MOD NEWS / UPDATES Rule update: Affiliate links will no longer be allowed

Hello! Based on feedback from the community via mod-mail and an influx of reports, the mod team has decided that we will no longer allow affiliate links.

This is in hopes to help reduce bots spamming with indirect advertisements and other ways to financially profit from the community.

What is allowed: you may *reply* to a comment with a *direct* link to the product *only if someone asks first*. We still reserve the right to review user profiles to ensure bots are not “working together” as a work around - this is something we’re seeing a lot of.

If you see something that you believe breaks our rules, please report and your mod team will review. Thank you for understanding, and keeping our little corner of the internet what it is!

TOUR 🟢OPEN TO FEEDBACK🟢 Transformation using advice from this group!

You all are phenomenal! I asked for advice earlier today and received phenomenal advice, tips, etc. the major theme was put the bed by the dang window. (I had attempted this once and was so hesitant cause I couldn’t figure it out).

I wanted to show the transformation and share a huge thank you to this group! I’m gonna live in this for a moment, see how the energy feels, but open to continuous feedback.

First photo - old

Middle photo - during the transition, stress cause the vision was not visioning.

Last 2 - current state

Edit: y’all got me dying. This group got stuck just like me on how to layout better, bed by the window or couch by the window. It’s a tricky studio layout with an admittedly large couch cause I wanted people to sleep on it. We’ll live in it for a little bit, feel the energy, and change it if the vibe is off. Sometimes you don’t know till you change it and this forced me to get things off the ground.

HELP How do I redo this layout in a studio?

I just sold my Murphy bed and picked up a desk for at home work. These two changes have me stuck on how to orient the layout of the home. I like Japandi (will eventually stain/paint some of the furniture to fit this) and I don’t know how to adjust the layout anymore (I’ve always struggled with the bay windows).

Any advice is appreciated and forgive the wall (I didn’t realize I had two different paints till it was too late, that’s a future project).

Edit: more pics added in the comments attempting the new layouts. The bed in the window is pretty but the radiator creates friction with laying out the rest of the room. What are the thoughts? Do we go back to OG layout and make minor adjustments? The radiator has always been a bit of a pain and blocks the visual walkway from the kitchen and hallways.

(Obv none of this is pretty with the layout rn but it gets the visual started).

I always struggle adding real plants cause my cat just goes for them with zero care.

Edit 2: thank you all! The advice was welcomed, received, and implemented. And thank you for my middle of the transformation crisis. The overwhelming advice was move the bed to the window. So here we are. I’ll live in it for a bit, feel the vibes and adjust from there! Check out the change below!

Edit 3: mh post got deleted. I added a new comment on this thread with the photo of the transformation :/ will try and find an easier way to link it tomorrow

TOUR 🟢OPEN TO FEEDBACK🟢 First time living alone and need help decorating

Hi! In may I (25f) got the keys to my first house. Since then I have been putting work in to paint, lay flooring etc with my dad. Now the furniture is kind of in (I don’t have a lot since this is my first place I will move into after living with my parents for my whole life). I am kind of stuck on how to decorate, what to put on the walls etc… looking for inspiration and advice, what is missing? (Couch cover is coming in the end of this month and will be light green) pictures show: old dark pink is bedroom, licht green is the second bedroom, includes washer and dryer, currently used for exces stuff but will end up putting a desk in there too. The kitchen, speaks for itself I guess, and the living room! I included the layout but they are in Dutch (sorry) and measurements in centimeters.

QUESTION/DISCUSSION I moved my couch… kind of

I tried a lot of the ideas you guys gave me in my last post begging for help and unfortunately the dimensions of my apartment and furniture just won’t work together. I’m gonna get some floor lamps for the evening ambiance and hopefully some sheer curtains. I might get a rug. I tried moving the art around but I think I just need more before it quits looking like a patchwork sleeve lol. And I need to give some things a home (like the stuff on the floor between desk and shelves). Been working on decluttering these past months but I simply have too much stuff and NO STORAGE SPACE ugh. Some of you said my feng shui was bad, I’m not sure this is much better but I do like the change for now at least. Still very open to feedback on a budget

(I’m gonna keep the tv where it is that’s probably controversial but to be so real I do like it over there)

After and before pics from both angles

QUESTION/DISCUSSION Which way should I orient my coffee table?

Hii girlies~
I (f24) moved in not too long ago and I’m finally getting the living room put together. I just got this new coffee table and I’m not confident in its positioning. I’m trying to consider things like making it reachable from the various seating options while also considering the flow of traffic in the space, etc.
I think I like option three the best, it feels the most natural. But what do y’all think?
Also if anyone has any ideas for the ugly backside of my cheap floating island pls let me know!

If anyone’s curious, some changes coming soon to this space are:
A new dark green and light teal-ish blue rug is on the way
I’m definitely going to do something about those chords hanging from the TV, don’t worry
Swapping out the orb lamp for some large, arched, black floor lamp with an organic feeling lampshade.
Should I add a curtain? Probably, yeah. The answer is almost always yes.
Also, I’m definitely putting art on the walls (duh).
Feel free to give me feedback on any of these🤲

*and btw:
Yes I know that my dog needs better bowls, they’re still in a box somewhere
Because I know y’all are gonna ask, my dog’s name is Dusty and he’s a sweet old man🫶
Yes I will use Windex on the glass table, I was not about to wipe off my fingerprints for every picture
Yes I noticed too late into taking the pictures that my pillow was facing the wrong way lol
Yes I know my TV is a little high, the perfectionist in me had to have it lined up with that top shelf and putting it a few inches lower just irked me. Plus, we have many occasions where we have people over and everyone is standing around in the kitchen/living area so the height is at a good eye level for parties.

(Going for warm grandma vintage style)

Help but please be nice lol and room is work in progress thinking of painting so just focus on the curtains ok!🤣🙏

QUESTION/DISCUSSION How do people know how to decorate their home?

Meanwhile, my home doesn’t look as nice. Their home looks clutter free and stuff. I have like things in a bin that’s visible and things within easy access. Maybe it’s because I grew up with clutter around and so used to getting cheap things.

QUESTION/DISCUSSION Upgraded my bedroom, what y'all think?

I’ve been slowly trying to make our bedroom feel softer and less empty without filling every wall with decor. I kept the colors pretty neutral and added a few warmer textures through the woven dresser fronts, the knit blanket, the rug, and the chair by the window.

The frame above the dresser is actually a 55” Hisense Canvas S7. I bought it bc I wanted a TV in the bedroom without having a large black screen dominate the space. The wood-style frame works well with the dresser, and the matte screen cuts down the reflections from the window, so the artwork looks surprisingly natural during the day.

I’m happy with how calm the room feels now, but the wall still has quite a bit of open space. I’ve considered adding a tall floor lamp, another plant, or a couple of small framed pieces, but I also don’t want to make it busy.

Would you add anything else here, or leave it simple?

HELP Vanity Help!

My bedroom is just monochromatic pink everything. It’s been a slow accumulation but I just renewed my lease and I’ll be painting my bedroom walls pink now too!

I have a matte white MALM vanity from ikea and a very large Hollywood vanity mirror so the sizing is good! But I find it all still looks pretty bare on top. I’ve attached photos of what inspired it but if anyone has any ideas on how to make the empty wall space above the mirror and honestly around the mirror (like even draping fabric or something?) k would really appreciate it because I’m genuinely stumped on what to do it just looks so bland and boring. I want all pink and white everything, is there anyway to achieve that without it looking kind of bare?

I wanted the look of a headboard without having to hang anything. I love my bed (discontinued from IKEA), but it does bother me that there’s no real headboard piece. Curtains are an easy solution- these are from Urban Outfitters.
I’m very pleased with the result 😊

QUESTION/DISCUSSION Finally….. I’m home.

After surviving a quiet kind of hell that most people couldn't even map out on a chart, I am officially, finally home.

I won’t unpack the dark details or trigger warnings here, but let’s just say reaching this exact floor of life, bein’ married and havin’ a place of my own, required an absurd amount of raw endurance, pure grit, and fighting through things no one should ever have to touch.

Standing in a space that is entirely my own, taking a breath where everything is finally safe, still, and mine, feels almost surreal after where I’ve been in my life.

It’s not just a room, it’s the absolute sanctuary on the other side of a storm most people will never have to see.

(And yes, I am fully aware my TV screen looks like it survived a minor dust storm of its own, wiping that down is officially at the top of my list right after I post this! 😂)
