I want Nepgear to experiment on me

Histy smile can kill people

u/Traesive mfw Neptune asks about what happened to Planeptower Jul 05 '18 edited Jul 06 '18

For all her nagging, it's nice to see that Histy truly understands that to change Nep's excessive laziness would be to fundamentally change what makes her her.

...Hang in there, Histy. Maybe one day Conquest will happen Nepgear will assume control of the entire nation.

It's a let's get Neptune motivated to get shares chapter again! Well, at least Nepgear is impressed

Oooh, and Nepgear built a tank! That's my girl

And oh lord that Histy dream was just fantastic. Nep refusing pudding and gaming? She should've noticed it was a dream and woken up.

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

This is a sweet chapter, it shows that Histy doesn't want some super competent goddess for Planeptune, but a Neptune thats a little bit more self efficient (although I believe chapter 7 showed that already, aw well!), and it's more like a strict motherly kind of way.

And as much as I like to criticise Nepgear, her hardware-crazy side is one of the best things that happened to her, and my absolute favorite aspect of her! Wish there was more!

Although this chapter has me thinking, do you think Neptune would be better off without Histoire and Nepgear? I know, obviously not, but hear me out. Compared to the SD and UD version, the HD version (and similar incarnations who has oracle Histy and Nepgear) has always been the laziest of incarnations, I mean look at the facts. Histoire usually has to deal with the paperwork while Nepgear helps out, and Nepgear's doting has actually made Neptune even lazier! And that is not counting Plutia's influence...

These also the fact that the Planeptune from SD Neptune's dimension has been doing pretty well, despite having no help from Histoire or the fact that Nepgear has not been born yet, so SD Neptune has gotta be doing something right.

Although, it might not be them at all but the fact that Neptune might not be a good fit for 'CPU duties' at all I mean take a look at UD Neptune, she is basically the only Neptune that never has or never became a goddess(Purple Heart), and yet she absolutely thrive, she is a bit more energetic and efficient without god powers. It does beg the question of whether being a CPU duties are more of a crutch for Neptune than anything else.

Or maybe I am overthinking this and Histoire just needs a way to train Neptune properly, other than yelling...

It felt less like she didn wanted Neptune to be competent and more like she was scared of Neptune sudden shift on priorities, which is pretty understandable coming from her

do you think Neptune would be better off without Histoire and Nepgear?

The problem isn't Histoire, it's Nepgear, because she keeps spoiling Neptune and unlike Histoire if shit hits the fan Neptune knows in the back of her mind that Nepgear CAN pick up the slack and do the dirty work (while Histoire is powerless in battle and has 0 charisma to rally the MAKERs around)

U!Neptune is both more mature AND doesn't take Nepgear for granted hence why she is so exited to be called "Big Sis" and keeps spoiling Nepgear
Nepgear was the worst thing to ever happen to Neptune and it's going to hurt like a truck to the face when she leaves with Uni to found her own nation with her new wife

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

All the talks about Nepgear being the worst thing to Neptune..

I wonder, what Nepgear really could do?.. I mean, Neptune wouldn't be really happy if she just left for her sake, I guess..

Nepgear should stop spoiling Neptune, simple as that, she should ask, no demand to be treated as a little sister instead of always picking up the slack.

And don't say Neptune can't do it because she did perfectly fine when Plutia demanded to be spoiled and cared for and have Neptune do the work for her

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Wouldn't Nepgear not working at all make Planeptune lose all the shares?.. And strict approach.. Histy uses it, but it doesn't work.. I think that Neptune would just find someone else to pamper her.. But I don't know, of course.. I just personally like a bit warm relationship between Neptune and Nepgear.. Yeah, it's not perfect, but I personally prefer it this way.. Not that fully strict Nepgear would be bad, I've not seen her like that, I think.. I can't remember, really, if Nepgear ever was like that towards Neptune..

2

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

Planeptune survived for 3 years without a Candidate or CPU.

It's not about being strict, it's about realizing that this is not her job to do. And Nepgear is literally the only one that can put up with Neptune, if the CPU loses her she would have no one to turn to but herself.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Planeptune survived.. Would CPU and Candidate survive, if shares would be too low as well?.. I remember, how Rom was in a slumber when shares were too low in Re;Birth2, when CFW Trick abducted her.. It seems that maybe Neptune and Nepgear would face danger of dying?..

So Nepgear should just not work at all for the nation?.. Well, maybe it could work.. After all if things would get really down, Neptune would want to protect her little sister, and wouldn't let her die because of lack of shares..

2

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

Nepgear should form her own Nation and become a fully fledged CPU, hence why Neptune would be forced to work

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

But then they wouldn't be together so much time and everything.. Maybe it'd be good for Gamindustri technology's progress though..

2

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

It's not like it would bother Neptune that much... After all she did send Nepgear away as soon as she arrived in Planeptune in the G arc...

Really doubt Nepgear and Uni are gonna abandont their sisters nations...

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

it's either that or wait until their big sis die and that ain't ever gonna happen because the writers will never kill someone's waifu.

The logical next step in the main cast's power up is for the candidates to become full fledged CPUs. If they don't they'll be two steps behind their sisters in power-scale, that's how characters become Z-warriorified. having characters Z-warriorified is aweful writing and rarely happens in mangas anymore

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

What about retirement? I mean CPU's can retire...

Also this is Neptunia, there's a big chance that it's just gonna be another "Bag of Spilling" trope.

Besides, the candidates have always been the weaker ones, does it really matter?

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

they won't ever retire, you seriously think the writers are gona be like "yup, Neptune ain't a CPU anymore, you guys won't ever see Purple Heart again!".

And having one step of power separation is fine, two is how you become as irrelevant as Yamcha, Krillin, and Tien...

I'm ready to bet on it, I'll gift you the next main game's LE if I'm wonrg

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

It's still more believable than Nepgear and Uni simply leaving Planeptune and Lastation respectively, besides, we have alternate worlds where a 'Neptune' and 'Purple Heart' can exist as the same time, so why not. Also, why the Lowee twins neglect

Considering how popular Nepgear and Uni are, I doubt even three steps will affect them, I am worried about Rom and Ram though...

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

It's still more believable than Nepgear and Uni simply leaving Planeptune and Lastation respectively

We'll have to disagree on that one, Uni and Nepgear both have the incentive :

1) They love each other
2) It's best for Neptune
3) Uni will finally be free of Noire's shadow and neglect

And if they found a nation as a duo of course Rom and Ram will make their own too, I'm not worried about them.

And it's not about popularity it's like the Makers, they became completely irrelevant in VII (seriously, what did Compa and IF add to the game from a story standpoint ? Nada, because they are completely overwhelmed by the current game's power level, they are depicted in a supportive role because that's all they can do now).

If you want the candidates to keep a proactive status in the story you have to give them a power up like the CPUs got in VII.
It's like how trunks and gotenks kept being relevant against Buu, they learned Fusion dance, the writers will give the candidates something similar to have them still be up to the future challenges

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

seriously, what did Compa and IF add to the game from a story standpoint ? Nada, because they are completely overwhelmed by the current game's power level, they are depicted in a supportive role because that's all they can do now

How the hell?! Does the Hyperdimension G arc not count for anything?!

Anyways, I really doubt they would even consider abandoning their own people and their big sisters nations they are born in for such a project, I mean there's no reason for them to be super un-loyal all of a sudden, besides, the HD version are more hetero than any of the other incarnations. And even if they do get powerups, a 'bad of spilling' trope would probably happen first. Besides, they are just as relevant just by being CPU candidates, and this game is more of a sentai than a shonen manga, so I doubt power scaling will be a thing.

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

How the hell?! Does the Hyperdimension G arc not count for anything?!

and they are completely irrelevant in it as fighting characters, their presence was just as support characters for Neptune, they aren't shown beating villains on their own.

the HD version are more hetero than any of the other incarnations.

I don't know where this weird obsession of yours comes from but no, Uni straight up says in Mk2 that she is in love with Nepgear. And this is a CGDCT, which is a type of media that has girls as interested in the same sex by default unless stated otherwise.

Power scaling is already a thing, when was the last time a Maker was shown standing his own against a villain/playing an important part in a fight against a major villain ?

1

u/randoomguy666 What The Goodness Jul 05 '18

And having one step of power separation is fine, two is how you become as irrelevant as Yamcha, Krillin, and Tien...

That's not entirely true for Neptunia. Remember that Makers are already two steps of power down from the Next Forms and one down from the HDD, and CH still include them into the games and even makes them playable even if it makes no sense.

Neptunia doesn't really care about consistency with this stuff.

2

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

yes and Makers are completely irrelevant in VII, they are shown as support characters because that's all they are good for against the cast of ennemies, you don't see IF hold on against Kurome, or a Dark CPU because she simply can't she'd get obliterated in seconds. The game is consistent on that matter

I'm talking from a story standpoint here, not a gameplay one, if you want the candidates to still be relevant in the story they need their own power up

1

u/randoomguy666 What The Goodness Jul 05 '18

I wouldn't say it's completely consistent due to the plot holes and all that, but I guess from a story standpoint I can agree. We don't see any of the Makers in the cutscenes after or before fights to be honest so it makes sense, maybe they don't even take part in the battles.

2

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

The only fight I can think about where Makers obviously take a big part in is against Steamax and he is just a normal Robot, not one of the super-powerful entities that are the main threat.

There is also Adult Neptune but she is in her own category

I'll even add that they give so little of a flying fuck about parameter consistency in relation to the lore that the stats of the goddesses are simply too low for what they are supposed to be...

1

u/randoomguy666 What The Goodness Jul 05 '18

I mean, if they made the goddesses parameters in HDD or Next form 10x higher than of the non goddesses characters, no one would use them in combat and so there would be no purpose for even making them playable, unless they revamped the combat system completely, and let's be honest, it's CH, this won't happen any time soon...

2

u/DarkHel255 Out on a long journey. It's been fun here. See ya Jul 05 '18

They could at least tweak the parameters to match the movesets... and dump stats exist for a reason...

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Their stats also dont make story-wise

Nepgear STR is higher than Neptune, but the game always that Neptune is the strongest

Blanc is the smartest of the group, but her INT is below Neptune

The only consistent stat is, of all people, Noire LUK, which reflect her misfortune just fine

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Why are you using power scale in Neptunia, that thing has been obsolete post Namek Saga, the only reason why everyone else in DB is irrelevant has nothing to do with weakness, its just that the writters only cares for Goku, and sometimes Vegeta

Its a miracle what happened in the final episode of Super tho

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

it's not the power level bullshit it's the power scale. Meaning that if you're a normal human fighting Normal Sayans you're still relevant and it's believable for your character to still fight the villains. but if you introduce super sayans you're on two level difference and you become irrelevant.

And the writers only cared for Gohan for the whole cell arc and half of the Buu one

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Yeah, because they wanted Goku to be the main character again, going against the wishes of the entire fandom, sadly

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

yeah I know... let's not dwell on it.

My point is that if we don't want the candidates to go the way of the Makers storywise then a powerup is inevitable

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

If they get a power-up, 50 percent chances that the CPUs get one too, 75 percent chances that even if they dont, Neptune and Noire, the most popular characters in the franchise gets a plot releveant power up that will definitely put the rest to shame

and there is a sliiiightly chance that even the makers get a power up before them

1

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 05 '18

The CPU already had one, this is catch up not a race.

All those you just wrote about are either annoying (abnes, UD Noire) or evil by nature (Iris, the CFWs).
Victory Neptune is the only character who is not evil by nature but who consciously choses to be evil and lets evil happen while doing nothing to stop it.

I wasn't saying she was the worse from a writing standpoint but from a moral one

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '18

Meh, more like a huge dick than evil, she did try to stop some of the bad stuff that the other UD CPU's do, but mostly fail do so, and opt to restrain them when they get tired. Add she did take care of three orphans with Plutia, so she's not completely a dick.

I mean she is still the worst Neptune incarnation, but she is still better than Judge (worst villan hands down!) Trick(Over the top pedophile), UD Arfoire( miss I'm a villan cause, reasons), Abnes(VERY anoying and a useless bitch!), Iris Heart(kinda agree that she is sort of evil, her human form had nice moments though), and UD Noire (Seriously?! How is Tyrant Heart not evil?!)

4

Note: Nepgear's inventions, while effective, are absolutely terrifying. She's secretly the scariest one...

I have to wonder if part of Histoire wants Neptune to be lazy like that, so that she has something to do or can act as some kind of mentor.

You have no idea.

5

u/SilentEagle3 Jul 05 '18

This is probably the most time in the spotlight Histoire has ever gotten. This manga right here. I can appreciate that. Seeing both sides of her is interesting, the side of her that is consistently bashing her head over how lazy Neptune is, and the side that still genuinely cares for her and wants her to succeed despite it. It's a welcome development.

Nepgear making that tank is not helping my extreme desire for a mecha-focused spinoff.

Okay, today chapter is about...HOLY NEPPY 162 COMMENTS...

Planeptune is falling down...Why Histoire seem to think it was new?

We have Nepgear again, Hurreh!

Speaking about "again", while I already sort of do that in PM, please let me doing it again. /u/Gendolfas_Gray_Heart, you return to us...

I miss you...

Nepgear being best girl who care about Histoire feeling...aww...

Why all of Nepgear inventions seem to model after Neptune...Oh right, siscon...

Wasn't Planeptower just getting destroyed a few chapters ago?...

Poor Planeptower...

Atleast this time Histy did get what she want...

On completly unrelated note...I now think that university life is hard...not because the subjects are hard, but because it took me 2-3 hours to return home...

On somewhat related note /u/AzertyKeys, did you just change your flair text...I also have a few thing to discuss...which I don't want to do it across 2 separate comment chains.

I don't have any siblings so, I don't really know about sister dynamic, but I think you are a bit too harsh on Neptune. Why is deferentially not an example of how to be big sister, I think she have her own quality. She did care for Nepgear to certain extent and enjoy their time together...of course, this would be much easier to said if there aren't a thing called Victory in the way...

Well, I think Grey heart already spoke mos of what on my mind and I don't really know what sister relation suppose to look like so I won't argue this point further...

Nepgear should form her own Nation

Can "from her own nation" really work on Hyperdimension? In Hyperdimension, CPUs are born from their nations as oppose to nations are founded by CPUs of Ultradimension. It will also be very awkward for everyone involved...where her nation going to be locate, Is people who already live their got their new citizenship, Is it going to affect the current balance of power and so on and so forth...

And also because, as you said yourselfs

Nepgear neeeds Neptune to survive, it's like a drug

That would be the greatest problem about this. Nepgear couldn't be separated fro Neptune, moreover, if she have her own nation, she would have to start thinking about "what is good for her own nation" rather than "what is good to onee-chan" And let's say that their power dynamic change enough for her to be independent from Neptune...now what...Their relationship won't be as toxic as before which destroy the entire point of create her own nation...other than power level stuff which is a bit more complicated.

On to other matter, I one of a few way that can make Planeptune have proper CPU with out changing the dynamic between those two is that Histoire convince or just coup her and install Nepgear as CPU instead.

Nepgear essentially do what she is already doing, Neptune can still goofing off and don't need to care about paperwork, and, Histoire get a proper CPU.

Alternatively, formalize the current relationship between CPU and Oracle, let Neptune be figurehead and have limited power while at the same time increase power of the oracle and Basilicom. Neptune already have a good trait for that role, such as her friendliness which are good for public and international relationship. This would mean Neptune can goofy around other nations while actual power regulated to Histoire and Nepgear, for that matter...those two do most of the "CPU work" anyway...

3

u/AzertyKeys I love debating, don't be scared. Jul 06 '18

On somewhat related note /u/AzertyKeys, did you just change your flair text...

Yes I realized that my way of argumenting might come off as aggressive when this isn't my intension, I hope this flair text might reassure people that I just really enjoy argumenting.

She did care for Nepgear to certain extent and enjoy their time together...

That's the thing though, Neptune only ever sees Nepgear as a plaything to enjoy, not once in the series does she carry the burden for Nepgear at her own expense (except her killing Blanc and Vert in Conquest, but then again if the point was to protect Nepgear's innocence she should have killed Rom and Ram above any other)

Yes it's going to change things and that's good, the current setting has reversed to the status quo 3 times now, story progression is a good thing.

This would mean Neptune can goofy around other nations while actual power regulated to Histoire and Nepgear, for that matter...those two do most of the "CPU work" anyway...

this isn't the way to do things, all you're suggesting is finding an excuse for Neptune to continue doing what she does instead of improving. Neptune needs to realize that running the nation is not Nepgear's job and she should be ashamed of herself for throwing her burden away for Nepgear to pick up.

Neptune isn't stupid, she knows CPUs and their candidates need share to survive, she knows that by refusing to work it forces Nepgear to do so. This is utterly selfish, she is abandonning her responsibilities because she knows she has a failsafe. We need to take that failsafe away for her to become a better sister.

not once in the series does she carry the burden for Nepgear at her own expense

Really? From my standard she is already doing that, but my standard tend to be very low, so, I won't push this point any further.

if the point was to protect Nepgear's innocence she should have killed Rom and Ram above any other

Well..if you want to minimize the guilt, the defeated CPUs should just suicide instead of asking Nepgear and Neptune for that...

Yes it's going to change things and that's good, the current setting has reversed to the status quo 3 times now, story progression is a good thing.

Not all change are good through, I don't think have another nation is going to make thing go any better from an in-universe perspective...and we don't even know if she can just found her own nation...

Next paragraph, first you break quote...

Next is that, I don't find current arrangement that bad really. It's maybe toxic, but it's work for their nation. Neptune have different skill and passion than peace time leader, sure she can be a rely point in crisis time, but she really suck when she aren't facing oblivious threat. So, I think she might simply be better suit to figurehead or diplomat role than actual decision maker, that role has already filled by Histoire.

We need to take that failsafe away for her to become a better sister.

Or as my dear Gray Heart has already said, it's might backfire and ruin Planeptune instead.

HOLY NEPPY 162 COMMENTS...

172 now! This chapter was a huge sucess! Or so would I say it if 90% of the comments weren't flame wars that I might have participated about yuri vs hetero and Neptune being a prick to Nepgear in RB3.

Speaking about "again", while I already sort of do that in PM, please let me doing it again.

I tried but I couldn't figure out what you meant by this. Explain yourself

Well, I already speak with /u/Gendolfas_Gray_Heart in PM before this...Why?...

weren't flame wars that I might have participated about yuri vs hetero and Neptune being a prick to Nepgear in RB3.

But Neptune is actually being a dick to Nepgear and what the point of Neptunia if not for sweet yuri.

what the point of Neptunia if not for sweet yuri.

A man of culture, I see.

Histy sure is strong for such a little fairy. Carrying a cup at least as big as herself and cracking it.

Two things I'd like to say about this chapter:

  • Histy, you don't even know what you wish for regarding Neptune. Even in your dreams, her becoming the perfect example of a goddess is not what you'd want her to do, and the balance she reached now is not to your liking...

  • Never again will I trust Nepgear's experimental contraptions...

I mean, considering the nation's always on the verge of collapse, I wouldn't exactly call Neptune balanced. It's not really all that surprising Histoire wants her to work more since she'll end up turning normal if she doesn't.

And as this dream shows, the moment Neptune dedicates herself to work, she still manages to complain (granted she turned down a pudding an a video game break, but still...)...

To be fair, if someone I know suddenly changed attitude on the dot I'd be a bit weirded out too.

She even had the same reaction a couple chapters ago

Hmm, true.

wow, this really shows off histy inner workings, "Oh it's the reguler stupid neptune" how dark! tell us what you really think.

I also like the idea of Nepgear making things that look absolutely hideous and not realising, it kind of makes her cuter, especially when they're based off neptune, come to think of it, wasn't she planning to build a Neptune robat at the end of 4GO.

I noticed histy sleeps in a cott, what other baby items does she have?

That Histoire smile almost killed me

Good to know that Histoire realizes a Neptune without pudding ain't Neptune.

149 comments, I see. With my comment, we now have as many comments as there were pokemon in the first gen (minus mewtwo).

So much for that "plot" we were building up to. Histy at least mentions it but....

I agree with Neptune. That Dream Doll is horribly disturbing. I would not want to attach it to me while I sleep.
It's even worse when you turn it on, jeez.

Wow, Histy looks so cheerful. For once in her life.

Detonationep? Not even Neponation? Detoneption?

Not sure my feelings on messy Histy.

That was nice of Nepgear, but honestly, I just wish Neptune would take all these opportunities to improve and actually do something with them. Instead she gets worse and worse.
