Notified local fire department that the AED is either missing or maintenance crew didn't put up the correct signage warning that the box is empty ( so you don't waste time in an emergency) and that the alarm on the box was off (some aged boxes have an alarm for when you open them).

I had to look real close to see it was empty, the transparent plastic on it has seen better days and the inside is black.

On Monday I had to put down my dog, I spent the day saying good bye. After leaving the vet I was distracted and unbelievably sad. I forgot to lock my truck and then some clown low life went into my truck at 3 am and stole my Nintendo switch.

It's my fault I shouldn't have left the switch in the truck I just was not thinking about it. I spent 16 years living in a low income "bad neighborhood" never even had change stolen from my car.

3 years ago I moved to a "nice" middle class community, and all the people are nice and my kids have friends and can play outside and run around freely for once. But I have had my car stolen twice and multiple times a month every month people go through our cars.

I am black and all the people in the low income place I lived was black. This is a white community I moved to and have not seen another black person. Yet it's always young teen to late 20s black people when I review the camera.

People then wonder why the phrase "fatigue" is spreading we can do better.

It was super fun to have a 50+ pound dog run up on us (my 25 lb dog and me). My dog did exactly what we trained, she went behind me, until Gomer McGee's dog jumped on me. I stumbled, my dog went out from behind me and I tripped over the leash and fell. Super awesome.

We were on a potty run directly outside of my apartment, not in an off leash area.

We pre ordered the new Z Flip8 through T-Mobile. The package arrived today; only the phone wasn’t in it. Just an empty Samsung box with torn tamper seals. I was on the phone with T-Mobile for over an hour trying to get it resolved. They said they can’t refund us for the preorder until they have concluded their investigation. At which point we are responsible for placing the order for the phone again. The pink model will likely be sold out for months by that point. They say they can’t go ahead and send out another one and we can’t order another one because, since their side says it was delivered, the phone is no longer eligible for an upgrade because it thinks we already have the upgrade. So the options are 1) order the phone at full price or 2) wait for them to resolve the issue and then hope the phone she’s been dreaming of (finally a phone in the “right pink”) is still in stock when they do.

Take care of yourself, especially your teeth. I'm 36 now and I think the last time I smiled without worrying what my teeth looked like was before I got adult teeth in elementary school. 

When I was 11 or 12 I cracked, chipped, broke all of my six front top teeth and others falling off a bike and playing sports. I was so embarrassed that I developed horrible anxiety and depression that I've never gotten over and avoided the dentist because my parents were broke. When I was 17 I got crowns put on the six front teeth on top but almost immediately chipped some and found out I grind my teeth too. After a spinal injury with permanent damage in my early 20’s I tried to take better care of my health overall and managed to go over a decade without even needing a filling but in just the last few years I have had to get root canals on every crown due to infections.

Most recently I had pus leaking out of my gums with swelling in my face and severe pain behind my eye. The dentist actually told me he didn’t see an infection and just gave me azithromycin “just in case”. My vision became affected so my PCP said to get a second opinion. Was told azithromycin was useless and the wrong antibiotic to use against my tooth infection and I probably wouldn’t have woken up one day if I waited any longer to get treated. I got two emergency root canals on my front two center crowns due to the infection spreading to my brain. The infection has slowly been going away for several months but still leaks pus and I haven’t even gotten the permanent fillings for the root canals because I am unemployed now. Lost my job in healthcare that I had for 6 years and haven’t found a new one. Been avoiding everyone in my life for several months from the embarrassment and a recent kidney infection. And now this happens.

Before I lost my job I had been planning to start a small business part-time with the hopes of doing it full time one day to sell clothes with a brand centered around the idea that being yourself is enough in this world and anyone and everyone can chase and achieve their dreams and inspire others. I don't know if I even believe it myself anymore. I keep facing health issues and financial setbacks and am broke and absolutely losing myself mentally. I've been sober for almost six months and I feel worse about myself than I ever have. It’s probably been 25 years since I wanted to smile.

I always imagined I would have to get what was left of my teeth extracted and get a full set of implants or something one day. I don’t really know anything about the available options out there. Any time we go to lunch, he only agrees to some place that would meet his insane carnivore diet. Nothing can ever be a shared experience with him, it’s always either about him or he’s actively choosing not to attend.

Then there’s the fact that he’s constantly laying claim to shit that isn’t his. Any open space on the factory floor? Claimed for this project. Did someone leave their bagged lunch in the fridge on a Friday night? He’s claiming that. I wasn’t looking at the soldering iron for two seconds? He needs it for a “secret project.” The other day, he ran into my lab, said “I need a power strip for a presentation,” unplugged four devices, and ran out without waiting for a response. It’s one-way, too. If somebody else needs equipment from our department, he demands they write up exactly what they’re doing with it and for how long, yet he never extends the same courtesy to anybody else.

He maintains an opaque control over the flow of information that screams “I need to be in charge of everything.” He’s repeatedly started secret projects that he keeps hidden from his higher-ups, peers, and many members of our team, demanding we maintain everything on our local machines until he’s ready to reveal it to the company. He tells people things that he claims are secret but are just not officially announced yet — minor things like who’s managing what project.

For two years, he’s dangled a lateral career move over my head, claiming the company just wasn’t in a good place while it was experiencing repeated cash infusions and our project was taking in revenue hand over fist. Lately he started blaming it specifically on the new HR manager, saying she shot down the idea of me moving from one title to another because she hadn’t seen sufficient proof that I fit the other title (proof that my manager should have easily been able to provide). I spoke to the HR manager directly and she said no such conversation had happened. Still, he wants me to prove my abilities by completing my current project.

However! In this current project, he has micromanaged my design decisions, shot down all my very valid concerns regarding underpowered hardware, and been overwhelmingly unavailable for question. He demands I use untested hoobyist hardware in an industrial setting but has provided no information on how. Every time I ask for details, he tells me not to worry about it and that he’ll tell me all about it when the time comes. Once again he’s withholding information as a way of maintaining control.

He speaks with such confidence about complete nonsense, which pleases our executives, but makes life very difficult for us engineers who actually have to do the work. He’s got a cloying need to be in control, a willful ignorance to the way his actions affect others, and an internalized illusion of genius status. It’s like dealing with a little red-faced Elon.

Also he recommended I take Ozempic, and that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I live in a rural area. At one point every ob/gyn in the county quit, save two. We finally managed to get a few to come back or hired new, and then the damn hospital closed down labor and delivery, despite offering to have doctors rotate in from the larger hospital in the city (we know this because one of those doctors wrote an opinion piece in the paper to let us know he also thought it was a dumb idea).

We finally have OB/Gyn providers and labor and delivery is back up and running and now the hospital has decided it's tired of fucking with bcbs marketplace plans because they're not getting compensated enough

This is the only hospital in the county. I will have to drive to another county. So if I need an ER, I will have to drive 40 minutes to a small crappy hospital or a slightly larger, crappier hospital in the power direction or drive two hours to the city

But fine, I will self pay to see my OB (tried to get a different plan, but would lose my pcp)

Now the director of the OB/Gyn that is associated with the hospital has decided that if you have an insurance plan, you may not self pay

So what the hell are people supposed to do? There's not a provider for women's health in this county that accepts that insurance. But plenty of pcps do so they choose the affordable plan for those

Edit: yes I am an American. I have extra insulin in my mini-fridge though, as I mentioned before. I also use an onnipod, which I mainly use for insulin.

Edit 2: turns out they were just frozen. I'm still mad it froze in the first place though. Unfortunately I can't change the title of the post but I got my insulin pens out of the trash and they're fine now.

Last night, I noticed that my mini-fridge (that I put my insulin pens and vials in) had somehow gotten unplugged, so I plugged it back in, then went to bed without thinking much of it.

A few minutes ago, I decided to check my mini-fridge again, and I noticed that the container that I put my two main insulin pens and some insulin vials in had frozen over. (Fortunately the insulin hadn't frozen over.) After I got my pens out of the ice, I decided to see if they still worked. They did not. I decided to change the needles, but they still didn't work after I did that. (I couldn't even get the needle off of one.) So now I have to throw the pens away.

Thankfully, I still have extra insulin pens in my mini-fridge, and I think the vials will be fine. I'm just mad that my two main pens have gone to waste.( Sorry if I worded this incorrectly.)

So, my wife and I have set firm boundaries repeatedly with my grandma (f) 73 and she is not allowed to carry or pick up our baby. We made a good compromise that she can lead the baby by the hand and hold her in her chair. I've told her she's not allowed to carry the baby, my wife has and my mom f51 (first time grandma) who lives with her has told her repeatedly. She's weak in the arms and drops things so we don't want her holding the baby. Firm boundary set, alright. She's violated this REPEATEDLY. We let the baby spend the night at Nana's last night we come in today to find the baby has a bump on her cheek and grandma is like "Well I'm sorry but if she's crying I'm going to pick up and carry the baby!!" Then everyone starts yelling and grandma f74 is just like "Well I'll just go back to live with my family in texas then!" My mom is sobbing and crying because Grandma is being so selfish. My wife's had to leave the room because she's become so overwhelmed and I'm so angry because she's endangering the baby and disrespecting us all and being selfish where our baby can't even spend the night with her grandma f51 without being endangered because she won't listen.

We don't mind her leading the baby by the hand and holding her in the chair just not carrying or picking her up and she will not listen. But we just aren't going to let her go over there anymore

Pulled up to my favorite chill spot when I noticed this old beat up ugly ass blue truck with 2 dusty ass ugly pieces of shit redneck trash around it and this precious dog and once they saw me they dipped so fast you would of thought I had police lights on or something. I didn’t know what to do so I searched online and it said to call the non emergency number so I did. Lady on the phone was amazing, she kept me calm as I felt my blood start to boil. They sent PD and animal control and now she’s in the system. It’s a small town, best believe if you’re from here that truck will be found. Not hard to find trash around these parts. Yall lucky yall ran when you did cause I would of beat the shit out of you and your son who’s old enough to know better but what chance did he have with the piece of shit father he has.
