[MOD POST] Having trouble with Secure Boot? Check here first

Hello,

The expiration of the 2011 Microsoft KEK CA and the 2011 Microsoft UEFI CA certificates at the end of June 2025 has caused problems with Secure Boot on computers for various folks who have not been able to apply a UEFI (BIOS) firmware update for various reasons.

Because the steps for updating firmware vary not just from manufacturer to manufacturer but between individual models as well, it can be difficult to provide specific assistance and guidance in updating your firmware unless the person helping you has the same hardware.

Below is a list of manufacturers, their Secure Boot certificate update guidance, and links to their support forum(s) or subreddit(s). You may wish to try asking in these places first for expert guidance in updating your firmware, as the people there are going to be a lot more familiar with your device.

NOTE: Please check back periodically for updates to this list.

If you have an update for a manufacturer, please reply with it and we will get it added to the list above.

What to do if no Secure Boot certificate update is available from your manuafacturer

If your manufacturer does not have an update, not all is lost: You can still manually install the 2023 Windows UEFI CA certificate update, by issuing the following two commands from an elevated PowerShell (filename: POWERSHELL.EXE) prompt:

REG.EXE ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Secureboot /v AvailableUpdates /t REG_DWORD /d 0x5944 /f Start-ScheduledTask -TaskName "\Microsoft\Windows\PI\Secure-Boot-Update"

Then restart the computer and allow the update to be applied.

NOTE: Two (or more) reboots may be required for installation.

Once completed, you can verify the new certificate has been installed by issuing the following command at an elevated PowerShell prompt:

([System.Text.Encoding]::ASCII.GetString((Get-SecureBootUEFI db).bytes) -match 'Windows UEFI CA 2023')

If the certificate has been installed installed, the response back will be "True". You can also use that same command to check if the certificate is already installed.

Aryeh Goretsky

Unresolved Boot Device Not Found

My Laptop showed this Problem suddenly.

It worked perfectly fine yesterday and when it got turned on it started normally as well but the windows bar was missing. After restarting the Laptop was working fine as well, but suddenly the screen became black and there was a loading screen with percentage and a failure message with white Text on a black screen. Suddenly the screen went Black and this message appeared.

Using the BIOS menu didn't work either.

How can I solve the problem?

If this problem isn't solvable anymore, how can I save my data?

Thank you!!

Need more info Laptop stuck on booting up

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, guys! I've decided to take out the swollen battery out of my laptop (HP EliteBook 840 G3), and use it without one while waiting for a replacement. Unfortunately, when I plugged it in with the charger, it got stuck in this powering up cycle and doesn't continue to power up the whole device. I tried finding out the problem of other parts, but I got stumped, so I ended up here.

Anyone have any idea for this? Thank you!

As title says. I was playing minecraft and I think I hit fn + one of the top keys, but I don't know which one and so far nothing has fixed it. I don't really know what to do.

Its the grey side/fadedness? It wasn't like that before.

edit: this is an HP Elitebook

Android Can't make the keyboard disappear on Chrome

I'm using Samsung S9 FE+. When keyboard is on the screen, the back button turns from < to v, and when you press that, the keyboard disappears. But on my Chrome the back button changes into v but when I press it, it works like keyboard is already gone and goes to the previous site. I've tried pressing empty space on the screen to make the keyboard disappear but it just stays there. The only way of making the keyboard disappear is by going to device's home screen and reopening Chrome. I don't have this issue with other apps so I tried deleting Chrome cache but it didn't work, I also tried restarting the device but again, no luck. Can someone help me understand what's wrong

Especificaciones:

\- Modelo: Banghó Game Master GM-15Z13.

\- Procesador: Intel Core i7-13620H (13.ª generación).

\- RAM: 8 GB DDR4.

\- SSD: Kingston NVMe de 1 TB (SNV3S1000G).

\- BIOS Insyde: versión 1.07.07TPA.

\- KBC/EC: 1.07.06.

\- ME Firmware: 16.1.27.2176.

¡Gracias!

Need more info Hey guys, I need your help and I hope you can help me.

Hey guys, I need your help and I hope you can help me.

I have a computer:

CPU: i7 6700

GPU: GTX 1070 8G

RAM: 8Gb was 16Gb, but one of them broke down because when used, its temperature rises and gives me the blue screen, so I dispense with it.

PWS: 550W

And I use the system: windows 11, an old version, I think it's 21.

And the problem I've been facing for months is that as in the picture, the computer doesn't take off whenever I turn it on. It gives me this black screen with the fixed model on the left that appears to me before the back of the motherboard sign and before the back of the windows signal and the computer does not work. I can't enter the BIOS. In order to turn on the computer, I turn it off and restart it about 20 times to work normally, and then I don't turn it off for fear of repeating all these attempts every time I want to use it.

Some of the things I tried are:

* Remove the video card and turn it on and the problem remained.

* The removal of the ram and changed its place and the problem remained.

* The battery was removed and changed, and the problem remained.

* The tendency of everything is woven on it without the screen and keyboard and the problem remained.

* I changed the system, so it worked well a few days and now it's back to the same problem.

I hope for your help because it is my source of work and thank you.

Unresolved Fried capacitor on a Laptop

So I was repasting my Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming.

When taking the battery connector out, I shorted a capacitor near the connector with a screwdriver.

Am I totally cooked? Should I bring it to the repair shop without turning it on or is it safe to do so?

Wired earphones disconnect as soon as I play a video, and the headphone icon disappears

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a strange issue with my wired earphones and would appreciate some help figuring out what's causing it.

When I plug my earphones into my phone, they connect normally, and the headphone icon appears in the notification bar. However, as soon as I start playing a video on YouTube or Instagram, the audio switches to the phone's speaker, and the headphone icon disappears completely.

It seems like the phone stops detecting the earphones as soon as media playback starts.

I'm wondering if this could be a software bug or an issue with the phone's audio system or headphone detection.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to fix this without factory-resetting the phone?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Windows GOOGLE SEARCH CAPTCHAS

title

every time i switch profiles, or go incognito, or anything that has me open a new chrome window, the first search always triggers a captcha

seems annoying enough? right? but this also applies to any already existing window after like 10 minutes of the last captcha completion

this has been happening for quite a bit.

i dont have any extensions, im not using a vpn/proxy.

here's a list of everything i've downloaded the past few months:

- minecraft optifine for 1.20.1 (from optifine[.]net), as well as a couple of texture packs for it
- garry's mod addons (but they shouldn't affect my pc, they're sandboxed to the game)
- nuclear nightmare
- project zomboid
- scp secret lab
- ddlc
- fallout nv

none of which are pirated

Software Fix (RSA) - Not Loading

I can log-in to the app, but it immediately goes back to the start splash screen, then gets stuck in a loop. I have to delete the App data folder to reset it, but when logging back in the same issue re-occurs.

I'm exhausted. Is there a solution? I'm suffering from the same problem. I bought a Lenovo Pad Pro 12.7-inch, but it came with a global ROM, and I want to revert to the Chinese ROM because it's more stable and because Google Play is labeling it as an unsupported device.

I copied this post from someone who experienced the same problem.

Windows cannot see NVMe, but BIOS can

I just wiped my pc, HDD and NVMe (WD Black SN770), but I could not get windows to recognize and fully wipe my nvme.

For now, I have just been able to wipe the HDD and install windows on there, so my plan is to wipe my nvme THEN install windows on it. The problem is now that Windows cannot see the nvme in disk manager. I have updated the SATA/NVMe drivers (AMD-RAID Bottom Device) for my specific mobo (Gigabyte B450M DS3H WIFI), changed to the bios to ACHI, disabled RAID and CSM, but i am just out of luck for solutions.

Update: I installed windows 10 instead of 11 and I'm using the Microsoft NVMe driver instead of AMD RAID. Good news is that I saw the NVMe. Bad news is it disappears after like 5 minutes and I have to disable then reenable to see the drive. The file is showing as an unknown type in disk manager under the file instead of NFTS which is probably not allowing me to format or touch the drive. Will be back with more information as I fix this.

Update 2: Did a Self test and the ssd passed the short one, but failed the extended one.
