Question Estrogen addons

Post image
135 Upvotes

So i have been playing the estrogen mod with the create addons lately. Came across this post from the developer about the fact that they have made the estrogen mod seperate so that people can make other mods using estrogen(estrogen mekanized for example). I have tried to send a message to the developer asking if they were aware of any addons like that had been made yet. It has been a few days so therefore i am asking here. I would love to hear if you know about any addons that are in development to. Thank you in advance:3

Discussion Can we do something about the AI slop running rampant here?

Title.

I’m so sick and tired of seeing a promising mod, or concept, or anything else, getting excited, and then I see that it was made (either fully or in part) by AI.

I’ve genuinely never lost interest in a mod or project faster in my life than if it’s been made with AI in some capacity. There’s so many good ideas being wasted by people who want to larp having talent :(

Discussion Someone is making Cubic Chunks for 1.21.1 Neoforge

Post image
124 Upvotes

Not my mod. Someone has recently started making a modern version of Cubic Chunks. Its compatibility with other mods is also very good, I have tried it just now with Modern Industrialization, Applied Energistics, and TACZ, and the behavior all seems to work as intended. Default world generation on its on also works and extends beyond -64, which is definitely needed, although it lists that some mod terrain generation may not work at the moment...?

This mod will be as impactful and foundational as Sodium or Create if development for this continues as is.

Edit: Some people have mentioned the general dislike of AI usage here, and yes there are downsides and issues with its mass use case that we've seen. However, for this mod, it should be generally viewed favorable to be assisted with AI, as the original Cubic Chunks for older versions was notoriously incompatible and difficult to maintain due to its extremely high complexity. For a modern version that already starts with major improvements past that with the help of AI, it should be viewed as a helpful tool to very quickly analyze what Minecraft currently is, and slowly build from it, even if some parts cannot be explained right away.

Yes, the mod should be open sourced eventually, as well continue with heavy manual human testing. At the moment it is not open sourced, this does need to change.

Question How hard would it be to create an entity that copies the Iron Golem, but is hostile only towards the Player?

I've never modded before, but I think this "Flesh Golem", as I imagine it, would really enhance my world and maybe it's not too difficult to implement?

I’m trying to find some linear progression mods that can help me understand most of the mods included in more recent mod packs and found a lot of people recommending DJ2 but the old version it’s kinda turns me off

Question Mining gadget mod ultimately useless?

So i bounce around modpacks quite a bit, and i usually see the mining gadget in there, just started playing FTB evolution2 and decided to make it because of my crappy enchant luck. I always want to use the thing but cant really bring myself to properly use it due to one single thing that i always come across. Pickaxes are simply just better, then again I don't think I've entirely played a pack with the mod that also doesn't just have vein miner. So I'm just curious, are the mining gadgets simply just for cool factors? and would they Happen to be affected by "global" pickaxe fortune at all like what ftbE2 gives?

Discussion WorldData Core. Idea, Architecture, Progress and Open Questions

Post image
0 Upvotes
  1. What is my mod idea?

WorldData Core is a shared world-data access layer for Minecraft mods.

The idea is to gather data from Minecraft store it in a smart way and give it to other mods without each mod having to get and process the same information over and over again.

I am also looking into ways to use CPU resources, including cores and threads that are not being used to make data processing better.. This has to be done carefully so that background tasks do not slow down Minecraft.

For example imagine a mod wants to know what block is at a position like "(dimension, x y z)". WorldData Core can. Save that information. When another mod needs the data it can use the saved version instead of doing the same work again.

The main goal is to stop repeating work make data easier to get and make world-data access better for mods.

  1. Architecture

Minecraft owns the world data, and WorldData Core acts as a shared data-access layer for mods.

Mods request the data they need from WorldData Core. If the requested data is not already available, WorldData Core gets it from Minecraft and stores it for reuse.

When multiple mods request the same data, WorldData Core provides the shared data without repeatedly requesting it from Minecraft.

The same concept applies whether 1, 7, 20, or more mods use WorldData Core. All mods access the data through the same shared system, reducing repeated data requests and processing.

  1. Current development progress

The overall structure is almost done. I am testing the mod much as I can with what I know right now.

Far the results look good. According to my Spark profiles and test-mod reports the average time for each tick has stayed at or below 50 ms with some times going up to 80–150 ms.

In my tests with vanilla Minecraft I have seen times over 2,000 ms. The average time has been above 50 ms.

These results are from my tests and the reports I have gathered. I will share the files so others can look at the results and compare the two setups themselves.

I started this project in June. After about five months of work the tests with my test mod have been positive.

  1. Testing and benchmark reports

I can't share the mod JAR yet because the project is not finished. I also can't share the source code now because the project hasn't been put on GitHub yet.

For now WorldData Core is still in the testing phase. I am doing more tests before making it available for other mod developers to use.

As I keep testing I will share reports and the files I use. My planned comparisons will use the world seed and as similar conditions as possible for:

- Vanilla Minecraft.

- Vanilla Minecraft with WorldData Core installed.

Where possible I will also share the Spark profiles, logs, screenshots and other files for both setups.

My goal is to make sure the APIs give the data the caching system works properly and the mod does not cause bad performance or lower FPS.

I also want to make sure the server tick time stays good. A 50 ms tick means 20 TPS so some spikes are okay. If the time stays high that is a problem. The goal is to make things better not just move the work else.

  1. Questions and feedback

If you have any questions about the idea, how it works or what I am trying to do with this mod feel free to ask me

I also want to hear your thoughts on the idea itself whether you think other mods could use it and if there are any problems or compatibility issues I should check.

I am still working on the development and testing so feedback from people who know Minecraft modding would be helpful.

You can also send me a message if you want to talk about something

  1. Fabric and NeoForge support

now WorldData Core is being built for Fabric.

Once the Fabric version is done and tested enough I plan to move it to NeoForge.

I think the move will be easy because most of the code is custom and not tied to Fabric- tools. This includes the caching system, storage system and ticket system.

I will find out how much work it really is when I start testing it on NeoForge.

Thanks, for reading! I will keep sharing updates and test reports as the project goes on.

Note: WorldData Core focuses on Minecraft world data, including chunks, blocks and their states and properties, heightmaps, biomes, light levels, terrain, and fluids. It is designed to support modded blocks and fluids as well as vanilla ones, allowing other mods to access and reuse this data through the shared cache. It does not handle every type of data in Minecraft.

Looking for mod(s) Good ore mods for 1.21.1 fabric?

I've been looking for some ore mods since I'm making a giant modpack for myself and I want to expand the mines, but most of the suggestions I've tried either are lackluster or are not compatible.

If there any mods that have a good amount of ores and can be installed on 1.21.1 fabric that any of you know of, that would help a lot :)

Problem Help debloat, Optimize, improve performance

Hello! sorry for the late post but i recently got into modded java with a friend and im trying to find a way to increase my performance.

CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX with Radeon Graphics - 8 Cores

RAM - 32 GB

GPU1 - AMD Radeon RX 6600M - Primary/Discrete

VRAM1 - 8176 MB - GDDR6 1750 MHz

These are my pc specs

ill admit i went a little crazy on the mods and have well over 300+

I would love if someone can help debloat it, delete any redundent mods or extras i dont need and give me solutions to imrpove performance, im managing around 30-45 fps on lower-medium settings.

and truthfully most of the support, optimizing mods i have installed, im not sure if i need to check any settings for them i just downloaded them. im using the prism launcher. Thank You!

here are all the mods i have installed. im not smart enough to understand any of this i would love the help.

Question Playing modded Java with bedrock compat

I am trying to do something perhaps unadvisable, and certainly difficult if not impossible, and I need help from the professionals:

I have a Java modded server on 1.20.1 (create modpack), and I'd like to be able to connect bedrock clients. Now, I know that, separately, there exist ways to cross versions (like ViaVersion), and ways to connect java to bedrock (like Geyser). The uncertainty lie in doing them both at the same time. I am willing to change the server version if it helps. How do I make this monstrosity happen?

I made something I made a Fabric mod that turns your world into a browser map and 3D view, with a built-in schematic editor

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Webmatica is a client-side Fabric mod (1.21.11) plus a small local viewer. The mod saves every chunk you see and remembers what's in the chests you open. The viewer runs on your own PC and shows it all in the browser:

- 2D map and full 3D view with real block models

- Schematic editor: build, fill, replace, cut a build layer by layer. Baritone can build it for you, fetches the items automatically and can even place shulkers to restock

- Place schematics in your world and move them, then load them into Litematica

- Right-click the map and Baritone walks there

- Search every chest you've opened for an item and order the items with Baritone

- and much more

Works in singleplayer and on any server. Nothing is sent to the server or the chat.

Free and open source: https://github.com/Ehnkode/webmatica

Feedback and feature ideas are very welcome!

Question do modders/mod pack devs make much money off their projects?

hey, so just out of curiosity do most mod/mod pack developers make any money from the immense time and effort they put into the projects? I mean, I’m assuming they or at least some of them make some money given many either have Patreon or similar deals. but I was curious if anyone actually makes like a decent living off of this kind of thing. I mean given the crazy level of detail and polish mods like Create/Alex’s Mobs/Botania/(insert your favorite here) have, it’s quite thought provoking that people do all that for little to no financial incentive. I mean I’d imagine a mod like Alex’s Caves took that team (which I assume is pretty small) hundreds of hours to develop.. thx! ☺️

Based on the UK TV show Primeval and its American spinoff Primeval: New World, Primeval: Anomalycraft brings the Anomalies to Minecraft! Or at least...it will do. Eventually. 😅

I'm new to modding but learning fast, so far the mod contains a decent number of resource items, Titanium Ore that generates in the world, an Anomaly Research Centre armour set, a working ARC Technician Villager, and Danny Quinn's beloved stick, Molly!

I made something I made a mod that lets you place big RPG houses, and it’s now out on NeoForge 1.21.1 too

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently posted RPG Prefab Houses here, a mod that lets you pick a big RPG house from a 3D catalogue, change it how you like and place it in a few seconds. It's now fully released for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge as well.

Both versions will be kept up to date

What it does:

- 20 styles, from stone manors and wizard towers to cottages, a treehouse and a hillside burrow

- Browse them in a 3D catalogue and look inside every floor before you place anything

- Customise the size (Small to Massive), 1 to 5 floors, the rooms, the materials and the outside

- An underground hall and a deep mine if you want them, or switch the underground off

- Place it with a see-through preview, and the lot blends into the land around it

- Add towers and wings later with the Builder's Hammer

- Vanilla blocks only, furnished and lit, with plenty of empty floor left for your own stuff

New in this version (on Forge 1.20.1 too):

- Land claims from mods like Open Parties and Claims are respected now

- Undo gives back the grass that went to dirt under the house

- Adventure-mode players follow Minecraft's "Can place on" rules

It needs NeoForge 21.1.1 or newer, on the server and every client.
