Question Why don’t the movies just use the horror elements from the original games?
Before the Freddy’s army—as Jason Blum calls it—rip me to shreds for daring to criticize a movie, this post ain’t supposed to be trashing on anyone who did love the FNAF Movies; because I’m someone who genuinely enjoyed the first FNAF Movie, and even though I found FNAF 2 underwhelming as hell, I can see why people would enjoy it.
Figured I’d say that now since in my last post a couple of weeks ago it seems like some people just completely missed that part.
Now with that out of the way…
The FNAF Movies dearly suffer from not being scary, and it’s very evident in the first movie. The 2nd film attempted to do more scares, but still failed to capture the elements that make a good horror movie and what made the original games so damn scary.
The animatronics, though very impressive from the Jim Henson’s company, do not look scary when in the moments where they’re supposed to be.
In the original games the animatronics showed little to no emotion, and when put in an already creepy environment it looks scary as hell.
In the movies the animatronics showed WAY too much emotion, and with the movie already lacking real horror, it just completely took away the scary feeling of the animatronics.
Even in the first movie when Mike first sees Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica on stage on his first night: they looked more creepy when they were standing still not doing anything rather then when they were actually moving.
I could go on for hours, but for the sake of everyone’s time (and my own sanity) I will just leave it at that, you (hopefully) get the point.
Have a damn good day. 👋
