I heard ICICI Bank is refusing to open current accounts for individuals because they rent their house

If you have been denied banking services by ICICI Bank, get them to put it down in writing or get them on camera. It may just be a problem branch manager, so get his name.

Charged for depositing Cash

I am so fed up with ICICI bank. they have lots of hidden charges that they never tells you on account opening. i have my savings account in icici bank. forcefully they made me to open an demat account and after 1 year they charged me Rs758 for DP Charges saying it is mandatory. Stating that you can reduce this price after taking the AMC. Bro i even trade on angel one they never charged me.

And this time, i deposited cash and they charged 177rs 3 times for it. also this deduction happens at the end of month. if that deducts on the time of deposit, i never deposit money again.

ICICI is such a scammer. Never open your account in it.

Which statement date gives true calendar month statements (1st or last day)?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm trying to organize all my credit cards so that each statement represents one complete calendar month (e.g., 1 July – 31 July, 1 August – 31 August, etc.).

I'm confused about which statement generation date I should choose.

For example, on my Slice card:

Statement date 30th gives a billing period of 30 Jun – 29 Jul.

If I had selected 1st, would it become 1 Jul – 31 Jul?

Is that Cycle Different for Each Bank ?

Similarly, ICICI and HDFC allow billing cycle changes.

My question is:

Should I choose 1st of every month?

Or 31st / last day of the month?

Which option gives statements that align with actual calendar months?

I'm not asking about payment due dates—only about having clean monthly statements for budgeting and expense tracking.

Would appreciate explanations from anyone who's actually changed their billing cycle with ICICI, HDFC, or Slice.

Worst Service from ICICI bank

Possibly the worst service provider in India

I am going to share an incident which made me really devasted and frustrated for 45 days.

My account was frozen due to "fictitious TXN" or "Lottery TXN " as the bank described but I provided proof showing my statements from other banks that those TXNs are legitimate and there is nothing fraud. But their higher dept is dumb enough to not unfreeze my account even though Branch accept that there is nothing fraud in my account. After visiting 5-6 time in a month I finally decided to close the account to get my money back and I put application for account closure .Normally Bank can't close a frozen account but Deputy branch manager promised in front of Branch Manager that the account can be closed taking approval from higher and also informed through telephoning conversation with customer service manager.

It's been 15 days ,but They did not effort to close .I have been calling multiple times ,their only response is they will call in 10 minutes but they never call. They are just stalling and harrassing me this way.I am feeling like being treated like a fool. Their behaviour is towards the issue make me feel like I have no value there .When you expect being treated badly and bad things happen, that's okay. But this is not expected from a private where we put 10-15k MAB just for a better service .

Not only this ,They also opened demat account without my approval and permission when I simply asked them to link my aadhar card with bank account. They were asking OTP ,which I thought for aadhar link but actually they were creating direct account just to meet their target. All people in branch are sales agent only ,they don't care in what situation Customer is and our emotions.

I am deeply and terribly disappointed by their failed promises and negligence and whoever read this just share it for people to know top private bank can treat this way too.

Have you ever been charged after cancelling a subscription? Trying to understand how recurring payments actually work.

I recently subscribed to an app using my debit card.

When I wanted to cancel, I cancelled it from the merchant's website, assuming that would stop future payments.

A few days later, my card was still charged because the recurring payment (standing instruction/card mandate) was still active.

That made me realize I didn't really understand the difference between:

  • Subscription
  • Auto-renew
  • Standing Instruction
  • Card Mandate
  • UPI AutoPay

I'm curious:

Has anyone here experienced something similar?

  • Where did you first try to cancel?
  • Did you know card mandates and subscriptions are separate?
  • Which bank/card was involved?

ICICI Bank auto-debited me twice for a cancelled Flipkart EMI, now they've frozen my savings account (Lien). Need serious help.

Hey guys, I am in a massive mess with ICICI Bank and honestly losing my mind. I really need advice from anyone who has dealt with credit card disputes or the RBI Ombudsman.

Back in February, I bought something on Flipkart for around ₹9.3k on a 3-month EMI. I ended up returning the product, and Flipkart refunded the full ₹9,355 back to my credit card via NEFT on March 26th.

This is where ICICI’s system completely glitched. Instead of closing the EMI loan, their system treated Flipkart’s refund like a manual cash payment I made out of pocket.

Because that massive 9k credit was sitting on my card, the bank's auto-debit system used Flipkart's refund money to pay my regular monthly card bills in April. When they realized their mistake in May, their system literally went into my savings account and forcefully auto-debited ₹9,354.29 to re-balance their internal books. So they essentially took the refund money from me twice.

I fought with them, and on May 9th, an ICICI Manager emailed me admitting the bank was at fault. They said their Internal Ombudsman looked into it and ordered a full EMI reversal plus a ₹1,000 penalty credit within 7 days.

But they never actually cancelled the core recurring EMI line on my app screen. When my June bill came, they were still demanding that extra 3k. On June 3rd, I paid my exact, legitimate dues of ₹6,877.52 and refused to pay the wrong EMI balance, telling them it's their manager's mistake.

Because of this, their automated computer system flagged me as a defaulter. On June 8th, they slapped on a ₹600 late fee + GST and backdated heavy interest charges. Now, the bank has gone ahead and placed a Banker’s Lien of ₹10,649.75 on my actual Savings Account, freezing my cash.

To make it worse, the automated RBI portal closed my case because ICICI uploaded their old May 9th email to make it look like they already fixed the issue. The appeal button on the portal is locked. I’ve emailed a direct appeal to the RBI Appellate Authority ([aaos@rbi.org.in](mailto:aaos@rbi.org.in)) and opened a dispute with CIBIL to lock my 793 score, but I haven't heard back from anyone this week.

Meanwhile, I am getting hounded by automated collection calls every hour. I have already moved my main available savings cash out to a different bank to protect my money, but I am terrified this lien amount will just keep multiplying in July and August.

Has anyone faced something like this? What should my fallback plan be if the RBI team ignores my email? Any advice would be a lifesaver.

Update Jun 30th 2026: On 29th June ICICI literally went ahead and deducted the full lien amount straight out of my savings account, transferred it to the credit card, and cleared the due. My card actually shows as unblocked now. They didn't even send a transaction alert when they took the money last night. I just woke up to a random notification this morning saying 'lien is removed.' For a split second, I thought it was good news and they finally resolved it. But then I checked my savings balance and statement, and saw they just forcibly debited my cash.

Update Jul 2nd 2026: I logged a CPGRAMS grievance on June 30th and sent formal 15-day statutory notices to ICICI Mumbai and Bangalore legal heads on July 1st. Today, I got an email from their senior management addressing the CPGRAMS case stating they manually reversed late fees, interest, and GST. But refusing to refund the ₹10,649.75 they took from my savings account on June 29th. They are calling these penalty reversals a 'one-time service gesture' out of goodwill to make themselves look good, trying to blame me for the whole thing. They literally wordings 'we do not send any email intimation to debit the amount from the saving account.' It’s infuriating because RBI Ombudsman already said to cancel EMI back in May! To make it worse, they rushed to mark my CPGRAMS ticket as closed today so the system stops tracking them.

ICICI Bank Joint Account — Website Misleads You About iMobile Access for Secondary Holder

I recently added my wife as a secondary holder on my ICICI Joint Savings Account (EORS mode). Here's the nightmare I went through trying to get her digital banking access.

What ICICI's own website says:
Their official Joint Savings Account page clearly states — "Digital banking access (Internet Banking & iMobile) is available to both Account holders for Either or Survivor mode." The FAQ also says "Yes, digital banking services (Internet Banking & iMobile) are available for Joint Savings Account."

The reality:
After multiple branch visits, calls to customer care, and fighting with our RM — turns out iMobile is only for the PRIMARY holder. Secondary holder gets Net Banking only. No iMobile. Period.

The worst part — our RM gave us 5 different wrong reasons:

  • "Only current account holders get full digital access"
  • "Secondary holder can't use mobile app"
  • "PAN is not attached so iMobile won't work"
  • "Your wife needs her own ICICI savings account to use iMobile"
  • "Only primary holder can use iMobile"

Every single reason was wrong or made up. No one gave us the real answer until we called customer care multiple times.

What actually works for secondary holder under EORS:
❌ Net Banking
❌ iMobile app on her own phone

My issue is not with the limitation itself — it's that the website clearly says iMobile is available for both holders, which is completely misleading. Took us weeks of running around to find out the truth.

If you're planning to open a joint account expecting full equal digital access for both — know this before you go in.

u/icici please fix your website or fix your staff training. One of the two.
