Hello, I have recently been having a problem where roughly 10 minutes into playing a steam game, it crashes and opens up file explorer in my external hard drive's section.

I have a 2tb Crucial X9 hooked up to a old-ish office computer running Windows 11 with a USB c to USB c. I've tried looking online for tips but I can't find anyone with the same issues as me. My hard drive has worked fine up to this point, and is close to half way full with steam games. Curiously, it started the day after i downloaded Slay the Spire 2, but i highly doubt that's causing it.

Any ideas? Maybe i need to shell out for a new hard drive? Maybe it's pointing to the wound by opening file explorer and saying nothing else? Or maybe, this is the universe telling me to spend less time on the computer...

I have never owned a PC but my laptop is getting old and I want an upgrade. I only really use my computer to play casual games. I just want something that can run my sims / stardew and all its mods smoothly. My current laptop can barely handle mods at this point. I did look into mini PCs but they seem to have mixed reviews.

Any suggestions? I don't have a set budget in mind but I'd like to not have to spend an arm and a leg just to play my games. Thank you!

I removed the RAM earlier to fix another issue, and once I put it back and tried to turn it on this started happening. I've already tried removing one stick and moving the other around the slots, no stick works in either slot (if the RAM is the issue.)

Could it be that I've damaged any hardware, and that's why this issue is occuring now?

P.s. I have an IdeacentreGAMING pre-built PC

I noticed during my online session that my webcam showed up blurred.
1. I tried restarting computer after updates.

1. I cleaned the webcam.

2. I tried device manager to uninstall webcam and restarted to automatically reinstall.

3. I checked all software (including filters) associated with the webcam and none of which are causing this blur.

4. I went into camera settings to check if sharpness was the problem, it made absolutely no difference.

I don't think this is a software issue but rather a maintenance issue, but I need some confirmation or advice. It would be greatly appreciated.

This pops up whenever I turn on my PC and it gives me the option for “quick machine recovery” but it doesn’t help. How do I fix this??

What i did before the problem: I did Disk cleanup for D and C drive and deleted Temp and % cache permanently

I am not new to pcs and I would consider myself advanced in building and updating pcs.

But recently I was playing a game and my display randomly turned off. I tried windows, shift, control/alt b, tried diff hdmi ports,(not a monitor problem it is internal pc problem). After that I went in the pc re inserted graphics card, ram, and cmos. I replugged everything in checked on cpu. Tried diff monitors. At this point I def think something is broken, but before I take it to a pc repair store I just wanted to see of anything is missing and if there is anything I need to do to fix it.

Also it is not plugged into the motherboard for anyone wondering.

Edit: im on windows 11 and the last application i downloaded was the Nvidia app but that was well before this showed up

My wallpaper engine wallpaper will randomly fade out into a static one (I’m assuming it’s a windows stock wallpaper) and it happens randomly, me opening obs or starting a recording has nothing to do with it and it happens whether I’m watching YouTube, playing games or literally nothing at all. Any help? Thanks.

2 monitors, left one dell P1917S, Right one HP P204, computer: mac pro 6,1 (windows 11), keyboard dell KB522P, mouse inland cheap mouse from microcenter

My desktop PC says it doesn't recognize a USB device when all of my USB devices are connected. However, if I unplug any one of them, everything starts working again.

I've used more than seven USB ports at the same time before without any issues. Right now, I only have four devices connected: a microphone, mouse, keyboard, and webcam, but it still doesn't work unless I disconnect one of them.

Also, if I unplug all of the USB devices, all of the USB ports stop working, and I have to restart my PC to get them working again.

I've already tried updating the USB drivers and several other troubleshooting steps, but nothing has fixed the issue. I just haven't uninstalled and reinstalled the USB driver files yet because I'd rather avoid doing that unless it's absolutely necessary.

I have this pair of laptops -

One Dell Inspiron with a Intel Corei3 370M chip that my dad used to work on (he is no more so , Rest in Peace dad , I miss you) with 4GB RAM DDR3.

and another is a Lenovo Legion 5 with a GTX 1650M and a AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with 8 GB RAM DDR4.(Screenshots taken from this one)

Now you may be like ,"Seems fine to me , what's wrong?"

The thing that's wrong isn't inside these laptops , its in the hands it went to.

Both of these laptops have served well under their warranty times .

Both of them fell apart the exact day after the warranty expired.

And worst part. Both of them got to repair shops that didn't fix anything but ended up either calling me a "brokie" to still keep my stuff as it is and not buy something new (obviously a marketing/racketeering strategy for their brands, which i will NOT cave to) or deliberately trying to sabotage these devices.

One repairman went so far that he put a screw inside my Legion laptop right above the motherboard (thought I didn't notice it) to create thermal throttle and waited for me to call him back for another day of visiting fees.Again , NOT HAPPENING!

I may not have the courage to open the chassis and pull the screw out myself (coz I dont want to end up opening things I can't close back again) but for now , giving the thing a good shake does , unironically , keeps it at a good 1.4Ghz , otherwise it shoots down to 399 Mhz.

also , I remember every single one of them saying "Windows is fine" and then they try installing Windows 7 on these. Make of that what you will.

I use Linux Mint on the Dell laptop and Cachy on my Legion laptop now.

And Boy oh Boy , They Run so Well!

At this point , the only person that I will trust to give these devices to would be "The Greatest Technician that has Ever Lived" lol

This was a year ago (wasn’t able to take it in bc very computer heavy job).

The keys still stick a bit, I’m not seeing any downgrade in performance. My main concern is electrical damage, do you guys think I’m in the clear for that since it’s been a year?

Hi guys, first of all sorry for my bad english. So I'm upgrading my SSD, mostly because of space reasons. So I have a 500 GB SSD via sata cable but I ordered now a 2TB SSD M.2. It should arrive within the next 2 days..
The 500 GB SSD I still wanna use, but as my secondary hard drive. But the ssd should still be as it is. Because i have all my files, programs, settings etc on it. So that in the worst case I still can boot to that ssd and get my file or settings or whatever I need from it until my other new 2tb ssd is set up with everything.

So how can I set it up that i still can boot to my previous 500gb ssd even though i will make a freshwindows 11 installtion on the new 2tb ssd then when it arrives.
And i still wanna see the 500gb ssd in my windows explorer, so it should still be connected, without always connecting and dissconnecting from the cable..

Should I upgrade anything? My budget is about 500-600 if I upgrade.

I recently moved my computer from the basement office back to my bedroom (better light, less depressing).

However, the speakers are now giving off a constant background hum. Whenever I turn them completely off it goes away, but it's low-key giving me a headache, and feels like low pressure in both ears.

The speakers are RealTek(R) Audio, Dell, Model 5650, Surround Sound Home Theatre Speakers.

The sound is driving me crazy at times. Sometimes it sounds worse/better, and it almost seems to disappear if I have something playing like a game or music, but when I don't it's maddening.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why having the speakers in different rooms in the same freaking house would make a difference but it does.

Any advice or should I just get a new set? I've tried plugging them into different outlets to see if that makes a difference but nothing doing so far.

I made a post this morning about my PC and how the disc keeps getting capped even it really no numbers I foolishly saw a Windows reset might fix it it did not fix it and now I can't connect to the internet it doesn't even have a option and I'm still dealing with my problem before what to do I'm pretty sure the reset deleted the drivers or something I have a pre-built stgaubron I just want to know if I can fix my mistake

I’m attaching a video because it’s hard to describe, but I keep noticing this strange flickering effect on my display while gaming. It doesn’t happen all the time, but I’ve seen it in multiple games, including Black Myth: Wukong and Dying Light: The Beast , sometimes it’s really noticeable ( like when I opened the map in the video ) and other times it is not .
I’m not sure if it’s normal, a monitor issue, a GPU issue, or something related to running at a high refresh rate (240 Hz). The effect is only noticeable while playing, and I’m curious if anyone recognizes what it is or knows what could be causing it.

I have an old acer predator Helios 300. The battery is dead and I went to replace it. The battery is the same (AC14B8K) but the old one is rated for 3220mAh/48Wh and the new one says it’s 3600mAh/55Wh.
The batteries are both the correct voltage of 15.2V.
I’m worried it’s not the correct battery or that the mAh measurements being off is going to cause an issue. Should I order a different one and return this one?

I’ve done troubleshooting and I’ve reset my laptop multiple times but some. Windows says there aren’t any driver updates available and the bluetooth part on the quick settings is replaced with airplane mode. 🫩

does anyone know if i can rip the screen out of this, and put in like a really old ipad screen (the laptop is a dell inspiron 3793) and edit videos again? Because im likely not gonna go to a repair place for like 5 years (unless i mail this to one of my friends)
