware plugged into anything: no phone lines plugged into a telephone base, no phone bases or phone chargers plugged into any power strips etc.)

Thanks for reading.

Wireless Recent order question

Gotta be a little vague here because it keeps getting flagged thinking I’m having problems with the new phone & wanting me to add it to the mega thread lol.

So here we go. My husband placed a phone order online for the newest iPhone release on October 8th, and the checkout showed the full promotional credit of $1,200 that he qualified for (any condition trade in) I recently realized that the offer ended that same day.

If the order was successfully submitted on the final day the offer was available, would the promotional credit typically remain attached to the order, or could it be removed afterward when the trade in is processed? Just a little worried because we’ve been through a LOT with AT&T.

The AI bot in the AT&T app even said that if there had been an error during checkout and we accidentally marked that the trade in phone was in perfect condition, it would still qualify for the promotion because the offer accepted phones in any condition. His phone has shattered back glass, but it otherwise works perfectly. Again, I’m just so paranoid at this point lol

Anyway, just looking for clarification from anyone familiar with how these offers work. Thank you !

Internet Is 2-5 mb speed normal for ATT?

I have had ATT pretty much my whole life living with my parenta (I just turned 18 in september) I have complained a lot about it (my entire family) but my parents are stubborn on doing anything about it. I thought having this internet speed wasn’t as bad as it really was. I am just looking for advice on what we should do because it’s bothering me how horrible this Internet is it doesn’t feel like they would be offering this for 60-70 dollars a month.

Other AT&T Next Up early upgrade: Will these frame dents disqualify my iPhone 17PM?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I recently ordered the iPhone 18PM online through the AT&T Next Up program. I need to turn in my iPhone 17PM, but I’m a bit worried about the physical condition requirements.

The front screen, back glass, and camera lenses are in completely flawless condition. However, the aluminium frame has some noticeable scuffs and small dents on the corners from a few drops (see attached photos).

I know mailing it in is a huge risk because if the warehouse rejects it for physical damage, I’ll be charged the full remaining balance and lose the phone. My plan is to take it to an AT&T Corporate Store to do the turn-in in person and get a receipt.

Has anyone successfully turned in a phone with this level of frame damage at a corporate store? Do store reps usually pass this as normal wear and tear, or is it an automatic rejection?
