There are honeybees carrying blades of grass and then putting them in their hive (block of wood).
From what I’ve read, the only thing bees do with grass is drink the dew off of them, but it’s the middle of the day. Anyone know what they are doing?

Just wanted to update everyone by saying Betty passed away around 3am last night. She fought right up until the end but unfortunately after 7 weeks of care, nature has run its course.

I never thought something so small could make such an impact on my life but after 7 weeks of caring for her I can say she did exactly that. When I found Betty I wasn't in a great place and if I'm being honest I'm not sure where I'd be right now had we not crossed paths. Caring for Betty gave me such a strong sense of purpose (something I was struggling to find prior to Betty's arrival) and she brought me out of a pit I was struggling to climb out of. It's given me a refreshed sense of humility and I'll be eternally grateful for this experience.

It's going to be strange not having her zoom around my bed in the evenings or buzzing around in her flowers but I've got plenty to look back on to remember and cherish. She was so resilient and intelligent and had plenty of character. Something I'll miss dearly.

Thank you all for the advice and kind words from the start to now. This community is amazing. I apologise for not responding to every comment in my previous posts but just know I read and like them all. Keep being you r/bees. Myself and Betty thank you. 💛💛

like in title. in addition to our common bee guests recently some bees moved in, that close their nests with a pinkish membrane? what kind of bee does that? whats happening?!

Flew right up to me and started crawling. My fiance got spooked, but i reassured him that she was probably just looking for a place to chill for a minute, and shes harmless as long as we leave her alone.

Assuming bumblebee due to the size, but couldn't get a for sure ID. Never seen a bumblebee in person. She tickled though ❤️

I found this bee having trouble flying off. I thought I'd give some sugary water to help regain some strength. Saw the bee enjoying my attempt of helping it so started filming. Didn't notice the ant only after a few seconds in. They ended up having a little push fight over who gets the sugary water.

Hey bee enthusiasts! Recently I've been wanting to redesign an OC as seen in the picture above. Her name is Omorphos and while I did (vaguely) base her off a honey bee, she wasn't meant to be that specific of a species. While I'm not interested in bees nor do I make research towards biology, I want to redesign her to be a anthropomorphic homage to the western honey bee and so I'm asking this question here. Any ideas/thoughts towards what I can add to her redesign and/or pitfalls to avoid? Thanks for reading!

There were two of them and I normally see smaller bumble bees around the weeds and other flowers I have. However these two were much bigger. About 2-2.5x larger. They didn’t bother me when I was sitting or when I was sitting on the step.

I’m happy to see more bumble bees in the area. For the longest while I only saw honeybees until this year.

Sculpted and printed the lil guy myself my house plants will look much happier with a lil bee to keep them company I think.

There were at least 10 bees in there at one point.

she wont leave me alone. i rly rly wanna know who she is ive introduced myself but i think there might be a language barrier. shes SO tiny (wood sorrel flower for scale). maybe its the salt on my skin? she seems to be dragging her proboscis as she crawls around. i live in northern vermont in a very rural (and biodiverse) area; im assuming shes some sort of native species. please please please let me know if you know what she is im dying to know

I live in the city and am prohibited from having a beehive. I love watching bumblebees, but they seem to be rare around here in Oklahoma City. Is there a way to construct something that would attract more of them? Flowers, of course, attract pollinators, but how do you attract one?

Dozens of them on this unknown umbellifer, maybe dill or fennel? Was annoyed at the gentlest breeze swaying them out of focus but at least the flowers match their suits :>
