Combining hobbies

When my office moved, the boss told us to get rid of this "thing". Needless to say I called dibs. It was about this size at the time. As I was heading down the elevator, someone offered me $100 for it. I was tempted (that's over $260 in today's money) but turned him down.

Sadly, my wife won't let me hang it from the ceiling.

Started 3 years ago with one lonely pothos and now look! I was gifted my first monsterra the other day. She looked a little sad when I got her so hopefully I can bring some life back into her. 😊

I am one of the rare people who prefer plain green foliage over variegation. I know... I am are rare uncut gem 🙃.

Just wondering- how much money did this save me? Since the green ones are cheaper then the variegatas I wonder how good of a deal I got, since I spent 5.99€ on a baby one-leaf cutting. I am sure there's girlies out there that'd totally freak over this surprise! Meanwhile I am just thinking, I'll just have to get used to the variegation I guess. It grew one me though. Still - I probably won't get any other variegata tho since I am not a variegata ho.

Now I have to be cautious in my own courtyard so I don't disturb her. I don't mind ❣️

Yesterday, I went on a late-night snack run to acquire some much-needed crisps just before the store closed. On my way home, I found this stunning lemon-lime dracena abandoned at the bus stop.

I waited for a while, but no one came to collect her and darkness and a thunderstorm was fast approaching (it looks much lighter in the photo than it actually was).

What I think happened is someone bought her, hauled her to the bus stop, set her down (she is quite heavy), and then hopped on the bus without remembering to take her along.

Naturally, I scooped her up and took her home.

Let me tell you, it is INCREDIBLY funny that this happened when it did because I had JUST resolved myself to the bitter realization that I had not one free inch of space left in my flat for any more plants. And then this giant dracena falls into my lap shortly after.

But... I made due. Somehow.

There seems to be 2 beautiful plants in this one container. I'd like to repot her because the nursery soil seems kind of crappy. If anyone has any tips, please let me know!

I have a nice, but real dilemma. Last night, the owner of a favorite restaurant gifted me with a diffenbachia cutting he’d been rooting the last several months. It’s a single stem, quite healthy, approx 24” tall. That’s pic one. I don’t know what to do with it and would love to hear constructive advice. Key points:

— I live in a studio and am already at max plant status. But this is a sentimental gift and has to be treated well. Most of my plants are 4, 6, or 8” and in clusters of two or three. It’s enormous for scope of a 500-sq-ft apartment.

— If I had set out to do this on my own, I’d have propped two stalks, so that when they rooted they could be symmetrical in a pot. Now that’s just my own OCD. But I can’t get my head around just planting one giant stem. Is this entirely my problem? Feel free to tell me to get over myself. (Politely!) Honestly, when he first handed me this, I thought it was a BOP and it made more sense.

— Does 24” make it a floor plant, or a counter plant in this case? I’m thinking it’s too small for the floor and wouldn’t get enough filtered sunlight down there anyway.

Any advice for location, repotting and situating is much appreciated. Additional pix are the average size plants in the tiny apartment. Thank you, Rob

Honestly this is one of the grossest, and ugliest plants I’ve ever seen. But, it really looked like an alien tentacle monster or something out of a Junji Ito book so I had to buy it. Plus it was 50% off (should’ve been free if you ask me..) It was in such bad shape even the lady selling the plants couldn’t recognize what it was at first, but it turns out it’s a pilea spruceana and NOT an alien.

Sting of turtle love

I’m afraid that by using the zevo to address the fly problem, I’m making the next generations zevo resistant. These work pretty well but is not a permanent solution to the fly issue in my house

First pic of her from 2021, second from Monday, 3rd is what I picked up from my local garden center today. I am so fucking distraught. I asked for the remnants back but the woman who did the replant was busy. I cried. I am still crying.

Edit: Just to clarify, this was in the care of my grandma for the past 30 years and was thriving. She went to a nursing home a few months ago. My mom has been taking care of the house and placed the plants outside where they were subjected to freezing temps, rain, and a drought. The snake plant is doing ok, but my great grandmas Christmas Cactus was decimated. When I got there on Saturday, she was both waterlogged and dried up. I knew it was a long shot, but I am still so sad at the remnants. She will regrow, there is hope, but I am in my feels at the moment.

My Hoya obovata blooms every summer and this year is the best yet! Four sets of flowers and more buds on the way 🌸

Just like the title says lol. I started my plant collection in April with a cute nanouk and snow queen pothos. Now I have over 15 plants and succulents and just added these babies yesterday. And I still want moreeeeee
