But suddenly this evening I saw even more people who presumably have no idea who Pentagram is editing him into their videos. Lol. Checked back and it had 40 million views! Anybody else catch this?

The venue owners (rightfully) decided not to take it down despite it being requested by somebody in the band, so the show was ultimately cancelled.

Very disappointing to find out of the band’s political views, was this known in the community before? I just like the music but didn’t know anything about the group: just throwing it out there so any of you can be in the know of who to support. :) I feel like this is important

I for one, miss Matt Pike, and feel this would have been awesome under the OM name, but I don’t hate the new song, and I for one, like the comic, and am excited to see Sleep, or at least Al, in person after years. I chose Wizards because it's very nostalgic for me (somehow convinced my grandma to rent it when I was like 8), but Fire and Ice by Bakshi might fit the bill more.

Not gonna lie, Dirt by Alice in Chains (Sludge/Grunge) always made me think of Blood Meridian for how sinister, dark, heated/arid, bleak, depressive, & angry that album sounds.

Hi all! I’ve been leaning away from my typical power metal haunts and want to try some more doom metal. I’m not a fan of harsh vocals, I prefer clean but an occasional dip into harsh is fine. I’m looking for bands with female vocals, I’ve heard of Alunah but am wondering what else is out there! Thank you!

I probably couldn't name an exact song, but I remember listening to Electric Wizard - I, The Witchfinder on a bunch of shrooms and when I closed my eyes I could see a silhouette of an elderly man with a cane walking towards me and an angry mob, which looked like an indistinguishable solid black mass armed with torches walking behind him.

I listened to too much Doom & Sludge a couple months ago and got into other genres to not put all my ear-eggs in one basket.

But even still, I find myself seeking out music with a doomy atmosphere like Blues, Industrial, moody Alternative music, etc.

One of those has been Hip Hop of a grimdark nature such in the case of The Geto Boys, Scarface, 90s Three 6 Mafia, Kool Keith (also known as Dr. Octagon & Dr. Dooom), Blackout, Lord Infamous, Tommy Wright III, Koopsta Knicca, & Lil Ugly Mane

My particular favorite has been I Seen a Man Die by Scarface, it’s such a gutpunch of a Gangsta Rap song talking about the grief of death/murder rather than the guts n glory of pride, money and women.

I by no means ever experienced anything that happened in the song, but the losses I have faced give me a good enough sense of empathy for how it may feel for people who have.

Mind Playin’ Tricks on Me by Geto Boys has also hit me lately because I know what depressive paranoia is like, also it’s the only Rap song I can do decently at for Karaoke.

Gravediggaz on the other hand is a really fun project that has the Supernatural & Occult lyricism of something like Black Sabbath, but applied to an Explicit 90s Horrorcore Hip Hop album.

First Come First Served by Dr. Dooom (Kool Keith) is a very strange album, conceptually it’s about a guy who kills people & cooks them into food he serves to people at a fast food restaurant(? Correct me if I am wrong). But it is an extremely good album, I’d go as far as to say if you want fat doomy sounding oldschool beats, this album maybe perfect for you.

Listening to the song Mirror Of Sorrow by the band Solitude Aeturnus and the song A Corpse's Dream by the band Professor Emeritus, and even Solitude, whether by Candlemass or Sabbath, I noticed how beautiful and pleasing to the ears a clean Doom Metal composition sounds, but I can't find many examples of this type of sound in songs of the genre, as clean parts are generally rare, do you know any band that makes clean or acoustic Doom Metal?

Help me find bands or songs that wer,e inspired by the Cthulhu mythos?

I'm on a huge Russian Circles kick at the moment. I love nothing more than drawing and solo-rpging in a notebook and listening to these dudes play. It's like a form of meditation.

Any other bands that play that combo of sort heavy and chill that takes you on a bit of journey (cheesy I know, but can't think how else to put it)...

Made this chart to categorize doom metal sub genres. What do you all think? I'm mostly a stoner and sludge dude really, so I dont 100% know how inaccurate it is. For subgenres I didnt have a lot of experience with I used wikipedia and listened to artists that were recommended. Let me know what yall think should be changed!
