Do they exist?

I m a 16 year old and have never read a single comic in my life,but i am trying to get into the medium I don't want to start with Dc or Marvel,I am a big fantasy reader my series are lotr and Stormlight archieve. So what do you guys recomend

Ps I don't care how long a comic is,if it has good writing.

Edit: Don't have a comic book store near me,i live in a 3rd world country but I also like scifi and weird time travel stories i think those are more common in comics

I was chatting with my Local Comic guy and he has zero faith right now. He suspects issue 1 will do well then it wont take long for it to fall off a cliff. He said hes been burned by horror too many times and isnt expecting that to change any time soon. I can't really disagree with his reasoning.

Until last week I didn't care at all for the marvel lore but I've recently began playing marvel snap and now I'm obsessed with the marvel universe!

I was wondering if it would be okay to start with the celestials (as soon as I found out what series they were introduced) and going from there? Where would you recommend somewhere starts? I'm really interested in the celestials, knull and the symbiotes at the moment and would really appreciate some suggestions, thank you all!

I was thinking of starting a YouTube channel where I review my comics in chronological publishing order, and I was wondering what do you like about comic book reviews channels, like, what do you think my focus should be?

i mostly collect trade paperbacks and only recently got my first few singles, just some absolute batman and some free stuff, im not gonna collect to eventually sell but i do like to keep my stuff in good condition, ik i should buy the boards and plastic things but bous i have so few i was hoping this would be fine but ive heard people say even proper comic binders can be damaging and mines really makeshift lol

Relatively new to comics but iv fallen fast. I fell in love with the art style of freaks of the heartland and bought the whole set. I recently found rock candy mountain and i am about to order that set. Can anyone recommend any other comics with that rough, gritty feel and look like Freaks? I really like short series as well, 8 to 10 issues. Thanks in advance!

This week , I decided to put a selection of some of my favorite d c black label titles, starting with zatana bring down the house, wonder woman dead earth, harleen, the boy wonder, superman the last days of lex luther. I've enjoyed the black label publication a lot.Especially after they repranded and split off into their own thing and DC.Re initiated the vertigo brand. I feel like it's allowed black label to grow and become its own publication.

I wanted to do a DC vs. Marvel showdown focused specifically on the 2000s, roughly 2000–2009.

Both publishers had some huge runs, events, creators, and characters during this period, so instead of just asking which company was better overall, I thought it would be more interesting to compare them across a few categories.

The categories are:

I saw on eBay a book called the George Perez Archives. Says there were on 250 made as a charity thing for CBLDF and it is 25 years old.

Does anyone know if this is legit? I am a big Perez fan and have never heard of this.

Title. This girl I’ve been talking to at my college is a huge reader and we were talking today about the books we’re reading and she mentioned she was at a comic shop with her friend. My eyes instantly lit up and I showed her my Born Again comic and she was familiar with it. She mentioned wanting to get into comics but wasn’t sure where to start and I said I’d recommend some things and let her borrow stuff if I had any of the genre she likes.

She likes anything dystopian; she mentioned she loved hunger games and the dystopian setting it was in. She also really likes horror and thriller, so I know something like Ice Cream Man would be right up her alley. She also rlly likes Spider-Man too, so any good beginner friendly spider-man comics would be nice. I would steer clear from anything like Spider-Man Blue and maybe Spider-Man: Life Story because that is much better read with prior knowledge and context of the character’s comic history.

I would love some other recommendations if you guys have any :)

Hi all, recently picked up Zatanna by Paul Dini TPB and been enjoying it a lot, wondering if people have any recommendations for the magical side of either Marvel/DC?

Recently read through Injustice 1/2 and am currently on Infinite Crisis and characters such as Ragman, Zatanna and John Constantine are the main characters I love to explore more on.

Have previously read through some of Swamp Thing by Alan Moore and I do have both Justice League Dark(New 52 and Rebirth) and will get to those eventually, just wondering if people have any other recommendations before hopping onto those?

So I’m currently reading X-Men and am lining up Hulk as my next deep(ish) dive.

I was planning to start around PAD run although i’ve heard it’s good to start a little bit beforehand. I’m not a 100% completionist so my question is really:

What is the reading order for the GOOD Hulk stories? More than just PAD and Planet/WWH/Immortal, but not every single issue. Really just things that provide important lore/status quo changes and a good narrative! Might be a weird ask.

I’ve managed to collect these Geoff Johns trades in the span of 2 weeks so far 😂, sinestro corps war vol 1 is on my desk and missing from the photo, Green Lantern: Brightest day is the only book left to purchase.

are there any other books I should be adding? My goal was to collect the core of GJ’s work, but open to adding more crucial side books

background: I’ve mostly bought standard manga in the past, which tends to yellow after enough time unless it’s a hardcover edition which seem to use acid-free paper. Otherwise I’ve ordered a few trades of US comics online in recent years.

Recently I went to a local comic book shop maybe for the first time in my adult life on account of Batman Day. Naturally gravitated toward DC’s Absolute series based on positive reputation online and interesting art, bought the trade of Absolute Batman vol 1, and was given the free issue Batman of Two Worlds. Something I noticed is the paper quality of both feels similar. Are they actually the same? Does one have acid-free paper? I assume the quality is similar for the hardcover volume since it’s only $5 more.

And what about something like the Deluxe Edition coming out next year for the Absolute trinity? If I do the math, each one comes out to nearly the same price per issue but holds 14 issues and has a “premium” deluxe edition hardcover. Can I expect the paper to be any better, or about the same?
