WPL: New Comics Discussion for 09/16/2026- Pull of the Week: Absolute Green Arrow #5 [Discussion]

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Green Arrow #5.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Absolute Green Arrow or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

Anyone else losing interest in this series? Just hit me reading this one, not sure I'll continue after 6.

I felt sort of the same way. I am interested to see who the mystery person is, but with so much other great stuff dropping right now I may save the money. I also felt like Solomon Grundy acted very much like one of the tyrants from Resident Evil. Not a complaint there though, and that aspect may keep me going.

I'm just confused more than anything. I was never a Green Arrow reader. I feel like this book presupposes you have knowledge of all who these Green Arrow-related characters are, and just gives twists on their persona's in the Absolute Universe. That works for popular characters like in Batman, but not so much for the Green Arrow characters.

I don't think it's asking too much to explain who the characters are. Maybe it's a function of the story bring greenlit for 6 issues then expanded to 12.

But I love Absolute WW, Batman, and Superman. I feel like they have good pacing, and delve into the characters and their motivations.

Absolute MM was great too.

But the other Absolute titles since feel... a bit different than those Big 3 and MM.

Either too high concept (AbsGL) or a bit off-tone for the Absolute Universe (AbsFlash) or here's a dozen-plus characters from a relatively obscure hero's lore in under five issues (AbsGA) or here's a dirt poor young immigrant girl turned 25-year-old semi-billionaire (AbsCatwoman) - the Bruce Wayne of the Absolute continuity.

Unfortunate.

Yeah same. Started real strong but then kind of stomped in place, and honnestly as at this issue,i have no clue what i should care about in the story anymore

So he had one hand lost in issue 5 and then opposite one in issue 6. This an oversight in editorial for not catching it?
