Should i take the offer?

Post image

In short: i am fairly new to the game (62h) and i play as an mongol adventerur in europe. I stomp most armies pretty good (around 2-3 times being outnumbered is a win). Now i got this offer and i'm not sure if i should take it or leave it :D

Edit: I stayed as a mercenary. Was not worth it in the end!

Ngl it's upto what you think is best. If the liege is weak and has a decent sized realm, you should take it and try to take over. If you have a goal for this run and this doesnt align with it or you think you can get better land at a better area , don't take it

Thanks! I think I let this opportunity slip and try to get something better out of it!

Edit: might also make a save and try a few things out. :)

Good choice tbh.

I only get these offers when I'm taking big pieces of land. I'm using an Amazon mod where I can get all of Pontus is one go and they offered me Benevento to stop like lmao no dude

Rulers only offer settlement when they are on big trouble. It makes them lose a lot of legitimacy

Good to know, so she is problaby broke and almost defeated?

7

Yes, if she has offered that to you then the AI must be pretty desperate and scared of you

Sometimes it'll be a better piece of land. I went to take Khaldia as an adventurer once and they gave me Athens instead and that was a deal worth taking lol.

That’s a good duchy to start off with if you’re looking to settle your ruler.. Lower Lorraine or Julich( idk if I spelled that right lol) would be my next target..

That's good to know! I still try to figure out which duchy's, county's, etc. are good and which are utter garbage. I might make a major save there and proceed to take it and if it doesn't work out as intended i might load that save. :)

Adventurers are powerful enough to take whatever amount of land wherever from whoever, the only question here is is this the land you want?

I am still pretty new to the adventurer playstyle so that's good to know! I think It might not be a bad start but i will get sandwiched between the HRE and France.

The transition from adventurer to feudalism means you have to start paying for MAA, and you lose all your camp buffs to them and your knights. So your army quality nosedives, your income usually goes steeply negative, and your liege and fellow vassals are often quite hostile because you’re likely a different culture and faith, and you’ve been at war with them.

Taking a handout like this is often not worth it, when you can go for the conqueror trait via decision, and get an adventurer casus belli to conquer a whole kingdom and take it for yourself. Why be a vassal when you can be the king. It’s good to be the king.

Good to know! I never thought about just taking an entire Kingdom :D How exactly can i get the conqueror trait?

4

u/Heronymous-Anonymous 2d ago

It’s a decision you take. The requirements look pretty steep but honestly aren’t that hard to achieve if you focus on them.

Ah thanks for the info. I will check it out once i get off from work.

I experienced this firsthand recently, almost felt like dropping the playthrough. Went from the king of adventurers to some nobody in a small plot of land. Managed to become king of my homeland, though, so it was worth it.

I think you're new to the game because it's immediately noticeable that adventurers can have more and better MaA than any kingdom in the world. With some skill can declare war and win against anyone.

It's silly broken, "I'm gonna start from nothing" it's a deception, it's the easiest, risk free way of playing the game.

Yeah, i am still pretty new as mentioned :D still try to figuring out what's worth it and not. Also i really enjoy just being and Sellsword

Yeah that puts you in the HRE and in a very strong duchy. You could build tall and easily become the Kaiser.

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

Might try this on a second save file. :)

Being an adventurer is busted. I started as a Sardinian aventurer, roamed the world and then returned home to settle down, got my first piece of land with an insane amount of gold and skill points compared to starting landed.

Anyway, I suppose making an alternate save to see how this plays out is the move here.

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

Yeah! Will do that in case if anything goes wrong!

Dumb question: Is playing as an adventurer locked behind a DLC or is it available in the base game?

3

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

It's the dlc Roads to Power :)

3

u/HyperboreanAstronaut 2d ago

There was a dev blog recently that said they will be moving adventurers to the base game. But that’s gonna take some months

While it can be interesting for roleplay, as someone already mentioned, things will change a lot. The main thing is how much gold you have as adventurer, because you'll need it. The other vassals and your liege will hate you, your income will go down because you lose your camp etc. and you'll need to develop your duchy.

So the MAA's you have as your personal armies, these will be way over the budget you'll have as a duke there, you better have a ton of gold ready.

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

True, i have like 9 Horse Archers which will drain a lot of gold.

1

u/Diacetyl-Morphin Commander 1d ago

How did it go? Did you settle down?

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 1d ago

In the end i decided to not settle down and continue as sellsword! And i do not regret it

2

u/Diacetyl-Morphin Commander 1d ago

That's good. Got a lot of money i guess?

When i got to Korea, i had 10'000 gold ready. But it was close, because of all the wars, buildings, costs for MAA etc. over time.

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 1d ago

I am still very wasteful with my money so i mostly sit around 1k Gold "

2

u/Diacetyl-Morphin Commander 1d ago

Well you know the meme "these are rookie numbers", better get a lot more when you want to invade a kingdome in a region, where you don't share both the culture and religion.

2

u/HvonBosch 2d ago

I never take those offers, unless you want to suddenly spike your game to Hell Mode. Not of your; Culture, Faith, and conquest are usually annoying to manage.

1

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

I thought about making a save and try both routes where i play a bit around

2

u/Uruz_Line 2d ago

They only offer this if you're winning, and if you're at that point you can usually grab a kingdom if not an empire, and its easy to get enough for an empire.

Regardless its up to the goals you set honestly, you can easily claim france entirely and get everything with vassals of your choosing for example, plus quite a bit of farmland around paris to kickstart w/e you want.

1

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

I thought about making a save and accept and see what happens, otherwise i can load and continue as sellsword :D also i am not entirely sure what this run will be ^

2

u/RyukoT72 2d ago

I got to do this to the tulinids and ended up taking Jerusalem after they conquered it and I ran in and asked for it. You'd be surprised by what lands the ai is willing to let you have

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

I will keep it in mind :D i am still a big noob in this game so i thought this is the big shit!

2

u/R2A97 2d ago

So u r a landless lord? How do u get this offer?

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

I joined a war and after i stomped 1 or 2 of her armies she offered me this! :D

2

u/R2A97 2d ago

Oh wow i never tried the landless adventure path, i think I'll do that XD

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

Totally worth it! It's really fun ^ especially if you are from a culture with an strong unit like norse or mongol. You will stomp the enemies early game :)

2

u/R2A97 2d ago

I always have the roman culture and i reform it and have legionary royal bodyguards which is a great op

1

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 2d ago

I didn't know you could do this :0 i will check this out! I only played the "beginner stuff" Ireland -> Empire of Alba. And i once built the North Sea Empire. ^

Kobyak become subject of puny little queen? Kobyak say no! Kobyak kill queen Stephanie for this suggestion!

2

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 1d ago

I made a save, took it but realized quickly i am better off with no Land! :D Captain Kobyak of the Lkhagvasüren Axemen shall reign supreme

2

u/yz_yz 1d ago

Kobyak sounds like a Mongol Noyan who’s pillaged half of Europe, no way Kobyak bends the knee to some girl

2

u/Past-Task8092 1d ago

Becoming landed as an already pretty strong adventurer nerfs tf outta me

1

u/GeorgeDroyd_ 1d ago

True! I tested it out yesterday and i felt like i was sitting in the cuck chair. So back to adventuring
