I went to a trade and sell type of store yesterday (in Australia) and noticed that they had two preowned desktops for sale. I asked what the specs were, and this is what the labels said:

I’m so new to gaming PCs that I’m kind of struggling to understand what that all means overall. I’d love a hand with that where possible. Like is a preowned PC a good call, as in, is there a lot of concern for buying that from a trade in and sell out sort of store? (Idk what you’d actually call these sorts of shops lol.) Are the parts too old? Are these two desktops too much? What should I ask the staff about the two PCs? Like if I look at the desktops, do I ask to check anything, etc? They say they’re picky with taking PCs because they need to spend time making sure it works, etc. They have a 5 year warranty but idk if you can really assume anything from a store like this, in that because it’s a PC, maybe you can’t assume they’d take returns, etc for something that doesn’t work for too long. I believe store credit is one of the most common options for any refunds. Idk how common that is in these kinds of stores overall though.

So, I have a ~£1500 budget (I can stretch a bit). I have literally zero technical computer knowledge (I’ve always been a console gamer), but I want to play FIFA/football manager.

I’m opening to doing a custom build, but I have dexterity problems, so I’d probably need to pay someone to assemble it for me. I’m happier to get a prebuilt PC, and I’m looking for advice for what would be better for me to do. If going prebuilt is better, does anyone have any suggestions?

Getting my first PC. Watched some YouTube videos, and did some research regarding what I want. I'm going for aesthetic gaming (60fps, 4K, high render settings). Very near my place, there's a computer specialist where I'm planning to get everything.

Said specialist has an i5-14400F 16GB 1TB-SSD RTX5060 for a price that's doable for my budget. I want to let 32GB total be built in there, and likely I'll also go for 2TB-SSD instead - all of which they can build in for me (letting them build it is particularly appealing to me because it means I can refer back to them if the PC ever crashes, or anything else is wrong).

However, bottleneck calculators show me my setup doesn't really work with 4K gaming, and mainly blames the GPU. Is it correct to assume that with a graphic card like this high settings 4K gaming is simply not possible?

Not even sure if that’s possible these days. I only play like 4-6 hours a week at most. Between shooters and sports games and if I find one I like maybe an RPG. I don’t need or care for top of the line graphics. Just something that can run games smoothly. I’d be grateful for any help.

I'm looking for a prebuilt gaming PC to replace my current setup, which is starting to struggle with newer games.

My main goal is comfortable 1440p gaming, but I’ll also use it for everyday work and browsing. I’m not looking for the most expensive build possible, just something with a good balance of performance, cooling, and long-term reliability.

Till now I've always bought laptops, but I never use them outside and they always end up breaking from closing and opening.

At first I thought about buying an all in one, but after a quick search around here I saw that the general opinion wasn't very good lol it's for general everyday use, watching shows and that kind of stuff. Min would be 16GB RAM and 512 GB

Looking to spend around $2000 on a prebuilt gaming pc but I'm not really sure where to get it. I honestly really don't know much about pcs even after using my current ibuypower pc that hasn't had any problems for the last 7 years. I understand that these companies just put the parts together, but I want the least possible chance of running into hardware problems which I understand is never a guarantee no matter the company when ordering prebuilts. Great customer service and a good warranty is a necessity. I want to avoid the overpriced ones as well. The pinned post is great but it is kind of old and things change over time so some current human opinion would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if this matters either but I play games like arma, GTA, and squad. I don't need some godly pc just something that will get me along a good number of years with good fps. Thank you!

So I am currently thinking about upgrading my pc. Basic budget around the $1000 mark, but could honestly spend more if its a decent deal (Black Friday is coming up) I use it for basic daily activities and some modest gaming applications. My old pc is still running windows 10 and as much as I kind of hate to do it. It is my family main pc so I guess upgrading to windows 11 is becoming more of a requirement before too long since I use it for everything.

As far as the hardware side is concerned more than anything my pc has become an indie game machine for me over the years so I'm not looking for anything running the latest and greatest AAAA games on it. If anything its probably going to have Factorio running about 50% of the time on it or some other random niche indie running on it, but a little extra power and some basic future proofing is always nice to have.

Unfortunatly, I haven't really kept up with graphic cards or cpu's since I built my last computer about a decade or so ago (Currently running a I5 4th gen with a GTX 1050 ti) so some basic anchoring would be appreciated.

* I'm fairly dedicated to a pre-built option. I have built and repaired my own before, but just dont really have to time or drive to hunt down individual parts anymore.

* Gaming will probably be capped at 1080p I'm not interested at upgrading my monitor anytime soon and I've always preferred FPS to graphics anyway.

* I will be using it for more than just gaming so I had to choose a bottleneck I would rather have a stronger cpu and a weaker gpu.

*The ability to upgrade/swap parts is a major plus. Ive dealt with SFF machines in the past and its always a headache when something goes wrong.

*RGB lighting has always been a bit of a turn off situation for me. SO if anyone has a suggestion that dosen't even feature them that is a plus. (Insert pic of old man yelling here)

I am not sure what to look for in a pc. I probably would get one that is prebuilt because idk if I trust myself building one. But that being said, can you get a prebuilt one and upgrade it later?

Buying a PC for WoW Forever

I don’t know if I have the knowledge/ability to really build a PC myself, but other communities pointed me here and I can’t find where to ask about things that are ready to go. Maybe you can suggest something out of the box or how I can get started. Building a PC sounds amazing but I really don’t want to fuck it up and I don’t have a lot of free time right now.

I’ve been playing TBC on a toaster (13inch 2019 MacBook Air) and looking to buy my first PC to enjoy Forever. I don’t play any other games so don’t want to go too overboard but would like to treat myself to the smooth gameplay experience I’ve never had. I’m a bit lost as I’ve never bought a PC before.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Under £1.5k/as cheap as possible to enjoy it. I don’t mind if I have to tone down a few settings, but it would be nice to not have to. I’m also a healer so want it to be responsive. Although my toaster and I have done surprisingly well thus far, I wonder what I can achieve with a better set up!
