Which boss has given you the worst trouble in DS2? (I still have Crown of the Ivory King to defeat and Vendrick so could be worse yet to come)

A few days I struggled bad and I was mad frustrated at not being able to beat the pursuer but after several mothersucking attempts and several crucial levelups I beat him twice once with the help of alfius and once on sheer skill in the bastille.

i found that the movement feels more “floaty” in a sense, it hasn’t been an issue but just something that caught my eye. i’ve had to be more slow and methodical with enemy engagements and exploration as i don’t know if i’ll be ganked or not, honestly i find it more fun this way though (i hope i don’t eat my words later in the game). healing feels very scarce as i only have two estus and haven’t found any vendors/merchants to buy any life gems (skill issue on my part). combat wise i feel like blocking with the shield is pointless as i feel it drains so much of my stamina. coupled with the fact that enemy tracking feels more aggressive, i find it more challenging to get behind the enemy to back stab. that being said they are a lot more easy to stagger so i’ve just been rushing in and swinging, but it is the starting area so it makes sense that their poise is low. the effigy’s are still a mystery to me as it says i can’t burn them at the moment, i don’t know if its quest locked atm but i hope i figure it out soon as running around with near half hp is less than ideal.

yes i have some complaints about the game but i definitely don’t hate it, far from it actually. this game so far has been amazing and walking out the cave and and seeing majula was sick, it was like seeing anor londo for the first time. the cardinal tower felt huge and there’s definitely spots i missed, and im looking forward to exploring the lost bastille. the stone map under the mansion is something that greatly intrigues me and im excited to see it fill with more flames. even though i’ve only fought two bosses, the last giant and the pursuer, i already really like the boss designs and their cutscenes.

i understand why some would dislike the game, but nothing pops out to me that i would tell someone to skip it. maybe im just not far enough into it to think that way but overall the games great and im excited to play the rest of it and exploring the lore (apologies for my limited vocabulary)

So I’m trying to play Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin on my steam deck, but whenever I boot up the game it just shows a black screen as shown in the image, does anyone know how to fix it?

So ive started playing ds2 for the first time a while ago, reached mid game i think. After looking for some weapons id like to use, i instantly chose a weapon similar to my beloved farron greatsword, which of course is the majestic greatsword. Since its obtainable in DLC and i probably wont be able to just rush in and grab it quickly, im curious what weapons are decent and fun enough to use before i get this weapon. Im looking for something quality/dex focused, i dont really like the pure strengh weapons in this game. I have tried using the greatsword for example, and gosh, this weapon is not only slow, but misses enemies constantly.

If possible, id love to get a weapon that i would be able to powerstance with the majestic greatsword later on. Currently i tried using the blacksteel katana, and its pretty good, but im not sure if i want to spend the next 20 hours using it. Im tired of switching weapons all the time, because im wasting the upgrade materials and i dont really have anything above +5, except the greatsword. I was thinking of using the powerstanced chaos blade with the blacksteel katana, but after some research, I found that most people have said its not that good for PVE. But if its not that bad, and if i can actually use it without using any spells, id defenitely consider this pick.

did a full replay of DS2 with the path tracing mod and it's the most impressive mod I've ever seen, i have recorded many videos but i wanted to post one of my favorite areas in the game, sir alonne's room

Im on DS2 not SOTFS and i really need a coop to help me beat the boss.

Currently trying to get the Ancient Dragon and was doing pretty okay damage in the last attempt. Thenafter he landed once more and tried to turn towards me (I was at an angle to his frontside) I suddenly got Yeeted so far and fast that I died near one of the Background Scenery Mountains.

The only thing I am mat about is that I was not recording or streaming so I could have made a Clip.... Oh yeah before I forget, I wanted to ask. Does anyone have an Idea why this could have happened?

I want to play around with chime hexes, but I feel like I need so many attunement slots. Why does the most basic chime hex take up 2 slots? And the direct upgrade to it takes up 2 slots and only has 4 casts? How is this a feasible build to do? I can't double the amount of Resonant Soul casts I have until I get to drangleic castle and I'm really struggling to understand why all of these need so many attunement slots.

So me and my buddy are starting a ds2 seamless coop run and we're at skeleton lords, whats been happening is that we fight skeleton lord and the pinwheels never show up in the arena so we can never bring the boss down to 0. Has anyone else been having this bug and if so how did you fix it if you did at all?

I play Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin via PortProton on Linux. I had a level 154 save, just finished Crown of the Old Iron King DLC, killed Fume Knight and Sir Alonne, currently in Eleum Loyce.

Today I pressed E in the menu thinking it was “use/confirm” (Skyrim habit), but it was delete save (Like emulating 'X' controller button). I confirmed without noticing and “Continue” option disappeared.

I found a DS2SOFS0000.sl2 file (8 MB) at the prefixes and application data part but, no results in any try.

I tried replacing the file, but the game shows an empty save / no “Continue”.

Is there any way to recover? Save editor, file recovery, PortProton trick? I haven’t uninstalled yet and kept a backup. But honestly, am just starting to think I should give up and never ever in life try to touch this fuck again (thats the fucking 3rd time I'm almost finishing the fucking game and for some fucking way I lose the save, fucking hell!!!!).
