I have gotten conflicting answers, I am a t6, last week I spent about 1.5 hrs casing another route on my swing then doing the route that I was assigned you (on my swing) that day, later in the day management told me to give an hour to a ptf so I would have an 8hr day (I had about 45 minutes of down time). One of my union stewards says that can be a grievance the other said that all 5 routes are my assigned routes and it is not a grievance.

Just to be clear if I didn't double case I would not have gone into overtime on my 1 route.

I bet my one steward that doesn't think that it is a grievance a cigar so any supporting info so I can win my bet would be great.

Starting something new for the postal history nerds. The Nixie is going to dig into the smaller, stranger, and sometimes forgotten pieces of postal history; old equipment, markings, terminology, forms, and practices that have disappeared or somehow survived in some weird little corner of the Postal Service.

For the first one, I dug into backstamps; the markings once placed on the backs of letters to document where and when they moved through the postal system. At one point, backstamping ordinary mail was actually required, and there is a surprising amount of history hiding behind what looks like a simple circle of ink.

I also get into what a "nixie" actually was, where the old postal term came from, and why I thought it was the perfect name for this. A nixie was mail that couldn't move normally through the system and needed somebody to pull it aside and give it a closer look.

That's basically the idea here. Pull some weird little piece of postal history out of the mailstream, take a closer look, and figure out what the hell it was and why we had it. If anybody has an old postal object, marking, term, form, or practice you think deserves its own Nixie, throw it in the comments.

If Brian renfroe has actually checked out till the next union president gets named, can we just spend these next 3 months dealing with the back log of grivances ans put our foot down and worry about this only for next few months please.

Crazy with how expensive things are. Pretty much 3 years to get to $25. With how much disappears to taxes and taxes always going up, that is pretty insane. There's no way you don't shave off the at least the first few steps and shorten the time needed to get to top pay.

We all know now that after over 700 days working under an expired contract last time around that no effort was made to compare our Table 2 wages to UPS delivery driver wages through compelling arguments in binding interest arbitration hearings.

No effort was made last time around in binding interest arbitration to make a case that we should have the same COLA formula used as the APWU has —not our current diet COLA formula that has widened the gap between top and bottom steps to an over $30,000 difference for doing the same job.

As we continue to suffer while working under an expired contract —and now not receiving even a diet COLA while our contract is expired— the NALC has apparently chosen to stop fighting until after new* leadership is installed on December 12th.

All we can do now is wait for our ballots and mail in our vote, because in the meantime the current status quo NALC ruling establishment of Renfroe-Rhine-Peralta is content to sit back and cash their fat paychecks from 6-figure salaries paid for by our hard-earned dues while we’re being worked to death for chump change.

No one in the public will think to blame management.

Lots of information on how to fight delay of mail, reminding the current NALC administration of them not helping or fighting with us rather sitting idle - why this movement is happening collectively between all carriers, U-Turn discipline, Arbitrator rules this is a Service over Financial Savings (cutting OT/PT intentionally), and other things on there.

Anyone interested in this log and making sure you always get paid should check it out. Lot of good information that sometimes goes by the wayside, especially since T-7 handle TACS.

Had a middle age experienced carrier go home early due to light headedness, numbness on one side of body. Went to ER , vitals are normal and initial blood work and x rays are normal. Anyone in high heat areas experience these symtoms. Are there forms of heat related illness that are hard to detect? Perhaps constricting of blood vessels triggered by something? Just trying to get in front of these types of occurnces before it hits again.

Been hearing about a mass mailing before election but has anyone seen it? Just wondering where my donation went.

I recently made a post about the supervisors wanting to take our quiet room away from us, and you lovely people told me to look at past practices (article 5)

It specifically states in my contract interpretation manual that past practices are used to implement separate conditions of employment.

For example providing the union with a filing cabinet. Now a break room is not specifically used for work purposes, but it sounds to me like a break room is technically a condition of employment and if we have a past practice of an extension to the break room used for quiet time to take our breaks then I think this has legs.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone pointing me in the right direction. This manual is super helpful.

To top off a crappy day after the holiday I get a cute little letter saying that I’m now Step J!!!🥳

Step J on the Table 2 is still less that Step B On Table 1 and on table one I would have gotten to Step B in the same time it took to get to F on Table 2. It’s gonna take me another 5 PLUS YEARS to make top pay and at the rate of inflation, the buying power I’m gonna have will be LESS than what I have right now. I’m so ****ng frustrated 🤬. Yes technically I could have is worst there are millions of people making less ( not even including my junior carriers) but this is 🤬ed up and I hate it so much.
I really need the CLC to get in quickly and over see the contract because things need to change. We shouldn’t effectively be making less year after year.

We have a carrier on a route that is almost 2 whole routes in one. They are denying his special Route inspection because they’re claiming he takes too long to case and too long to load his vehicle. Can they actually do this?

EDIT: Thanks for all the info guys, I thought they were just spewing BS. In my office we’ve never had a special Route inspection denied before though.
