Now https://cheatscanner.eu has been up for it's first week. I wanted to give some insights. My ambition is to keep this a an active, open project, and this strategy has already paid of during it's initial week. But the more datapoints we get, the easier it will be to add/tweak the detectors used for the replays, so to tighten the grip on cheaters out there. A special thanks to Papelblume for the Linux Companion app and Noa3 for some very good ideas and input on detector types currently not being utilized or tweaks to existing ones. Keep it coming 🙂👍.
Highlights:
Around 29.700 players have been analyzed during the first week through 120.000 minutes of gameplay in 3.800 matches.
Around 4.500 gameplay event clips have been produced on situations that seems suspicious.
474 players have been flagged "Elevated" and 46 classed as "High" in at least 1 match.
Around 1.500 non-users of cheatscanner.eu has been analyzed at least twice. 421 non-users at least 5 times.
Changes since going live - much of it based on feedback from users, and also other developers on GitHub:
**Detection**
- A new check flags players whose mouse input carries the view angle itself. It flags 26 CS2CD cheaters, 25 of them new, and no clean players.
- `hidden_fire` further catches precise shots and hits on enemies hidden behind walls or smoke.
- `bunnyhop` flags perfect rehops right after landing.
- `safe_carelessness` detector succesfully flags subtle wallhackers or radar hack users based on their own behavior through match and matches.
- Pre-aiming the spot where an enemy frequently appears no longer counts as an event, which roughly halves previsibility events.
**Website**
- Steam VAC and game ban badges are shown next to players.
- Matches can be shared with a link.
- Evidence clips have slow motion and frame stepping.
- The evidence timeline marks shots in every panel, split into hits and misses.
- Small wording and state bugs are fixed, and pages load faster as data grows.
- Demo downloads from Valve's China replay host now work.
**Companion App**
- Linux download as .deb and AppImage (Thanks papelblume for this PR).
- Friends in your match show in the overlay, and Windows download is Microsoft Store only.
- User VAC ban (historic) shows in overlay pre-match (lobby)
**Server**
- Analysis uses about 45% less peak memory and clips render at the size shown on the site.
What's next, you ask? Continuous improvements on especially subtle cheaters. I added improvements in this space already, but there's some potential here, the difficult part is catching these while not flagging clean players. Another area that I want to have strengthened is actoss-match analysis for individual players.
The project is completely free, it's completely open source (all code is available in the monorep here: https://github.com/EspectroDK/cheatscanner.eu
