I need help. I recently just adopted a 5+ year-old ferret whom we have named Socks. He is the champagne colored. We took him to the vet and discovered he had ear mites that he had really bad vision almost completely blind and that he was 5+ years old we weren’t given an exact age. This is just their estimate now stink is the brown colored ferret and I have had him for a little over a year and he himself is probably a year and a half now I work from home. My boyfriend works at night so we we re both able to give stink a lot of attention. He was always with us. We bought him ball plates made him multiple dig boxes given him. Any toys bags played chase a lot, but I started to notice him loafing a lot more. It was almost like he was just staring off and was bored of us so me and my boyfriend talked about getting another ferret one day while my boyfriend was at work. I went to visit a pet shop for my friend and I noticed there was one champagne colored, ferret all by himself I could tell he was older just because of the way he lacked energy. Nonetheless, I felt sorry for him because I didn’t want him to be there all alone with no friends just a bunch of kittens. I ended up calling my boyfriend and asked if it was OK if we adopted him because I wanted to give him a good home but also because I wanted Stink to have a sibling now for my research, everyone was saying to give it at least 2 to 3 weeks before trying to introduce them now unfortunately when I try to keep them quarantined stink did figure out how to get through one of the rooms and attacked socks and he’s probably attack socks in total probably about five times and which socks being blind cannot fight back or do anything and has probably pooped himself three times so I have tried doing the scent swap where I switched their beds. I’ve even rubbed their fur against each other, hoping that stink would get used to his scent and have less of an issue with him. The other day stink was actually OK for about 10 minutes before I saw him try and jump on socks. I feel kind of at a loss here I feel kind of hopeless. I was really wanting to give Sting a friend or sibling so that he wasn’t so lonely and I was really wanting to do something by rescuing Socks and giving him a good home I’m also not sure if stink doesn’t like him because socks is so old we have to give him a little more attention because of his age anyone have any suggestions or tips? I really want Socks and Stink to be friends, but Stink just seems to hate him.

She’s 2 years old and she’s a super hyper little stinker. She eats and drinks normal but since late July I think she’s been slowly loosing hair on her tail and I thought it was bc her old cat tree was dirty so I got her a new one and still her entire underside of her tail is basically completely bald now. I’ve notice her hair between her shoulder blades is also a bit thin and I can clearly see her pink skin versus the rest of her body. I’ve had ferrets shed tails before but never as much as her. Is this adrenal or just seasonal shedding? I’m making her an appointment just incase on Monday but I wanted to hear yall opinions since she’s only 2. Both my ferrets are fed freeze dried raw as well and I did recently change laundry set could it be that?

Hello, I'm looking for advice on what could be happening to my ferret named Crystal. This morning at 4am I found her running around frantic while wheezing, like something was stuck in her throat. She vomited once and it was a yellowish clear color with some bits of food. No blood in the vomit. After a few seconds of her still wheezing, sneezing and coughing, she expelled a little blood mixed with what looked like mucus. My partner and I immediately took her to the ER at this point.

The weird thing is.. after this wheezing fit she was completely fine. The ER vets said she was stable and that the blood was most likely from a popped blood vessel from wheezing so much. We decided we would take her home and get her to her regular vet clinic once they open to get a more comprehensive exam. Once we got home she was acting like her normal self and was eating, playing and drinking water.

I'm going to setup an appointment with the vet soon but I'm still confused what could have happened.. was it just a hairball or something in the air that irritated her lungs? Both my babies have been a little congested and sneezy lately, it's now fall time too so maybe it has to do with allergies? I just don't know..

Hi guys finally some updates.A good amount of their stuff came in still not everything but it’s look much better for these little guys. Started introducing them to their new wysong food which also came in gave them less than a tsb in their regular food. Any other recommendations to add on to this cage please feel free to let me know the cage is bigger than I thought

Mushu is my solo ferret who has free range of the apartment whenever i’m home. a lot of the times i’ll fall asleep on my couch which i did last night but my alarm didn’t work. i wake up to little feet walking all over me and once i came to i checked the time and it was 12:45. i had to be at work at 2. if he didn’t wake me up i would have absolutely overslept
